Jon Hilkevitch-In the sky! A bird? A plane? A ... UFO?United Airlines denies its workers filed reports about saucerlike object hovering at O'Hare Published January 1, 2007-It sounds like a tired joke--but a group of airline employees insist they are in earnest, and they are upset that neither their bosses nor the government will take them seriously. A flying saucerlike object hovered low over O'Hare International Airport for several minutes before bolting through thick clouds with such intense energy that it left an eerie hole in overcast skies, said some United Airlines employees who observed the phenomenon. Was it an alien spaceship? A weather balloon lost in the airspace over the world's second-busiest airport? A top-secret military craft? Or simply a reflection from lights that played a trick on the eyes? Officials at United professed no knowledge of the Nov. 7 event--which was reported to the airline by as many as a dozen of its own workers--when the Tribune started asking questions recently. But the Federal Aviation Administration said its air traffic control tower at O'Hare did receive a call from a United supervisor asking if controllers had spotted a mysterious elliptical-shaped craft sitting motionless over Concourse C of the United terminal. No controllers saw the object, and a preliminary check of radar found nothing out of the ordinary, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said. The FAA is not conducting a further investigation, Cory said. The theory is the sighting was caused by a "weather phenomenon," she said. The UFO report has sparked some chuckles among controllers in O'Hare tower. "To fly 7 million light years to O'Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable," said O'Hare controller and union official Craig Burzych. Some of the witnesses, interviewed by the Tribune, said they are upset that neither the government nor the airline is probing the incident. Whatever the object was, it could have interfered with O'Hare's radar and other equipment, and even created a collision risk, they said. The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (the term that extraterrestrial-watchers nowadays prefer over Unidentified Flying Object) was first seen by a United ramp worker who was directing back a United plane at Gate C17, according to an account the worker provided to the National UFO Reporting Center. The sighting occurred during daylight, about 4:30 p.m., just before sunset. All the witnesses said the object was dark gray and well defined in the overcast skies. They said the craft, estimated by different accounts to be 6 feet to 24 feet in diameter, did not display any lights. Some said it looked like a rotating Frisbee, while others said it did not appear to be spinning. All agreed the object made no noise and it was at a fixed position in the sky, just below the 1,900-foot cloud deck, until shooting off into the clouds. Witnesses shaken by sighting "I tend to be scientific by nature, and I don't understand why aliens would hover over a busy airport," said a United mechanic who was in the cockpit of a Boeing 777 that he was taxiing to a maintenance hangar when he observed the metallic-looking object above Gate C17. But I know that what I saw and what a lot of other people saw stood out very clearly, and it definitely was not an [Earth] aircraft," the mechanic said." One United employee appeared emotionally shaken by the sighting and "experienced some religious issues" over it, one co-worker said. A United manager said he ran outside his office in Concourse B after hearing the report about the sighting on an internal airline radio frequency. "I stood outside in the gate area not knowing what to think, just trying to figure out what it was," he said. "I knew no one would make a false call like that. But if somebody was bouncing a weather balloon or something else over O'Hare, we had to stop it because it was in very close proximity to our flight operations." Some joke, others research The databases of various UFO-watching groups are full of accounts filed by pilots about sightings of unknown aircraft and anomalies that affected navigational equipment onboard planes. Whether any of the UFO incidents are real or merely the result of individual perceptions, some experts say the events pose a potential safety risk to pilots and their passengers. "There have been documented cases where safety appears to have been implicated, and more and more we are coming to the point of view that we are dealing with an intelligent phenomenon," said Richard Haines, science director at the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena, a private agency. We must be proactive before an aircraft goes down," said Haines, a former chief of the Space Human Factors Office at NASA's Ames Research Center." Haines is investigating the O'Hare incident. He said he has determined that no weather balloons were launched in the vicinity of O'Hare on Nov. 7. "It's absurd that the military would be conducting aerial test flights" near the airport, Haines said. All the witnesses to the O'Hare event, who included at least several pilots, said they are certain based on the disc's appearance and flight characteristics that it was not an airplane, helicopter, weather balloon or any other craft known to man. United denies UFO report They're not sure what was hanging out for several minutes in the restricted airspace, but they are upset that no one in power has taken the matter seriously. A United spokeswoman said there is no record of the UFO report. She said United officials do not recall discussion of any such incident. "There's nothing in the duty manager log, which is used to report unusual incidents," said United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy. "I checked around. There's no record of anything." The pilots of the United plane being directed back from Gate C17 also were notified by United personnel of the sighting, and one of the pilots reportedly opened a windscreen in the cockpit to get a better view of the object estimated to be hovering 1,500 feet above the ground. The object was seen to suddenly accelerate straight up through the solid overcast skies, which the FAA reported had 1,900-foot cloud ceilings at the time. "It was like somebody punched a hole in the sky," said one United employee. Witnesses said they had a hard time visually tracking the object as it streaked through the dense clouds. It left behind an open hole of clear air in the cloud layer, the witnesses said, adding that the hole disappeared within a few minutes. The United employees interviewed by the Tribune spoke on condition of anonymity. Some said they were interviewed by United officials and instructed to write reports and draw pictures of what they observed, and that they were advised by United officials to refrain from speaking about what they saw. Federal agency backtracks Like United, the FAA originally told the Tribune that it had no information on the alleged UFO sighting. But the federal agency quickly reversed its position after the newspaper filed a Freedom of Information Act request. An internal FAA review of air-traffic communications tapes, a step toward complying with the Tribune request, turned up the call by the United supervisor to an FAA manager in the airport tower, Cory said. Cory said the weather might have factored into what the witnesses thought they saw. "Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon," she said. "That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low [cloud] ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things. That's our take on it."

(Editor's Note: I had initially identified the witness of the O'Hare UFO as a pilot. That is incorrect. Witness was NOT a pilot)
We have received a lot of inquiries about the sighting of a UFO over O'Hare airport in Chicago in the early part of November, 2006. This incident has been all over the Internet, yet very little new information has been released. I have received several very interesting reports from our readers who know someone who works at O'Hare, or formerly worked there, indicating that a muzzle has been put on the release of any information on UFO sightings, although there has been a number of them through the years. There are at least two new items on the O'Hare incident. 1) It is confirmed that at least one person took a photograph of the UFO. There are a number of researchers working on getting the person who took the photo to come forward. Naturally, if the photo is made public, we will post it here. 2) A witness who saw the UFO has released his eyewitness testimony in an interview with Peter Davenport and Jeff Rense on the Rense radio show. I have downloaded it, and you may download it from my site, or from the Rense website. A link to the mp3 file is on the Rense front page and also below the player. You may also download a windows version of the file below the player. ( B J Booth) Peter Davenport, the UFO center's director, says the buzz over the O'Hare sighting is fully justified.
"In my opinion, because I know the quality of the witnesses, and because I know the nature of the documents that were generated, it is one of the most dramatic cases of the year 2006 that this center has handled," Davenport told me today from the center's headquarters in Washington state. Hey B J,
I haven't seen anything yet this year but I did catch one on 12-30-2006 here in East Texas. Sometimes I just have an urge to get up and go take a few pics and that's what happened on this day. It had just stormed the night before and the sun was peeking out. I walked out and the sky was clear over my house so I went to the side and took a photo of these clouds in the south. I didn't notice anything flying while I was taking the pics, but the first photo I took had this flying in the clouds as I checked them on the computer. Thought you'd like to see it, Happy New Years my friend...
Larry Larry, we thank you for a great photo, and I do mean it.

I have recently been in touch with a very credible UFO witness who at 11 PM on December 24, 2006, in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire UK was taking her dog for a walk as she looked above a house she noticed a massive circular shaped object in the sky. She said that the craft was high up in the air and 100 yards across swirling slowly in a counter clockwise motion. The witness added that the craft had “jagged edges” and had dashes of bright light around it. The object was witnessed completely stationary for around 30 minutes after this time it then began to move up the street.
The witness rushed inside and told her husband what she had witnessed her husband then proceeded to also view the craft. As the object moved up the street the witness told me that she felt extremely frightened by what she was seeing. On the phone she said “it was the strangest thing I have ever seen” she also stated that she has never really took much notice of reports of unknown craft in the skies but now has a different view. The craft stayed in view for around 3 hours during this time the craft slowly moved up the street and eventually right over the witnesses home the craft then proceeded off into the distance. I personally spoke with this witness on the phone on December 29, 2006, five days after the event and I can confirm that she is a credible witness who sounded extremely genuine and I consider this report of the highest credibility. This key witness has informed me that she knows that other people saw this object including her friend who she spoke to after the incident her friend is located 2 miles away from her and was also able to see the object with this in mind it is logical to assume that this craft must have been huge. The witness has got in contact with a local newspaper who will be featuring an article sometime in the near future this case has also been reported on by a local radio station. I spoke again with the eyewitness on January 5, 2007, she told me that she also got in contact with the BBC news about the incident but the BBC have not yet covered the mysterious event in any form. The local radio station mentioned above said they believe the object could be explained by lasers however the witness has told me it was not any kind of laser she also states that she does not believe this was a secret government test. I will be keeping in touch with the witness and will post the latest updates. If you saw anything unusual on December 24, 2006, in the Cambridge area I urge you to come forward you can contact me anytime using the following email address - sam@alienationsam.com f you would prefer to speak to me directly then please send me your telephone number and I will get back to you as quickly as possible. 01/02/07-TennesseeA witness reported that he was traveling north on US hwy 421 at 07:25. He pulled up and stopped at a traffic light in Mountain City, Tennessee... As he watched the signal, he noticed a large greyish white elongated disc shaped object slowly moving westward below broken cloud cover. He stated that at first, he thought the object was a blimp or possibly something dangling from the wires attached to the traffic signal. The realization soon set in that the object was not a blimp and well up in the morning sky. He stated that as the object flew, it would wobble slightly to one side then level back off, showing plainly that it was a flattened, disc shaped object. As he watched another driver in a vehicle beside him rolled down his window and yelled "what the (expletive) is that ?" The reporting witness stated that as he rolled down his window to answer the other witness, he looked back in the sky and the object was gone.

Santa Cruz, California, 12-29-06-Sight seeing and taking photographs along coast north of Santa Cruz California. On back road just south of Bonny Doon, took photo of picturesque landscape. Camera was pointing approximately east. Did not see any object in sky.
Camera was Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart R967, 10 megapixels, in auto mode. Shutter speed for ambient lighting conditions varied somewhat for different scenes, but was hovering around 1/400 second. Several hours later, looking at image on computer screen, noticed dark oval object just above trees. Another photo of the same landscape, taken at the same time but panned several degrees to the left, shows nothing. Attached photo is untouched image taken directly from SD card in camera. No manipulation or alteration of any kind. John Tisdale

Good Day B J,Location:California Foothills 40 miles South of Sonora-Time: 5:25 PM After many months of not seeing anything unusual in the skies, I finally had a sighting. Although it's unclear as to what the object may be, it was very bright and appeared to be hovering and moving at a much lower elevation that normal 'air-traffic'. The size is undetermined yet due to its brightness and its low elevation its assumed to be at least as large as a mid-size vehicle. This assumption is based on previous captures at the same focal range using the same camera and lenses. Although this is conjecture on my part. I was outside behind my house and was feeding my dog. I happen to glance towards the skyline as I always do when ever I'm outside and noticed what I thought was a large low-flying craft. But it did not move and it was much to soon for there to be any hint of celestial bodies and the sun was just setting. I observed it for almost a full ten seconds and then rushed in to grab my camera (which was about eight feet away. I quickly started recording and the object just about the same time started moving from a stationary position to a trajectory towards the southeast. I continued to record this event until it was hidden by the house's roof line. No sound was noticed to be associated with this object. The shape is assumed to be a oval shape. Speed was undetermined. No pulsations or strobe was observed by the craft. I was the sole witness. UFORA Member Johnny Anonymous

(Editor's note:) I thought it strange how things work out sometimes. When the O'Hare Airport UFO event got hot, I recalled that I had posted an account from www.nuforc.org several weeks ago, November 16 to be exact. You can see the report the UFO Casebook posted at that time. See original report on O'Hare Airport UFO. Article Launched: 01/05/2007 09:58:05 AM EST-By Michael C. Juliano It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a UFO?-Smoking Gun Research Agency (SGRA), a Westport-based paranormal research and investigation organization, is looking into a reported November sighting of a UFO over Chicago's O'Hare Airport after seeing it in the news recently. "I heard about it on Monday on MSNBC," Jon Nowinski, SGRA's director, said Wednesday. Nowinski, who founded SGRA in 1997, said he and his associates have been working with Mutual UFO Network Inc. (MUFON) of Bellvue, Colo., in an effort to obtain transmissions records from the Federal Aviation Administration. "We should be able to get the information through FOI (Freedom of Information)," he said. "We're also going to try to contact the air-traffic control at O'Hare directly. There's going to be a number of channels we're going to try." Nowinski said MUFON will conduct the ground investigation and interview witnesses, while the SGRA will try to contact government agencies, which may have investigated the O'Hare incident. "Updates will be provided on both of the organization's Web sites as the investigation continues," he said. James Carrion, a MUFON spokesman, said he was appalled how the FAA and United Airlines has dismissed this reported sighting. "They subjected it to dismissal and ridicule," he said. "It's appalling in this post-9-11 era how someone can say 'bomb' in an airport line and get arrested, yet personnel at United Airlines see something like this and they (FAA and United Airlines) dismiss it." According to a Jan. 1 story in the Chicago Tribune, United Airlines employees, including pilots, reported seeing a spherical object with no lights hover over the United terminal at about 4:30 p.m. and then rise up into the clouds. The FAA has dismissed the sighting as "weather phenomena," the Tribune reported. Elizabeth Cory, an FAA spokeswoman, said the FAA has no records of any UFO sightings. "Our people never saw anything or reported anything," she said. "They (SGRA) can always file an FOI report." Nowinksi, a 26-year-old political science major, said he became interested in the paranormal as a seven-year-old child living in Greenwich after seeing a triangular-shaped craft with bright lights during the Hudson Valley sightings of the 1980s. "I was walking with my sister when I looked up and saw an object that didn't look like an airplane," he said. "My family said it must have been an airplane, but a couple days later there was a story in the paper about a triangular object being seen." SGRA plans to hold a 10-year anniversary party on Saturday, Jan. 13. Call Nowinski at 247-0310 or consult SGRA's Web site at www.sgra-media.org for information.

Adrian Vance, a former Editor of Popular Photography, wrote the book, "UFOs, The Eye and the Camera" that contained a series of photos similar to George Ritter's in Ohio. On July 5, 1965, a Barry Andersson took the photo below on the Russian River near Anchorage, Alaska at 6 AM, with his 35 mm camera of a disc shaped craft that he estimated to be 30 feet in diameter.
Adrian Vance writes, "This picture, with a focal-plane shutter, shows that the disappearance-reappearance mechanism is one that takes place in stages, and that the object begins to appear in the new location while it is still dissolving in the old location or locations. We use the word 'locations' since the Andersson photograph also shows that the device can be in several places at one moment, i.e. part in one spot, part in another and so on." (Page 41). He goes on to speculate that, "The fact that this machine can dissolve in space and spread itself over several locations indicates that its operators have a very high degree of technology. This picture demonstrates that the process proceeds from one side of the object to the other, and that in the interval of the Anderson photograph, 1/125 second, the object was in six places. The fact that they have picked operating cycles that are just beyond human vision indicates that they understand the process in a war, and in terms, that I have not read about before this writing." (Page 49).

01-03-07-Phoenix-The UFO appeared as a round, glowing white object which moved silently over
Phoenix from the Northwest to East, Southeast, without significant direction
change at about jet speed. No running/flashing lights were seen on the
object, appearing only as a solid white glow without any tail/contrail. The object was first observed at around 6:20pm and finally flew out of sight range around 6:26pm. Most remarkably, the object flew almost directly over my house and was totally silent. I am certain that the object was not a plane, helicopter, or space debris. The sky was clear and winds calm. The object was seen by my wife, kids, mother in law, and I. I checked the local news for any other associated sightings for I was sure others would have seen the UFO considering it's trajectory, taking it directly over northern Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, etc. continuing it's Eastward course. I found no other reports of UFOs having been sighted that night-Charles Blake-source: www.ufocasebook.com |

12-29-06-I had taken my Mom home in my car. As my Mom was getting out of my car (she had been ill and I didn't want her to be in the cold night air too long) she looked at the night sky to the south-east and exclaimed "Now I know that isn't a star. Look Lia at the lights blinking so fast. I then told her yes yes get in the house before you catch a cold of death. My Mom lives approx. 200 yrds west of my home. I then drove back home to park the car and looked to the south-east toward Gail Oxford's home. There above and south of her home was the blinking colored lights. After watching the object for a few minutes we decided to call Chuck Reever. The object appeared to be approx 1 mile to 1.5 miles above the land. With the naked eye I could see that it was blinking rapidly different colors, white blue green and red. The object appeared to be the size of my small finger nail, approx. 1 mm in circumference. I took the binoculars out to watch this object and to get a closer view. The binoculars are 7x10 power. Even though I still could not see any clear difined shape, I could see that it was changing shape because of the way the lights would change their position. The object changed from a veritcal line of lights to a half-circle, then went back to the vertical line. I could not clearly see any shape of the object. I had to go into the house to get a paper and pen to write down the email address of Ruben-State Director of Calif, Mom came in and said excitedly that the object had sent out "flares". She said it looked like it had spit out flares. I then returned to the outside and watched it begin changing shape again with the lights. It has now began to pulsate. I ran into my home to get my husband's new digital-camera with a tlephoto 3x lens, and began to try to take photos of the object. The object doesn't appear in any of the photos. After returning to my house and watching it from my kitchen window. It has now moved to a postion of between Gail's home and a tall tree norht of her home. It now is approx 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from land. I left the window after watching the object for approx 10 minutes and returned to watch it again but the object was not in the sky where I had last seen it. I went outside to search the sky and did not find it again. source: www.mufoncms.com Stationary Object-12-28-06-My mom was outside having a smoke and noticed an object that remained still. A plane few by it and the object remained still. She was looking in the sky and noticed that it was not moving for quite a while. She first thought it was a plane but realized it wasn't moving. Saw steady object with lights. Seem to be bright one minute then dim another minute. Seems to separte every minute. When separtes seems to be 2 separte lights. Can's identify due to be so far away. My mom was quite excited and her husband was quite distraut. He truely belives in UFOs. He saw one when he was 16 years old in Montreal around 12pm at night waiting for a bus. Looked like a green light, ball shaped. Right at this moment it looks like it's moving away as if they know we are looking at them. We'll still looking at it for awhile and will report again in the late morning.source: www.mufoncms.com

11-26-06-Golden, CO-We were driving through a parking lot at Walmart and noticed a few people looking up and pointing at the sky. After arriving at my house a short distance further, we looked up at the sky and noticed a black triangular object floating high just east of golden. At first we thought it may be some giant kite with very high altitude, but after looking through binoculars the object was unwavering. It stayed in one single spot for over a half hour. The sun started to go down and we kept the object in view of the binoculars. Using a small star as a reference point, the object began to rise a fall extremely fast around the star. It climbed once again and was stationary until the sun went down. It almost looked like a hovering, stationary, black, stealth fighter. It was large, but even in the binoculars it had not definite details on its outer shell. Very strange, but a very interesting first encounter. source: www.mufoncms.com |

12-26-06-Deming-we were traveling west on I-10 coming out from El Paso to Los Angeles I first noticed the object about ten minutes before i told my wife it seemed strange to me because it was a fairly large object it seemed to be metallic and very heavy but it was not moving just stayed stationary over the same spot the whole time at first i thought it was a plane but it had no movement then maybe a helicopter but there's no rotors finally I settled on it being a blimp But it seemed too massive to be one I asked my wife what she thought of it and what shape she thought it was she said it was a circular shape and seemed heavy and made of metal. I agreed that it was circular because all this time we are still traveling westbound on the freeway the object did not move but always had a cigar shape to me which meant it was indeed circular finally after driving about 20 mins and fearing losing sight of the object I pulled off in the center dividing strip and took 4 photos and a short video with my fuji f20 digital camera, the strange thing is looking on the photos the object seems smaller than I remember it and on the video I cant see it at all after snapping the photos we left losing it behind some hills. I regret not driving towards it to find out what it really was but we had a long drive ahead of us. source: www.mufoncms.com |

12-27-06-Dumfries-My boyfriend and I were leaving to go get something to eat. After I got in the car I happened to look up and saw this orb like object moving pretty fast...t first I thought it was a comet but it had no tail and was moving to oddly to be a comet. I watched it for about a minute until it went behind a house then saw it come back into view. It was pretty low. Sadly my boyfriend pulled away... so I was unable to watch it more or follow it. I do know it was heading in the direction of Quantico marine base. Today as I was looking at your site I saw the video shot by Johnny Anonymous in CA, I can tell you that what he taped is IDENTICAL to what I saw on the night of December 27th! - Amy-source: www.ufocasebook.com |

12-19-06-We were driving east on Interstate 90/94 north of Madison, WI on the
morning of December 19, 2006 around approximately 7:30 - 8:00 a.m.
It was a clear sunny day. There were many plane trails in the sky. But there was one large stationary tan object in the skyto the east of 90/94. My friend said he thought maybe it was a star or a planet, but it looked nothing like a star. It was very, very large in comparison to all the planes in the sky. It looked like it could have been a blimp or a hot air balloon. As we drove down the highway we were getting nearer and nearer the object until we were right next to it. When we were next to it, it looked nothing like it had from a distance. It looked like Saturn with a ring of lights around it. The ring of lights was white and pretty dim. The area above and below the lights was very faint and greyish looking. Again it was very large. We also saw 4 or 5 other unmoving objects in a variety of distances away from this large object. Suddenly the lights on the nearest large object just faded out. But then one of the other unmoving objects became visible and it looked exactly like the one that disappeared and was just as large. It did the same thing. It faded out from the position it was in, but I could see it or another object exactly like it to the north very faintly for awile after the 2nd one disappeared. This all took place in about a 30 minute time period. I kept saying I wished I had binoculars and a video camera with me. I have been travelling via car on the road for years because of my jobs and I have never seen anything like this. I am pretty positive that these were UFOs. I am a sky watcher but am not sure what I saw. The most compelling part about this to me is that from a distance it was tan, large roundish, ovalish and when we were right next to it, it didn't look like that at all. It was not a plane, helicopter, hot air balloon, blimp, star or planet. It was too sunny and clear of a day for me to be confused about what I saw. I came to this site because I felt sure there would have been many reportings about this that day. I have not been able to get this off my mind since it happened. I am 46 years old and have never experienced anything like this. Now I know why they are called unidentified, because I do not know what I saw. I just know that it was extraordinary. source: www.mufoncms.com |
