The Kaolinovy Creature: Is It Alien or Human?
    Alleged
(only the Geneticists know for sure and they disagree)

    by Bill Knell

A tiny body was discovered in the village of Kaolinovy, Russia, on August 13, 1996. The village is located on the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains near the town of Kyshtym in the Chelyabinsk Oblast (an Oblast is a federal region administrated by Russia). Due to poor or sensationalized press courage at that time, the actual story of the discovery varies. According to an article published by Pravda-On-line, the best account comes from Major (Ret.) Vladimir Bendlin, a former investigator with the police department of Kyshtym.

Bendlin claims that Police detained Vladimir Nurtdinov during the summer of 1996 on suspicion of stealing some electrical wire. Nurtdinov was carrying a bundle thought to contain some of the wire. When it was examined, the bundle was found to contain a red cloth with the remains of a tiny body inside. Police videotaped the cloth and the body. During that process, Bendlin casually commented on how much the body looked like an alien from a science fiction movie.

Bendlin opened an investigation and approached the only physician he could find on duty later that day. Igor Uskov was an Urologist with the local hospital. Uskov laughed when he heard Bendlin’s alien explanation for the creature and countered with one of his own. The doctor was certain this was a twenty-week-old fetus and later confirmed that theory by having it examined by Irina Ermolayeva, a prominent gynecologist. She also agreed that the body looked like a fetus and added that it had probably been expelled during a miscarriage or an illegal abortion.

Things changed when Stanislav Samoshkin, chief of morbid anatomy at Kyshtym Hospital got involved. After performing an autopsy, he declared the body to be neither human nor animal. His primary argument centered on the fact that a human skull consists of six bones, while this one had four. Although his opinion was in the minority, it set off a firestorm of publicity.

As journalists and a television crew from Japan arrived in town offering cash for interviews, the original arrest story morphed into something completely different. The new story involved a woman who found the creature alive in a cemetery on the outskirts of Kaolinovy in the middle of the night. Tamara Vasilievna Prosvirina said she felt compelled to go to the cemetery by a voice in her head. The woman often went there during the day to gather flowers placed on graves. Known for her bizarre behavior in the village, Prosvirina described the creature as a ’child’ that had large eyes, no ears, could not talk and ‘whistled’ to get her attention. She said that she brought the creature back to her apartment.

Other paid witnesses said they came to Prosvirina’s apartment and saw the gray-skinned creature alive. Because of her bizarre behavior and often-outrageous claims, Prosvirina was reported to medical authorities which took her into custody for her own safety. Although Prosvirina and her neighbors claim that the authorities were told about a ‘child’ in the house as they took her away, they ignored the warning and left. With no one to feed the ‘child,’ it died. The neighbors failed to explain why they did not remove the ‘child’ or make an effort to feed it.

Enter Vladimir Nurdinov who was later arrested by Major Bendlin. Although he never mentioned any connection to Prosvirina when he was originally arrested, Nurdinov came up with a whole new account after being paid for his story. In the new version, he was a friend of Prosvirina and knew about her the ‘child‘ she found in the cemetery. Knowing the ‘child’ was left alone in her apartment, he went there and found it dead in her bedroom. He removed the body and brought it to his home.

Nurdinov’s account of what happened next differs from Bendlin’s report. Nurdinov claims that the police came to his home to question him about electrical wire he was accused of stealing in the village of Novogorny. When they found the tiny body, they thought it might be the mummified remains of a child and took it away. Nurdinov made no mention of his arrest.

From that point on things went downhill as far as the truth is concerned. Claiming a Police Investigator contacted her; UFO Researcher Galina Semenkova traveled about one hundred and forty miles from Kamensk-Uralsky to investigate. She is head of the Star Academy UFO-Contact in Zolotov Method organization. Claiming she received the remains of the creature from a Police Investigator, she headed back to Kamensk-Uralsky. On the way back, she says that Aliens from a flying saucer confronted her and demanded the body.

According to the Japanese Television Crew, the body was already missing when they arrived. However, they did not immediately speak to the Police just assumed someone in the town had it. This is confirmed by their cash offer of $200,000 to anyone in the town who could produce the body. No one could produce the body, but plenty of people described as ‘bums and drunkards’ by the Russian Press lined up to tell their story about the creature.

The cloth that Nurdinov claims he used to wrap the body found at Prosvirina’s apartment has only added to this convoluted mystery. Although blood stains originally found on that red cloth were tested and found to be human, a report in the Russian Press in 2004 said that Vadim Chernobrov (a Moscow UFO researcher) claims that more recent tests show the creature had nothing in common with humans. No information was provided which makes clear what was tested, how or by whom to provide these amazing results.

Now yet another amazing revolution comes to us from Russia. According to a Pravda-On-Line article on 3/24/07, the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Moscow reports: “A gene discovered in the DNA samples doesn’t correspond with any genes pertaining to humans or anthropoid apes,” said Vadim Chernobrov, a coordinator with the public research center Kosmopoisk. “No gene samples available at the laboratory match the gene. The experts in DNA research haven’t come across any creatures with such an elongated DNA molecule,” Chernobrov added.

It’s important to understand that none of this information or the claims being made come from the Russian Government. They seem to feel that the body was the result of a miscarriage or illegal abortion. There might also be a good explanation for the condition of the body. An accident at a nearby radioactive chemical plant in 1957 caused the area to be polluted with about half the amount of radioactive material released in Chernobyl during that accident. That amount would be more than enough to account for all sorts of genetic and other abnormalities for many years to come.

It’s sad to see UFO researchers and the media focus on cases like these when so many former government employees and members of the military have come forward with first hand knowledge regarding the existence of Aliens and the cover-up of information related to the UFO Phenomenon. UFOs, the Perfect Contradiction?
    Depiction:
Hypothetical logic provides us with a particular statement called the universal falsehood - the perfect contradiction which asserts the simultaneous truth of a statement and its negation at the same place and time... one might ask, does Nature follow a logic that permits the occasional [instantiation] of such [phenomena] as, "Here is an object that [apparently] exists but [at the same time] cannot exist according to known laws of physics."?

I base this notion on my own experiences with UFO imagery. Unfortunately, I have never [knowingly] observed a UFO of the types your case book so eloquently describe. But I have looked long and hard at the pogtographs and moving images (both in the casebook, and on cable television) and have repeatedly been struck by two things.

1.) Individual sightings all seem to differ significantly in specific details, although there is a consistency in the more general characteristics.

2.) The sightings are all [to me] both immediately familiar and shockingly unfamiliar at the same time.

I will return to the first point in just a bit. As for the second point, here is one case-in-point underlying my argument for the occurrence of what is, apparently, an instantiation of the universal falsehood in Nature: the simultaneous sense of Recognition and non-Recognition, the latter experienced by a sense of shock at the strangeness of the image.

Let me examine both Recognition and non-Recognition in a little more detail.

Recognition: Here, I must refer to the type of recognition that occurs in dreams. Dreams produce imagery and situations that, in waking life, are impossible, but, to the dream ego, are recognizable, understandable, even familiar. I have often been amazed at how, in a remembered dream, I understood, while dreaming, this-or-that about the dream situation, while in waking life, remembering the dream, I asked how I might have understood a situation that could have made no sense at all.

The UFO images produce, for me, this type of recognition. The most outstanding experience of this type occurred to me a few years ago while I was leafing, late at night, through the Time-Life book on UFO's. (I was on travel at the time and staying in a hotel room.) I turned page upon page, enjoying the contradictory sense of shock and recognition until I hit the page that showed a charcoal sketch of a grey alien. The face that stared at me out of the page was so absolutely unnerving that I closed the book at once.

I decided that it was time to turn in; but I could not sleep, and the sense of "something there" became so intense that I finally resorted to turning on the room lights so that I could clearly see what was around me. I have been hard pressed to account for such a powerful internal response and have searched my thoughts and done self analysis (following Jung) without turning up anything of substance (so far).

Non-Recognition: Here, again, I refer to the kind of non-recognition that occurs in dreams. It is expressed in the words, "This should not be happening," or, "This cannot be happening." (If the sense is sufficiently strong, the dream becomes a lucid dream and we say, "Ah! This is a dream." At which point in time we are able to manipulate the dream elements if we so choose.) In the case of a UFO, something real and apparently material is going on about which we feel this sense of non-Recognition. Nature has produced for us an enigma that makes our minds absolutely balk, leaving us stunned and unable to clearly express what we have experienced. But the experience is not the stuff of dreams: it is the stuff of a should-not-be-but-is reality.

OK. Now back to the first point above. Individual dreams differ in specific details (often greatly) but not in generalities. A dream sequence has this characteristic, for example. Not so long ago, I had a dream sequence that ran well neigh a decade. I remember most of the dreams. The individual situations could be classed into a few different categories. No two dreams were alike. But all of the dreams involved water, and the water was associated with fear and foreboding.

How do we tie these various notions together? Let us first consider two general statements often made about UFO's:

1.) UFO's are extraterrestrial: they come from "out there."

2.) UFO's are psychic projections (primarily Carl Jung, but other have said similar things).

The first point is that UFO's are exterior to the observer. The second point is that UFO's are interior to the observer. I believe that neither point alone accounts for the diversity and for the concomittant similarity between sightings.

So let us consider a third possibility:

3.) UFO's are natural phenomena (of whatever sort) that are observer dependent.

In other words, the observer in a UFO case is not passive but active, contributing in some way to a [class of] phenomenon that Nature is laying out before him/her. UFO's are the result of an interaction between the observer and his/her surroundings, perhaps triggered by some mechanism (unknown).

It is my opinion that this third possibility best describes my own experiences with UFO images. In my case, the exterior source was a book, or computer screen, or television presentation; the interior source was something in my basic psychology that produced the Recognition/non-Recognition complex. In the case of other observers who have actually experienced UFO's first hand, the exterior source is something in Nature; the interior source is, again, [perhaps] something in the basic psychology of the individual(s) making the observation. The essential idea is that both Nature and the observer contribute to the specific UFO experience, and that the experience is as real as either or both "permit" it to be.

This latter statement is not equivalent to saying that UFO's are dreams or psychic projections. It is saying, rather, that UFO's are real phenomena with both interior psychic and exterior Natural causes that have become entangled in an interaction or exchange of some sort. If correct, then I believe that a new class of phenomena (i.e., a here-to-fore unrecognized class of phenomena) is being described here.

As before, you may publish this if you wish. I would enjoy some feedback in any case.

    Best regards,

    Joe

    UFO at Trindade Island-Eyewitness Corroboration
    Trinidade
(Blogger’s Note: When people suggest there is no evidence of alien visitation, one of the first things pointed to are the photographs taken in 1958. Skeptics have said that only the photographer saw the object, that he was a note "trick" photographer, and that these pictures have been proven to be a hoax.

Now, thanks to friends in Brazil, we have a witness who was there and who can shed some light on the topic. My thanks to A. J. Gevaerd, Alexandre de Carvalho Borges and Eduardo Rado for their work and the permission to reprint the article.)

Interview with Amilar Vieira Filho After 50 years a witness to a UFO at Trindade Island talks about criticism over the case.

By Alexandre de Carvalho Borges, consultant of the Brazilian UFO Magazinee-mail address: unificatordigitalis@yahoo.com.br

Translated by Eduardo Radovolunteer translator of the Brazilian UFO Magazinee-mail address: eduardoradotradutor@yahoo.com.br

Amilar Viera Filho, now 82, was a witness to the famous UFO case occurred in 1958 which became worldly known as Trindade Island Case. Amilar lives with his wife in Icarai Beach, Niteroi (RJ),and was the president of Icarai Underwater Fishing Club at the time. He was a lawyer and worked for Banco do Brasil. The Trindade Island Case is a classic in Ufology mentioned by ufologists as one of the greatest evidence of the UFO phenomenon on Earth. This case should be only one among many others in the archives of ufology if there were not four impressive pictures of the UFO taken by a professional photographer called Almiro Barauna. Those pictures were shown worldwide and are contained in several specialized books being continuously debated and discussed even 50 years after the case. From the time of the occurrence opinions were divided with some publications attacking the photographer by accusing him of fraud and manipulation of the pictures. Others defend their authenticity because they know Barauna's reputation and also because the sighting is supported by testimonials from many other people that were aboard the ship Almirante Saldanha, stage to the sighting. Witnesses observed the UFO hovering over the sea and the island while only Barauna was ready to use his camera to register the object in the sky.

The sighting was very quick. According to calculations from the Brazilian Navy it took no more than 14 seconds. Despite the short duration, some reports and articles on the case tell that many people were at the deck of the ship and could witness the UFO. At the time reporters could interview some of them while others gave their testimonials in anonymity. However, only a few from those eyewitnesses had their names disclosed for posterity. This turns difficult the attempt to list all those eyewitnesses in order to rewrite that fact with a new look. We know that most of them are dead now and some others could not be reached. Amilar would be the only witness alive that had the name disclosed by newspapers and articles were written over these years.

Some witnesses who were in the ship at the moment of the encounter are known by name to date: the photographer, Almiro Barauna; Amilar Vieira Filho, president of Icarai Underwater Fishing Club; Jose Teobaldo Viegas, Brazilian Air Force Reserve Captain; Homero Ribeiro, 1st Lieutenant; Paulo Moreira da Silva, Commander; Mauro Andrade, employee at Bank of London; Aloisio Araujo, no reference to his occupation; Jose Saldanha da Gama, Captain; Carlos Ferreira Bacellar, Lieutenant-Commander; Farias de Azevedo, photographer; Fernando, geologist.

Trinidade Despite being on board, not all of them were eyewitnesses to the UFO. Moreover, the presence of the geologist Fernando is not verified, since reports say he must have left the ship before in the island. Names of other witnesses were not disclosed, however, newspapers and Barauna say that some military were interviewed at that time but preferred anonymity. There is also reference to sailors and sergeants who would have seen everything, but unfortunately their names are not known nowadays. The following interview was taken by phone and focused on questions prepared based on current criticism and old ones being revived nowadays.

After so many years, Amilar restates that he really saw the UFO and the occurrence was real. Years after his sighting at Trindade Island he had another visual contact together with his wife. This time it was a USO over Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro. What we could learn from this is that the episode gets reinforced despite some inconsistencies here and there when we join together all documents related to the case. Such inconsistencies may arise from witnesses particular points of view subject to the observation of an unknown phenomenon without any previous parameters. One can not rule out that many inconsistencies may arise from totally wrong sources.

Finally, if there was any photographic fraud performed by Barauna this was never confirmed despite all analyses conducted. As the interviewee say, if there was any fraud in the pictures it was made from the real UFO observation at Trindade Island.

Alexandre de Carvalho Borges: Do you have the names of the 48 people that witnessed the UFO?

Amilar Vieira Filho: No... I don't... not even the names of the crew.

Who mentioned the number of 48?

I haven't heard that, not about 48 people seeing the object. I have no information on that.

Alexandre: So there were not so many people seeing the object?

Amilar: Everybody was at the deck, everybody looked at it, but I don't know if there were 48 people looking at the object.

Alexandre: Was there any confusion on board at the moment of the sighting?

Amilar: Yes, there was a lot of noise and confusion.

Alexandre: Don't you have the name of any military officer?

Amilar: No, I don't. I met Bacellar in that ship [Lieutenant-commander Carlos Alberto Bacellar] and Captain Saldanha da Gama [Jose Santos de Saldanha da Gama].

Alexandre: Did Bacellar see the UFO?

Amilar: No, he didn't; nor Captain Saldanha da Gama. It was a very quick sighting, didn't take long.

Alexandre: Before that event did you have any information on other sightings at the island before the arrival of your group from Icarai?

Amilar: We heard about objects appearing over the island only after that occurrence and the pictures taken by Barauna. Bacellar had no authorization to disclose information on UFO sightings occurred in that island.

Alexandre: But didn't you hear anything, Weren't there any comments from the crew about objects being seen in that island?

Amilar: No, I had never heard that kind of story. Also, we stayed there only for two days. The ship was there to deliver supplies and we went on diving for two days only.

Alexandre: Testimonials say that you were the first one to spot the UFO and then called Jose Viegas [Jose Teobaldo Viegas, then Brazilian Air Force Reserve Captain] who, in turn, called Almiro Barauna. Is that true?

Amilar: Viegas must have seen it first and then called Barauna, because I saw it afterwards, when the object was already beside Desejado Peak.

Alexandre: So Jose Viegas was the first one to see the UFO?

Amilar: Yes, Viegas was the first. He said he saw a door, a window, etc. I haven't seen any of these. He gave an interview about it, which I avoided because I thought it would be kind of ridiculous. I don't like to talk about it, never wanted to get involved. That time I gave only one interview to O Globo newspaper with my little daughter in my arms and asked the reporter to write exactly what I had said, not to increase anything.

Alexandre: Was that an event that influenced your life or was that irrelevant?

Amilar: No big influence, I just skipped a few days of work at the bank. The Brazilian Navy also asked us not to disclose anything. We spent one month without talking about the event. Barauna had an agreement with Diarios Associados newspaper in order to publish the story as soon as the Navy granted the authorization. However, a director from Correio da Manha newspaper saw the pictures held by president Kubitschek and was to publish that on Monday. Then, Diarios Associados decided to publish too in that same morning.

Alexandre: Where are the other members of Icarai Underwater Fishing Club?

Amilar: We were five. Almiro Barauna passed away, Mauro Andrade [employee at the Bank of London], Aloisio Araujo, and Jose Viegas passed away too. I'm the only one remaining.

Alexandre: How about Farias de Azevedo?

Amilar: Yes... the photographer. He worked for Jornal do Brasil. He passed away too.

Alexandre: And where are the negatives today?

Amilar: I don't know! Barauna is dead and I don't know what happened with them. [Note: It is known today that Barauna's widow is in possession of the negatives of pictures obtained by him.]

Alexandre: Did you see them on board?

Amilar: Yes, I have the pictures here with me, the positives.

Alexandre: Skeptics ask how could you see the shape of the UFO in the negatives after the development on board, once it was very tiny in that negative.

Amilar: I'll tell you one thing, I didn't see it. The negative was held by the Brazilian Navy.

Alexandre: Reports from that time say that Barauna showed the negatives to all military as soon as he left the development chamber on board.

Amilar: But I wasn't there at the moment of the development of the pictures. I was at the quarter deck. That was in 1958, I was the president of Icarai Underwater Fishing Club, now I'm 82. I don't have further details to give. What I saw was only a bright object which showed a grayish light when stopped.

    Alexandre: So it changed colors?

Amilar: Yes, it did. It was bright when I saw it beside Desejado Peak. After that he was hovering over the island and got brighter then went away to disappear on the horizon.

Alexandre: Which color was it when it came from the sea?Amilar: When I saw the object it was already beside Desejado Peak. When I was called, it was already there. When hovering it increased speed and brightness and went away until it disappear at the sea. This is my observation. I saw a bright object without any details in surface, no more than this.

Alexandre: Did it show any rotation movement?

Amilar: No, I saw just a gray object which turned bright then went away slowly then increased speed until it disappear on the horizon of the sea.

Alexandre: When it turned bright, what color it had?

Amilar: It was something like a fluorescent light. The object was gray, but I didn't see any details on the surface. As it became brighter, it started to move slowly. After that, the light got brighter and it went over the island until disappear. That was my observation. I didn't see when it arrived at the Peak.

Alexandre: Did the ship radar spot any UFO before the sighting?

Amilar: I don't know about this. I have no idea.

Alexandre: Were you called by the Navy to testify?

Amilar: No, I was called only once by a reporter from O Globo newspaper.

Alexandre: So you have never told this story in other places?

Amilar: No, I try to avoid it. I went to the bank to work and people use to laugh at me, they used to toss a coin saying it was a flying saucer. I avoided the subject because of this.

Alexandre: What do you think about the criticism over Barauna when even friends say he did some photographic tricks to mock a UFO?

Amilar: This is because Barauna was always a very capable photographer. He pictured everything! An article says that he pictured the Rio de Janeiro Fleet. [Note: Published in Mundo Ilustrado magazine, in 1954, before the sighting at the island]. But what made me believe even more is the fact that the negatives were taken from the camera on board. He didn't touch anything. The negatives were impounded by the Navy.

Alexandre: Some current criticism say that Barauna was together with Jose Viegas at the moment of the development of the pictures and they might have arranged some fraud at the occasion.

Amilar: I believe that the pictures were developed in the presence of authorities of the ship together with them. It was not the case of Barauna and Viegas developing the pictures without anyone else awareness.

Alexandre: But reports from that time say that the military stayed outside the chamber waiting for the development of the pictures. Captain Bacellar was outside waiting for the development.

Amilar: Well, I don't know about that because at that moment I was at the quarter deck. I can not guarantee anything.

Alexandre: Another remark says that one of the pictures show the object in an inverted position compared to others. The second picture showing the object over Crista do Galo Mount would be similar to the first picture when the UFO was still arriving at the island, however, this second picture shows the UFO in an inverted position compared to the first one.

Amilar: I am not an expert, I have nothing to say.

Alexandre: Such remark says that Barauna would have created a fraud. In summary, Barauna would have inverted and manipulated the object in that picture...

Amilar: It could be, but that object was really in the sky. I can assure that because I saw it and I'm saying that I'm sure!

Alexandre: What do you mean with "it could be"?Do you mean he could have played any tricks?

Amilar: No, I don't know! I don't know if he played some kind of trick as you say, what I'm saying is that the object was really in the sky. If he did anything it was from what was seen in the sky. But as everyone else are dead, I'm the only one to tell the story and I'm telling what I saw. I have no doubt that what I saw was not any illusion.

Alexandre: OK! I'm asking you about this because the possibility of a fraud was very much commented even among photographers that were his friends at that time.

Trinidade Amilar: I have never taken part in UFO subjects, but it was not that I am a skeptic. My wife, for example, believes in UFOs. I saw a very strange object with her in Niteroi, but I'm not going to say that it was a flying saucer, I can only say that was an unidentified flying object. I don't like to talk about it, but since you called me I'm being kind to tell you what I saw. I've already told what I saw, an object did appear in the sky.

Barauna was a photographer and had a collection of cameras. Maybe he even got some prize taking pictures of the object, who knows? You might have testimonials of people saying he mocked the pictures, etc, but even authorities sent the negatives for analysis at the Cruzeiro do Sul Air Photogrametrics Service and the conclusion was that they "could not say that was a hoax". So, it could have been a fraud, but it could be such a well done... But the object was really in the sky, nobody can deny it. I saw that, then went to my cabin because it is very annoying having people asking about that, I never liked it. I have no interest in discussing if there was a fraud or not. I'm just saying that this was my observation, I saw the object and I will never deny it!

[At this point the interview with Amilar is over and he passes the phone on to his wife who didn't want to tell her name, so that she could tell us the sighting of a USO in the municipality of Niteroi (Amilar was there too). Below is the wife's brief testimonial.]

Alexandre: This other sighting happened after of before the sighting at Trindade Island?

Amilar's Wife (AW): It was much after that, I believe it was in 1963. I had never thought about that before, never had any interest.

Alexandre: Did you take any pictures?

    AW: No.

Alexandre: And how did it happen?

AW: I was in a village, in Niteroi, and as in that time there weren't many buildings, we could observe a lot. It was around 5:30-6:00 PM in a place with many people and, strangely enough, I didn't see anyone commenting after that. The object that I was had lights around it like a car lantern, but it has many colors with no colors in the middle of it. I saw it together with Amilar, with my daughter and an aunt of mine. Everyone saw it at the same time.

Alexandre: Did it look like the UFO pictured at Trindade Island?

    AW: No.

Alexandre: How long did that observation took? AW: It took very long. We sat on a bench at the beach and observed its whole travel. It took more than half an hour. When I first saw it was very low, then went higher but still relatively low. Then he stood still showing those colorful lights, after that it went higher and the colors disappeared leaving only a bright light like a full moon. Then it went left, then right and stood between the Pao de Acucar and Galeao in a swinging up and down movement. At that moment we could see a light that disappear afterwards. Then, when it was a little closer to Rio de Janeiro than Niteroi, it descended and dived in the sea making no bubbles or reflection. Alexandre: Getting back to the sighting from 1958 in Trindade Island, what did you think when Amilar arrived home telling the story? AW: He arrived telling he saw a very strange object with no defined shape and odd movements. When he saw this other object he realized that the movement was the same and was also silent.

Alexandre: Did you meet Almiro Barauna?

AW: Yes, I thought he was a very serious man. A very closed person and not any exhibitionist.

UFO over Riga... by Paul Stonehill
    Depiction
Few rumors about this incident had circulated in the USSR. I was aware of some, but until 1996 did not have the complete story.

In August of 1961, a test flight of the most modern Soviet fighter-interceptor jet was to take place. The top brass wanted to film everything, so as to demonstrate the might of Soviet Air Force. A film crew, headed by Victor Dudinsh, was commissioned for that purpose. They set up their equipment in the vicinity of the airplane, next to the take-off and landing strip. Over one hundred military officers had been waiting to see the air show. But nothing happened. The jet was fine the day before, but now the pilot could not start the engine.

At the same time a sinister sound pierced through the air, and a strange object appeared in the sky.

It appeared from nowhere, and everyone was able to see it at once. They started running in every direction. Fear gripped everyone, and panic ensued. Dudinsh, a real professional, fought this fear to film the occurrence. He aimed the camera at the object in the sky, pushed the start button, and ran to the shelter. The object did not descend, but rather moved in a strange fashion. It would disappear, and reappear, but slightly further from its original position. This went on for a few minutes, and then something else took place.

An entity inside the UFO moved around intensively. The object was illuminated by sun; blue sky in the background, i.e., the visibility was fine. Its shape was that of a triangle, its color violet. A few minutes later and the UFO suddenly dimmed. It remained in the sky, but became somewhat invisible. As its brightness disappeared, so did the fear.

The military crawled out from various holes and shelters, and discussed the event. Not one doubted the ET nature of the object. Dudinsh ran back to his camera, and saw that it was working, but the film was already spent. He wanted to take it back to the studio, but the airfield commander confiscated it. The KGB arrived some time later, and took the film away.

Dudinsh, however, convinced the airfield commander to take witness statements from the hundreds of eyewitnesses. Most signed it with trepidation. The pilot was the first to sign; he also mentioned that it was probably the UFO that caused the strange behavior of on-board equipment, and the dead engine of his jet. Dudinsh and his colleagues did find out some time later that the UFO was filmed.

Those who witnessed the object had been warned to forget everything and keep silent. Somehow the information about this UFO leaked to the West, and letters of inquiry followed. So did offers to buy the film. To diffuse the situation, the Soviet media published a report that the object sighted that night was a meteorological probe. For many long years no further information came from the KGB archives. I tried to get more details, but all my contacts could find out nothing.

    S. Boyev pursued this case, too. He published his account in the NLO magazine (Issue# 13, 1996). The perestroika was in the air, and Boyev was able to get permission to see the film. He was preparing materials for his documentary about UFOs over the USSR. The KGB, damaged by glastnost and changes sweeping the USSR, relented and released everything. Famous Soviet proponent of UFO phenomenon, a scientist from the Academy of Sciences, V.S. Troitsky, assisted Boyev. Still, even then the authorities did not recommend them to disseminate the information.

The first public showing of the film took place in somewhat strange circumstances. The giant hall of the Institute of High Temperatures was filled by hundreds of UFO debunkers. Exactly at midnight the light was turned off, and the crowd breathlessly watched a UFO over the airfield. The film lasted thirty seconds. The next three minutes the audience sat silently, and then discussions literally exploded, and lasted until the morning.

Everyone had a UFO story of his own, and everyone there was tired and disgusted by the silence about UFO phenomenon under the Soviet regime. Experts were questioned, and they confirmed: the UFO has nothing to do with weather balloons, probes, or space junk.

The object was classified as a cosmic voyager, a phenomenon of extraterrestrial origin, unknown to science. The psychosis-horrible fear- experienced by eyewitnesses was probably caused by powerful and directed infrasonic radiation. Other measurements based on the film and interviews indicated that the object hovered at an altitude of 20 kilometers, and its "base" was more that 200 meters.

The 1961 Riga UFO left a trace in the history of Soviet UFO phenomena, a trace that the KGB could not hide.

To those of you interested in the current UFO research, remember the names of present-day Russian and Ukrainian ufologists who doggedly pursue the study of the phenomenon, in spite of the great difficulties experienced by their countries. I have nothing but respect for people like Aleksandr Rempel, Yuri Smirnov, Nikolay Subbotin, Gherman Kolchin, Mikhail Gershtein, Vadim Chernobrov, Dr. Rubtsov, and others like them.

I hope that I and Philip Mantle will be able to tell you about them and their research in our new book (there is more to the Riga 1961 incident, too). And if any of you are truly interested in Russian/CIS ufology, let the information I have provided here be your first step on a road of discovery.

Two More Videos from San Antonio Submitted
UFO, San Antonio First Part of Video-Nov-11-06 @ 4:06 pm-I was sitting under my porch looking north, and I noticed a bright orb hovering, high in altitude. So I grabbed my camcorder and began filming.

This object appeared to be fading in / out. It then took off west ,then back east. Clearly this was no aircraft... I am sending a still and attaching the video clip. If you have any questions get back with me.

Second Part of Video- Dec-26-06 @ 5:27 pm we were having a picnic at The South Lions Park. I was facing south with camcorder in hand, zooming in on the moon.

I noticed a bright orb traveling east. I quickly began filming-this was clearly a bright orb at very high altitude. I was fortunate to have captured the orb passing by the moon. When comparing object to moon, it is huge. When zooming in, it clearly shows an orb. This is no aircraft.

Object traveled N/E until I lost sight of it. I am sending a still and attaching the video. Get back with me if you have any questions.

Two Witnesses See Same Craft at Different Locations
    Drawing
Two taxi drivers claim to have seen a diamond-shaped craft over the River Dee at Flint and a security guard called the object a flying "sting-ray" when he saw it from nearby Deeside.

From the files of ufologist Margaret Fry

The cabbies made the sightings at separate locations and times on the evening of March 5 1986. The first, at 8.40pm, was said to be over the Dee somewhere near Shotton when the driver saw a dark diamond-shaped UFO flanked by separate green lights and flanked further by several independent arcs of white light.

The man said that he watched as the lights flashed from green to white. (An impression of the craft is seen top) At 11.20pm, the second sighting was made and contained similar details.

Neither men's accounts were detailed as both were not interested in assisting further the Welsh Federation of Independent Ufologists.

However, in October 1989, a mobile security guard witnessed a remarkable sight with a colleague. This is his account written on an investigation form:

"I was guarding a building site when I saw - coming towards me - an object in the sky which veered to the right of me. I shone my torch at it and it then altered course and came straight at me. I then ran towards my friend - away from the object - and I shouted at him to look. It then turned sideways and flew in a straight line veering to our left. It hovered in the distance, flew up, down, circled, then it flew away into the distance.

We then walked away to do our patrol, but still looking up. Then at 5.50am (20 minutes later) we noticed a bright vapour above us - like an aeroplane's but much longer, and we realised that the object must have gone above us without us hearing it.

My friend had gone home when, at 6.10am, I was sitting in my car and noticed an object on my left come out of the clouds with its lights on. I then flashed my main beam car lights, and it vanished. I got out of my car and looked above. I caught sight of a different object.

It moved in a straight line towards the first object which reappeared. I then lost sight of both objects. I'm convinced what I saw were not planes or helicopters. Anyway, the second object was miles above me - further than any plane I've seen. By the way, our torches failed when it went over - but the street lights were OK."

    California-UFO Observed over Cruise Ship
02-21-08-My wife and I were on a cruise ship called the star heading down to Acapulco Feb 21 2008 (My wife's birthday). We were sent on the cruise by my CEO of Daycom Systems Inc. My wife and I had just recently lost our oldest son Eythan to his battle with cancer. My CEO paid for us to go on vacation to get away so we booked a cruise with Norwegian Cruise lines.

We had a suite, # 11020 on the 11th deck, which is forward/starboard of the ship. On February 21, at about 11:30 PM, I went out on the balcony of our suite and I looked aft of the ship up at the smoke stack which was blowing northwest-our heading was southeast along Baja, California.

I was out on the balcony in my robe and I just lit a smoke when I saw what looked like a spark or something in the smoke stack. I told myself it was a spark that came out of the exhaust but I noticed it was moving in an elliptical motion away and back towards the ship. As it came back to the ship it would leave my sight because it was behind the ship. I sat there thinking if what I saw was real when about 5 seconds later it came back following the same pattern.

I then called for my wife to come look at it. As she got her robe on, it came and did the same pattern again. I called for my wife with more urgency since I had become really startled. She came out on the balcony and I told her to just watch the sky behind the ship and to focus on the smoke stack. She gasped about 10 seconds later when she saw a gold orb of light make an elliptical pattern just as I had seen 3 times before her.

She asked me if it was a bird and I replied there is no way that is a bird. I told her we had to get to the very aft of the ship and then we bolted for the elevator and we got out on the 12th deck and continued aft of the ship. We sat back there for a few minutes with camera in hand.

After not seeing anything, we kind of lost interest and starting looking at the moon and stars. Then suddenly out on the horizon north of us, we saw the strange orb "turn on" and glide over the horizon for about 5 seconds before "turning off" and vanishing.

My wife and I were completely freaked out and we knew we saw something not of this world. I have recently begun to research this type of thing and have found many photos and videos that show exactly what we saw so I am convinced there are UFOs. source: www.mufon.com

03-03-08-Bloomingdale-Triangle-shaped silver object hovering 100 ft above tree line on Hwy 80 tilted downward and shot out of view.

Driving down Hwy 80, I saw triangle-shaped object with lights on the points of the triangle. It was hovering above the trees approximately 100 ft. high. It was silver in color. I rolled down the window and could hear a low humming noise.

I turned around and as I did, it tilted in a downward motion and then shot away. I am not sure what it was, but it was different than anything I have seen before. source: www.nuforc.org

    California-Metallic Disc Seen
03-03-08-Long Beach-Chrome disc motionless over ocean at sunset in Long Beach, CA at 5:45 PM.

I was on Ocean Blvd going west toward Redondo Avenue when I was looking at the sky over the ocean which had the residue of chem trail, probably from military aircraft. This is quite common there. I saw an object flying away from me, and I stopped my car to get a better look at what it might be. It also trailed something behind it, but it did not dissipate.

The object appeared to be headed toward a crash, and then it suddenly came to a complete stop, like it was frozen in the sky. It was a chrome-like object with the sun reflecting off of its metallic surface. It seemed to me to be a disc-shaped object. I had my cell phone with me, but was so enthralled with the object, I forgot to take a photograph. source: www.nuforc.org

    Florida-Triangle-shaped UFO
03-15-08-My mother and I were visiting my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew in Broward County-(Southwest Ranches) and, as we were preparing to leave, we were standing outside in the driveway talking and star gazing. My brother is an amateur astronomer, my nephew is studying aeronautical engineering, my niece is an Attorney, my sister-in-law is a nurse, and I am a professional local government employee.

We were star-gazing and discussing the various constellations and stars, when my nephew stated that he saw something in the western sky that was very odd. We all saw what appeared to be a triangular shaped object with silver/white lights flying from south to north. It was a clear, near cloudless sky with a bright moon, so visibility was clear.

At first I thought it was a flock of birds flying in a "V" formation and the moonlight was reflecting off of them. But then I saw a single white light blink one time, in what would be the rear center of the object. As it was going away from us to the north, it appeared to change trajectory as if it was turning or banking to one side (to its right), so that the lights then appeared to align in a straight line. There were no red or green lights. It was not an airplane or a helicopter. There was no sound.

It is very difficult to estimate the height, but I would guess it was about one-half mile high. The entire event only lasted about one minute plus. My elderly mother was the only one that did not witness this event due to her poor eyesight.

My sister-in-law and niece dismissed it as a military "flying wing," but my brother and nephew (who both fly small planes) are very knowledgeable about various models of airplanes, and they said it was the wrong configuration to be the currently known flying wing.

It was an amazing event and we were all pretty stunned. I drew out what I witnessed tonight, and just called my nephew to get his immediate recollection as it was still fresh in all our minds. He did not recall seeing the single light at the rear of the object, that I saw, but, we all concur it was a triangular shaped object-and it must have been solid, as we could see no stars between the triangular shaped lights. source: www.mufon.com

    Indiana-Oval-shaped Orange UFOs
03-06-08-My husband and I and younger daughter were traveling home from Monticello on the evening of March 6, 2008. We were headed north on NW Shafer Drive when my husband said, "Look at those lights," pointing to the eastern sky. I was driving so I could not see past him. My younger daughter was sitting in the back seat behind him and said "What is it?"

I slowed down to pull over, but he said the objects were gone. We traveled approximately 1-2 minutes and turned onto our road when he said, "Look, there they are again." I then stopped and looked at them. They were two oval-shaped, bright orange lights that flashed a couple times and vanished very quickly, almost like it was absorbed into the sky. My husband stayed outside awhile after we returned home, but didn't see anything else that evening. This is not the first time we have seen these types of lights or objects that appear and vanish with no noise or explanation of what they were, sometimes they are so very fast and move almost so you can't follow them as they move. source: www.mufon.com

    Iowa-Red Lights Zig-zagging-
03-13-08-Iowa City-My nine-year-old son had just gone to bed and was looking out his bedroom window from his darkened room. He remarked that the sky was beautiful and clear. He thought he saw a satellite in the sky; then he said it couldn't be a satellite. He described what he saw. Two small red lights were zigzagging very rapidly around a larger red light. Then they all disappeared. The event lasted less than a minute.

I was with him, but without my glasses I could only see a bright bluish star in the sky. However, as he is very good at describing what he sees and feels very strongly that one should always tell the truth and not make things up, I believe that he saw exactly what he described.

I did not tell him at the time that I wondered whether he might have seen a UFO. He did not speculate about what he might have seen; he simply and matter-of-factly reported what he saw. M. K. source: www.ufocasebook.com
