The UFO Casebook received this intriguing photograph on 06-18-04. It was taken on June 17th between 7 and 8 pm. The sender was taking pictures of the clouds of Corpus Christi, Texas with a Sony 5 megapixel digital camera. At this time, the cameraman saw nothing out of the ordinary through the viewfinder of his camera. The photograph was published originally in our UFO magazine, # 107.
On April 11, 2006, we received a new photographic analysis of this picture, bringing out new details of the original photograph. The details are listed below:
Someone i know was interested in my UFO picture and offered to do some analysis on it. It gives me a little different and enhanced perspective on the picture, other than applying filters it hasn't been altered in any other way.
The image on the upper left gives the clearest "UFO" type image.
thanks
Darren
I had some fun goofing around with your image. If you look at the image I sent you, you'll see I sort of threw in a bunch
of things so I could explain things to you. First, I never realized that
this object could be viewed as a saucer. It just hit me tonight. If you've
ever seen one of those optical illusions where if you stare at it long
enough you see different things. When you first look at it you see one thing
right off, but then after some mental shift you see the other thing. Well,
that's what happened with your UFO. All this time, from when you first
showed it to me, until today, I saw the object as only its' black outline,
much like the image pasted in the upper right. I turned it upside down so
you can make the mental shift to how I've seen it all this time a little
easier. You have probably been viewing it as a saucer all this time and
might have difficulty seeing it my way.
So I figured out the reason I've been seeing it the way I have is because
the "implied" saucer parts are the same color as the background cloud. I
found that to be very strange. This is one of the reasons I thought this
could be seen as a forgery. If you view the re-pasted UFO's in the column
above the original, you will more easily see the background color matches
the cloud fairly well. One could say this object was inserted and blended
nicely, but not realistically because the color matches the background
cloud. But there are possible explanations for that, so I wouldn't bet too
heavily on the forgery theory based upon this alone. I even have a good
sci-fi explanation for it that I think you'll like.
The upper left hand image is simply your UFO flipped and blended with itself
to make it symmetrical. It gives you a pretty good idea what this thing might
look like if it really was a saucer shape. I forgot why I pasted in the
blown up version in the upper middle, but I'm pretty tired right now so
maybe it'll come to me tomorrow.
The second major problem I found with this image is that I had to turn it
EXACTLY ten degrees to get the UFO level. Considering the angle from which
you took the picture I'd say that is a DAMNED unusual coincidence. But it's
not impossible. If you look at the lower right image you'll see the lines
where I attempted to align the sunlight. The UFO and the cloud both seem to
be similarly lit from the same direction. So unless you moved the sun to get
the lighting right on the cloud, I'd say the ten degrees doesn't prove
anything. (But it is very odd).
So let's just say this is a real picture of a real flying saucer. It may or
may not be, I have no way of knowing for sure. But I do know that I was NOT
able to prove it fake. So anyway, I'm going to put on my sci-fi cap and give
you my "sci fi author wannabe" explanation for the light on the saucer being
the same as the cloud behind it. Oh, wait, I forgot to mention it might just
have been caused by the jpeg process. There are very few of the cloud colored
pixels in the saucer, so if they should have been another color, but that
color was close to the background cloud color, the jpeg process may just
have rendered them that way for compression.
But the fun explanation goes something like this...You did not see this
thing with your own eyes even though you were looking at the sky, and you
are a ufo buff, so why the hell didn't you see it? If it was going super
fast it would be blurry on the photo, so I doubt it would have zipped across
the entire sky while your eye was in the camera. So what if it wasn't
visible to the naked eye because it has some kind of visible light cloaking.
If you are able to collect the light hitting one side of an object and
release it at the same angle on the opposite side of the object, you would
not see the object, you would see the light from the other side of it. It
would be invisible. (This was the principle behind the Invisible Man in H.G.
Well's story from almost 100 years ago). So what if this cloaking technology
works on the visible spectrum eyeball's don't see them, but film might under
the right conditions. In this case it isn't what you see but what you don't
see. The dark parts are all shadow from the saucer. So if the combination
of the sun's angle, the film, your position and the shadow all aligned
correctly to hit a weak spot in the cloaking technology, well then you'd
have a photo like the one you have.

A fragment of the witness' relation:
"I want to report a sighting of an UFO over Czestochowa that occurred on 8th April 2006. It was about 14:00. Observing the sky I noticed a white disc or a cigar shaped craft that in one moment began flying southwards. Then the object parted and 2 objects began circling over nearby houses. Then the object's parts reunited in 1 object that was still hovering over houses on not too high attitude. The object was white in color. Beams of Sun were reflecting in it. During an observation I didn't hear any sounds that might be emitted by a helicopter or a plane. When the object was circling, it began appearing and disappearing continuously, i.e. once it was visible and after a while it wasn't and so on. In one moment it vanished and after a while I noticed it in the distance floating over a nearby forest and then it suddenly disappeared." It was the second observation of UFO over Czestochowa in April 2006. On 2nd day of this month a metallic sphere was also observed over the city. source and references:

By Rachel R. Basinger-For the Daily Courier-Monday, April 10, 2006
The Kecksburg UFO monument, better known among the locals as "the acorn," will soon get a new home. The event commemorated by the monument took place more than 40 years ago, on Dec. 9, 1965, when witnesses say they saw an object fall from the sky into a small patch of woods. Several witnesses agree the military was involved, blocking the path of anyone getting to the object before it was hauled away. While some think the flying object was an extraterrestrial spaceship, others explain the phenomenon as some type of Soviet satellite or Venus probe that went off course. In the early 1990s, the television show "Unsolved Mysteries" came to do a story on the event. After the production crews left, the monument made for the show was left behind in Kecksburg, Mt. Pleasant Township. It was placed on a podium at the Kecksburg Fire Hall. The fire department never got involved with bringing attention to the event or the monument until recently. In need of more than $300,000 for a pumper truck, firefighters pulled together to think of unusual ways to raise money. With a monument sitting on their property -- representing an event that brought international attention to the small village -- fire department officials decided to take advantage. To date, firefighters have raised more than $9,000 selling T-shirts, sweatshirts and videotapes of the "Unsolved Mysteries" television clip and the more recent Sci-Fi Channel television clip. But, in order to attract additional interest -- and customers who would buy merchandise -- the fire department formed a UFO committee. Ron Struble, chairman of the committee, said that's when members came up with the idea of refurbishing the monument and moving it to an adjacent piece of fire department property. The fire department's UFO gift shop is located in the emergency services headquarters directly beside the new site that is still being prepared. "Where it sat originally was not a very good location," Struble said. "If someone stopped to look at it and we got a fire call, we would have to ask them to leave. Now they won't be affected if we get a fire call." In addition to parking for tour buses and other visitors, the little park will include sidewalks leading up to the monument that will be placed on a platform attached to a tall steel tubing cylinder. "We want to really dress it up with shrubs and all," Struble said. While the monument has been waiting for its new home, it has received a face-lift. It's been covered with a special coating that should last for 20 to 30 years. The hieroglyphic-looking symbols around the bottom of the monument also were redone with special caulking that should also last for 20 to 30 years. "After all these years, there's still enough interest being shown that we thought we could benefit," Struble said. "We've had people from Japan and Germany come to visit, and we've gotten e-mails from all over the place." Stan Gordon, UFO researcher who has worked tirelessly on finding out what really happened that day, said the fire department's efforts will be nothing but beneficial for them as well as the community. "I have received a number of calls over the years from people out of town who had heard of the event," Gordon said. "They wanted to know what all there was to see. Unfortunately, there was really nothing here for them except for the monument itself." Gordon said that a refurbished monument in a permanent home that is tourist-friendly, along with a souvenir shop, will bring in more visitors. "This is a local mystery with an international interest that puts Kecksburg on the map," Gordon said. "Overall, this will be beneficial to the community." Struble said the fire department hopes to have the site completed by month's end, but will be happy to have the money raised for their new pumper in five to 10 years. Gordon added that anyone who may have information on the event, and has not yet come forward, to call him at 724-838-7768 or visit his Web site at www.stangordon.com. "We're still pursuing the constant rumors that there are some pictures out there of the object," Gordon said. "If anyone has these pictures, they could really help solve the case." source and references: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/dailycourier/news/s_442169.html |

My wife and I often take walks at night. We live just on the West edge of West Lafayette, Indiana. There are no street lights where we live, just at the edge where residential meets farm land. On March 30, it was dark, the sky was clear, and we could see the stars very clearly. We took a walk down Old Oak Drive about 9:30 PM. This road runs East-West, and we were walking toward the east. We had only walked down to about the second house when we both looked up in the sky to the Northeast.
There were three lights in a horizontal row that looked sort of like old Edison type incandescent lamps, kind of orange with some kind of texture in them, like an orange ring or something. My first thought was that it was a low-flying airplane, heading for the Purdue airport. At the time, however, it was strange that a plane that looked so close was absolutely silent. I said, "what's that?" We both looked at it for several seconds and it faded out. We both thought it must have gone behind a tree branch (though there weren't any branches that high that were thick enough.) In a few seconds, it faded back in, displaced slightly to the right, then faded out as it again seemed to be going behind a branch. We were walking the whole time, watching the place where it had been, so we thought once we walked past a couple of tall pines on our left we'd see it again going overhead as we both thought it was coming in our direction. Not so. It was just gone and never reappeared. It made no sound at all, which was strange in itself. Afterward several planes flew overhead and they all looked very different. Their lights were bright and they all had the blinking red and green lights. They all made sound we could hear, even a couple of fairly high passenger jets. The thing we saw was absolutely silent, and had no blinking lights. The lights it had were more of an orange color and they didn't flash... there were no flashing lights on it at all. It didn't look like any of the classic descriptions of UFOs you hear about, but there it was, and it disappeared completely. We stood on Old Oak Drive for a long time, scanning the clear sky, looking for something that might explain things. We saw nothing. In fact, while we watched we saw several planes of all kinds, flying both low and high, and they just emphasized how different the thing was that we saw. I stayed outside for another 15 minutes watching the sky, but it was gone. I have no idea how high it was or how far away. I guessed that if I stretched out my arm (we measured it at about 25 inches from my eye) the lights spanned about 0.5-0.6 inches. If it was 1500-2500 feet away, I think that would represent a span of 50-60 feet. If it was much farther away, of course it would have been larger. We told some friends about it. Later on, surfing the Internet, I found the UFO Casebook Internet site, and discovered the section called "Indiana Lights stack up." Although those descriptions vary in some respects from what we saw, they all report orange lights that sound a lot like what we saw. They all occur in the space of about one week too, so I thought I should post our sighting as well. I've attached a slide of what it looked like. I put in an animation to try to show what it did, so just click on the slide show, and then click it to start the animation.

On April 10, 2005, the UFO Casebook received a short report with photograph from Russia. The image purportedly shows five UFOs. The photograph was taken on March 02 of this year over the city of Moscow. There was also a notation of a location called, Station Metro "Ploshad Ilyicha."
I want to thank the gentleman for sending in a most interesting photograph. I am assuming this is a legitimate photo, until further evidence comes forward to prove otherwise. I have emailed G. O. for more information. If and when that information is received, I will update this page.

The Lock Raven Dam Incident, 1958 |
On October 26, 1958 at 10:30 PM, near the Lock Raven Dam, north of Baltimore, Maryland, two men were traveling in a car. As they approached a bridge, they saw what appeared to be a flattened out egg-shaped object hovering approximately 100-150 feet from the top of the bridge.
Slowing their vehicle to get a better look, they approached to about 75 foot from the bridge. Suddenly, their car went completely dead. The two men stated that it was like they just cut the key off. Nothing electrical worked. The driver stopped the vehicle, and attempted to restart the engine, but to no avail. The object and the malfunction of their vehicle frightened the men to the point that they hid behind their car. They were able to closely watch the UFO for 30-45 seconds. All at once, the object flashed a white light, causing the two witnesses to feel heat on their faces. The flash was accompanied by a loud sound, like thunder. The UFO now began to slowly rise straight up. It was extremely bright as it did, causing the edge of the object to be fuzzy. Within 5-10 seconds the object was out of sight. The men were then able to restart their car, and rush to the nearest phone to report their sighting. The Ground Observor Corp was contacted first, but did not respond. The men then talked to the Towson Police Department, which sent two patrolmen to the scene. The two men soon began to experience a burning sensation on their skin, and went to St. Joseph's Hospital in Baltimore for treatment. They were examined, and each man returned to his own home. Follow-up investigation would reveal some more details of the incident. The bridge was double-arched, about 40 foot tall, and 500 feet long. The distance from the witnesses to the object was estimated at about 3/4 of a mile. Also, there was no unusual atmospheric conditions at the time, and the skies were clear. Project Blue Book investigated the case, but found no absolute cause for the appearance of the object. The case remains unidentified, although the Air Force did state that the object constituted no security threat to the United States. The two witnesses would subsequently be identified as Phillip Small and Alvin Cohen. source and references:

PLAYA DEL REY -- I was having a cigarette, looking for satellites on April 3, 2006, when I saw three lights in a triangle shape, at 1:35 AM, moving faster and higher than any plane I've ever seen before. I see a lot of planes as I live next to LAX. But these made no noise, not even a delay of noise. As they went towards the horizon heading west, the object changed shape, and two lights went left (south) and disappeared. The third stayed straight and disappeared.
Los Angeles -- What I heard, on the Channel 4 news on April 5, 2006, I have recorded on my TiVo. The news lady, who's name is Coleen Williams said, she saw the Stealth Bomber do a fly by just under the clouds, and it looked like a big kite in the sky. The weather man, who's name is Fritz Coleman said, that's strange, I wonder why it didn't show up on my Doppler. To me they got a funny look on their faces, and changed the subject. Maybe what she really saw, was a large Triangular shaped craft, other then the Stealth. |

BATTLE GROUND -- The Kokomo Indiana area lights were also visible on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, around 9 PM, from Battle Ground south of Kokomo, Indiana. They are due east and fairly distant. I've seen them before as well, sometime within the last two years. I didn't take note of the exact date but it was during an outdoor program I was doing either on a Friday or Saturday evening between 7:30 and 8:30 PM. The entire audience started to make comments and point over my head. Lights off in the east hanging in midair, then just going out. I joked about the mother-ship coming back for me.
Kokomo – On March 29, 2006, two witnesses saw bright points of amber, orange light that separate like an accordion and then disappear after five seconds. I saw five of these tonight to the west with later sightings moving slowly north. Once we saw two sets of three lights simultaneously. My sister-in-law also saw one appearance. The sightings started at about 9:19 and lasted until 9:38 PM. Grissom AFB -- After contacting the base asking about if they were carrying out any type of exercise that may account for the strange sightings reported by many over the orange lights, the Air Force tells us they are not doing training exercises. Yet, the Lafayette Journal and Courier contacted the Tippecanoe County Sheriff and spoke with a Smokey Anderson who had received information from the Miami County Sheriff who reported the lights to be flares from training exercises done at Grissom. I checked with Tippecanoe County Sheriff Smokey Anderson about the orange-colored lights you said have been spotted near Lafayette and other nearby towns. He said that the Miami County sheriff said the lights are from flares from training exercises done at Grissom. Anderson, who lives in southern Tippecanoe County, also spotted the lights about a year ago and made some calls then. He explained them as the flares that shoot off in a circular motion to tell an aircraft which direction to head, he said. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you to the Lafayette (Ind.) Journal and Courier for their help. Editor's Note: There is a designated Exercise area west of Kokomo but not to the east. Burning Flares even if attached to parachutes have a limited burning time of a few minutes and drop slowly in altitude. Some accounts have people following and chasing for extended periods. KC-135R aircraft are stationed at Grissom and fly refueling missions. ANG F-16's fly out of Fort Wayne Airport and have flare dispensers. |

Castleton -- A friend and I were driving on Brookview Road when I noticed an object hovering above the tree line on April 5, 2006. It was cloudy enough that you could not see any stars, and at first my friend thought it may be a helicopter, until we came closer and I could make out the object's silhouette against the clouds. We had our windows down and it was silent, so I knew even before I saw the outline of the object that it was neither a plane nor a helicopter. From what I could make out from the silhouette against the clouds, the object was rectangular, with two red lights and a row of white lights, one of which was flashing. It did not have any lights on either side indicative of wings on a plane and planes cannot hover. It was hovering below the clouds and above the tree line.
My friend put the car into reverse so I could get out and take a closer look with my camera zoomed in. Two or three seconds later, the object had vanished. My initial reaction when I saw the object was "is that a UFO?" and then upon getting a closer look and then having it vanish, it grew into excitement. I've been waiting to see something that close-up for thirteen years. Thanks to MUFON Hq. http://gamehippo.com/cgi-bin/mufon/manage_sighting_reports.pl?mode=latest_reports |

Stryker -- I was driving on Ohio Route-2/191 on March 5, 2005, on a clear crisp day, blue skies and I noticed a "disc" like object very high in the sky a couple of miles away. It was clearly not moving in any particular direction and actually seemed to be keeping stationary. I noticed a plane directly above with contrails and somewhat near the object. But this object was not a plane. I would say definitely silver not 100% on the color description. Anyway, I would definitely describe it as just "floating" up in color, but it was pretty distant so I'm there. I kept a direct eye on it so I didn't lose sight of it as I kept driving. But in a "virtual instant" the object was gone right before I hit the little town of Stryker. It's blipped out on a clear day and would have taken extraordinary speed to vanish. One moment it was there, then gone. Just a footnote, at the time I had the visual of the object, I was talking to it and said, "I see you, I really do see you". Ten seconds later it was gone. I knew it was something more than a plane or helicopter. |

Quakertown – I just witnessed three silver round objects around the sun on April 2, 2006! We ( my husband and I) were looking up to check the chimney on our house at 3:05 PM, and we saw these three objects darting across the sky right in line with the sun. They would do circles around each other then it seemed liked they fused together and then would make what looked like an upside down triangle, they are still there as I write this, our camera wouldn't be able to capture it due to the fact that it is right in the suns rays and the only way we could actually see them was to block the rays by standing and looking in the shadow of our chimney. I have never seen anything like this before, they looked like toys playing and spinning around each other then collide and separate and make this triangle formation, they were WAY up there. I also saw to the right of them a long thin silver shaped object that just hovered there and never moved. Wish I could send pictures, but I would swear this on a stack of bibles and take a lie detector test! |

THROCKMORTON -- In our small, rural West Texas town, I was looking for shooting stars, and instead, I saw a five-star upside-down V transparent UFO in October of 2005, gliding across the nighttime sky. I followed it as it moved, and as I turned around to keep following it, it disappeared right before my eyes! My cousin, who was with me, witnessed this as well. I have had several other encounters, seeing strange, slow moving crafts that would come at a standstill, then zoom off at an angle out of view. All of these sightings have been in the exact same town. Other people in that town have seen strange things like that as well. I have heard that the military was building a craft that would mimic the slow moving, the hovering, but I do not think that the military would have a craft that would be able to blend in with its surroundings! Do we even have the technology for that? Thanks to Brian Vike http://www.hbccufo.org/ San Antonio -- On March 10, 2006 I was driving on Highway 281 at 12:30 AM, past the Alamo Dome when a large bright white light caught my eye ahead in the sky about 500 feet high. I then saw the bottom of a triangular shaped object with red and blue lights on the three corners blinking. I watched it pass over and turned at the next exit, and the object was now near the lookout tower. I turned around again and found a spot to park. But when I got near the tower again on the highway there was a second smaller craft with red and orange lights. The craft's top bright light kept turning on and off randomly. The second craft came straight towards me. I got scared as this smaller craft with bottom red and orange lights at the three corners flew right over me like the larger one did before. It had a top bright light, and changed directions and joined the larger craft quite fast. I just kept taking turnarounds and went in circles three times until they disappeared going back and forth across the highway. It is almost as if they were following me. About ten minutes later I was near the University of Incarnate Word still on Highway 281 when I saw the small red and orange craft again three hundred feet high. It proceeded to cross my path giving me another view of its bottom. I took the next turnaround again and when I got back it was gone. I drove a few more minutes before taking the next turnaround and the larger blue and red craft had returned and was approaching my left side until it got right overhead of me again. This time however I saw a bright beam of light shoot out of the bottom of the craft and point everywhere. It pointed its light at cars, buildings and houses nearby. When it passed over the light was so bright I had to shield my eyes for a second. It was searching for something. It looked disk shaped. I was scared and lost site of it at 1:40 AM. CHANDLER, (GASPESIE QUEBEC) -- On March 6, 2006, at 4:00 PM, I was having tea in the kitchen with my biological mother (We met when I was 25) and I wanted to ask her about a UFO sightings she had the night I was conceived. I looked out the window and noticed the light in the sky, like something falling, but it moved slow enough across the sky and disappeared behind the trees and houses. It took about 4 or 5 minutes to fade out of sight. I took a few photos, the best I could out of my upstairs bathroom window. I had a dream the day before the sighting of a big white orb floating down to earth. It looked like a white glowing globe with a map of the world outlined on it in sparkling diamonds. I ran in to get my camera and went back out to take photo's and in the sky were little twinkling golden stars which moved about and formed into a lions head then into the shape of the sphinx, then I was abruptly awake. I stuck the photos into my photo bucket account and you can get a hold of them at the following link. (The 1st photo of the odd streak in the sky with the sunset is from last year in February almost 1 year before, the rest are dated). HAMILTON, ONTARIO -- I have witnessed three UFO sightings over the past couple of months over Lake Ontario. In Hamilton there is a street called Burlington Street which goes straight towards the lake, so you can see a full view of Lake Ontario while you are driving. I drive this way every morning around 7:30 - 7:45ish. My first sighting happened about 3 months ago, when my friend and I were driving down Burlington Street at 7:45, there were clouds covering the lower part of the lake, but it was a bright sky above the clouds, now all these sightings have happen while I was driving, so we only caught glimpses of them. All of a sudden we saw something shoot through the clouds and into the sky, leaving behind a straight line in the clouds. We thought it was really weird. The second sighting happen at the same time, 7:45, while were driving on Burlington Street again. It was a clear sky and we saw just a little swiggle in the sky, it was not moving, just sitting there. I have seen video of the exact same sighting before, it was very weird. But today's sighting on April 3, 2006, at 7:45 AM, topped everything, as we were again driving down Burlington Street and looking at the view of the lake, I thought I saw a bird gliding into the wind, but then I realized, it wasn't moving. My buddy and I started to take a closer look, it was a craft hovering over the lake. It was in a disk shaped form! Just sitting there watching all the cars going by on the highway. I know what I saw, and it was for sure a disk. I know that there a lot of sightings over Lake Ontario. Do you know why I know? I've witnessed three of them. If you have any questions please get back to me. |
