Information on the Recording:Dear Sir, First, I’m an amateur astronomer and have seen all kinds of (explainable) “things” recorded through scopes and camcorders, including objects thrown by someone into the scopes field-of-view, animations added later, etc. When analyzed, these can be detected. And I don’t have the time or desire to fake something that I think is as important as the possibility of advanced life visiting us. Ok, that said… I was attempting to use different filters and attachments for these daylight conditions without much success as achieving good focus on the Moon with the rapidly deteriorating conditions were making it impossible. That’s why the Moon is out of focus. But that put the object a little more in focus. I was recording 30 second clips of the Moon passing through my fov in an 8” Schmidt-Cassegrain when at 18 seconds, an object streaks by. (I wasn’t looking at the video screen at that time and started slewing the scope down after it passed) I have captured many (identifiable) objects through a scope and camcorder; planes, birds, satellites, balloons and even some guy’s radio controlled airplane that looked very much like a full size plane because of its distance. All of these objects have their own characteristics such as; planes leave a heat signature that lingers for several seconds in its wake. Wings, tail and fuselage are detectable. And the contrail in the right conditions, not to mention lights. Not only that, all air traffic at that time was well below my fov and could be seen without optical assistance. And the flight paths run diagonal to this objects direction. Satellites captured with this scope can clearly see solar panels. They pass by slightly slower too, making them easier to identify. Birds flapping wings. Unless the bird is "seagull size" or larger, they look like dark, blurry, small "sticks" streaking by and much faster. They also have to be close to be detectable at all. This object is interesting to me because it doesn’t have any of the characteristics of the ones mentioned above. I estimate its altitude at 45 to 50,000 feet based on air traffic seen below it. I estimate its distance from me to be a minimum of 10 miles knowing my scopes capabilities. If these figures are close, then it could be 10 to 30 meters in diameter depending on its actual distance. The consistent Sun reflection along its top edge suggests a metallic skin. There is also an odd dark area near the center of the object. It almost looks like a hole. I don’t think it’s a shadow because the Sun is behind the scope and to the left and slightly higher than the Moon. A shadow should be forward (the direction it’s heading) and slightly left of that position. It also leaves quite a bit of air turbulence after passing by signifying it’s in the atmosphere, however there isn’t enough distortion for it to be a heat signature. Jets, large and small leave a blast of hot exhaust for several seconds in its wake. At 30fps, the object was captured on 7 frames. The first frame, only shows the front edge and the next frame was duplicated. So only 5 frames show each new position. Anyone with video software can break down the video into frames. Cropped from a 30second, 650Mb avi file. Available on CD free but need a mailing address. Anyone wanting a copy just ask. I would like a professional editor or investigator to check it out.
Scope: Orion 8” SC, tracking off Focal Length: 2032mm Camera: Orion StarShoot Solar System Color Imaging Camera II Sensor: 1/2 inch, color CMOS progressive scan, IR filter Res: 1.3mp 1280x1024 pixel layout Software: Maxim DL Essentials Photo/Digital Video Capture Recording Settings: Video Capture at 640x480, 30fps, 30 seconds Blue “light pollution” filter attached to an adjustable polarized filter at 20% Time: 08:33, 04/09/07 Direction: Facing SSW about 40 degrees above horizon. In the edited clip, I contrast and bright adjusted the two zoomed-in frames. That’s the only enhanced part of the edited version. Full resolution original digital video avi file not modified. If you ask for the CD, it is recommended to download the clip to your computer to view. I have found the clip drops frames when viewed from the CD and I have a 3Ghz processor. 26/4/2007-Pilot's UFO Shockby Joel de Woolfson UFO sightings are being investigated by the Ministry of Defence.
Two experienced airline pilots on separate flights saw something up to a mile wide off the coast of Alderney on Monday afternoon. Surprisingly, Jersey radar equipment did not pick up the object, although an air traffic controller said he had received simultaneous reports from the Aurigny and Blue Islands pilots. Aurigny's Captain Ray Bowyer, 50, said he saw the strange object during a flight from Southampton. He spotted a bright-yellow light 10 miles west of Alderney while his plane was about 30 miles from the island and at 4,000ft. "It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was 2,000ft up and stationary," he said. "I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a 737." A 737 is slightly smaller than a jumbo jet. "But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide." As he continued his approach to Alderney, Capt. Bowyer saw a second identical object further to the west. "It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey." The sightings come days after reports that scientists have discovered outside our solar system an Earth-like planet capable of supporting extraterrestrial life. "I can't explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes." The sightings happened at about 3pm. Capt. Bowyer, who has flown commercial planes for about 20 years, said he had described the objects to air traffic control and filled in an incident report. "As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible. I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety of the passengers first." He added that the experience had been quite scary. "I"m certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I"m saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying." Paul Kelly, 31, the air traffic controller who was on duty, said the Blue Islands pilot had made a similar report, but nothing had appeared on his radar. "The pilot from Blue Islands was en route to Jersey at the same time and as he went past Sark he described an object behind him to his left," he said. "The description was very similar to Captain Bowyer's and they described it as being in exactly the same place. But they were looking at it from opposite sides." The pilot told him the object had been 1,500ft beneath his plane. The Blue Islands plane was at 3,500ft at the time so, again, both pilots placed it at the same altitude. "If the object was stationary, our equipment would not have picked it up because the radar would have screened it out."

By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP Science WriterTue Apr 24, 7:00 PM ET WASHINGTON - For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe." The planet is just the right size, might have water in liquid form, and in galactic terms is relatively nearby at 120 trillion miles away. But the star it closely orbits, known as a "red dwarf," is much smaller, dimmer and cooler than our sun. There's still a lot that is unknown about the new planet, which could be deemed inhospitable to life once more is known about it. And it's worth noting that scientists' requirements for habitability count Mars in that category: a size relatively similar to Earth's with temperatures that would permit liquid water. However, this is the first outside our solar system that meets those standards. "It's a significant step on the way to finding possible life in the universe," said University of Geneva astronomer Michel Mayor, one of 11 European scientists on the team that found the planet. "It's a nice discovery. We still have a lot of questions." The results of the discovery have not been published but have been submitted to the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics. Alan Boss, who works at the Carnegie Institution of Washington where a U.S. team of astronomers competed in the hunt for an Earth-like planet, called it "a major milestone in this business." The planet was discovered by the European Southern Observatory's telescope in La Silla, Chile, which has a special instrument that splits light to find wobbles in different wave lengths. Those wobbles can reveal the existence of other worlds. What they revealed is a planet circling the red dwarf star, Gliese 581. Red dwarfs are low-energy, tiny stars that give off dim red light and last longer than stars like our sun. Until a few years ago, astronomers didn't consider these stars as possible hosts of planets that might sustain life. The discovery of the new planet, named 581 c, is sure to fuel studies of planets circling similar dim stars. About 80 percent of the stars near Earth are red dwarfs... continue at Habitable Planet Found.

(Editor's Note: Since we published the alleged UFO film Italian Air Force UFO, we have received many email responses. I have not published them because there are simply too many. Suffice it to say, opinion was pretty much divided. Some think that the film was a total hoax, some think that it is a real object, whether terrestrial or extraterrestrial. Well, patience seemed to pay off, as the real story behind the film is now known. Here is the information that should clear up most of the questions.}
Information gleaned from the Virtual Updates boards: This is an old footage released by researcher Paola Harris in the US at the MUFON Symposium in 2005 and also at the IUFOC in Laughlin. Paola lives in Italy and is a prominent researcher and journalist. The YouTube and Google copies were taken from Paola's lecture at MUFON 2005 that is for sale on DVD. According to Paola, a seventh generation copy was given to her in Italy by an anonimous source under mysterious circumstances. There are still many obscure issues surrounding this footage and the case remains unclear. Paola Harris asked me to forward her response to this controversy. Santiago From Paola Harris: The Truth This old film footage I have been showing for 3 years and it was given to us, Italian Researchers... not by the Air force. It is our technology. I had a cassette examined in Hollywood by my friends Rob and Rebecca Gordon who had the connections and money to do it. It was a 7th generation - copied 7 times - cassette. It was given to us with no explantion. It is a real object in the film. It has been shown in my MUFON and Laughlin Presentations and someone put it on You-TUBE and Google! This all takes place in the Veneto region of Italy at a place called Ponte di Giulio, near Aviano NATO Base. It is a dry river bed where the military does maneuvers and the photographer was on a tripod waiting for the object to come out of the woods. I doubt aliens appeared there! Paola Harris

I was hunting in Medicine Bow National Forest, Wyoming, on October 25, 1974. I shot my rifle at an elk, and a very bizarre thing happened. The bullet traveled in slow motion, and fell about 50 feet away from me. I felt very strange, and then I saw an alien being standing nearby. Do you know who I am? Answer in next week's magazine. I captured something on video April 25, 2007, at 12:12 PM which shows
several UFOs moving independently of one another. Intelligent control is
what we call it and you can clearly see these objects moving with purpose.
I spotted these objects while sitting at one of the longest red lights in the valley and just happened to take my camera with me for the first time in 2 months. I guess it was in the cards that I was going to video tape this event whether I knew it or subconsciously knew it was coming. I was lucky to say the least. At first glance these objects looked like huge white birds, maybe crane-like but with further observation I can clearly see this was not birds, papers, planes, plastic bags from Walmart or balloons (for certain). It all happened in a matter of seconds, seeing them come towards me and then shoot upward looking like a video game or something from the matrix. They changed direction upward the same way migrating birds know where to go when flying so close together in a flock. They moved in unison and then spread out with many disappearing and some staying behind to hover or just move with a purpose. As if under intelligent control. I kept videotaping as long as I could see them and pulled over to a parking lot once the light turned green to video tape the last 2 min 30 seconds. What you see is something so rare it may have been captured in Mexico once or twice a few years ago but not to this extent. Where you can clearly see independent movement and objects changing direction with no wind near the ground. Yes, that tree in the video seems to be blowing and that's because I am on the side of the road where cars are passing by. I shot the whole thing in my car through the driver's window and sunroof in case I had to move my car to clear traffic. I did not want to risk losing the objects so I stayed in my car instead of getting out. The rest is history. By Frederic O. Sargent as told to Abby Weingarten
April 21, 2007-Frederic Sargent was studying economics at Colby College in Maine when the draft for World War II beckoned. In 1942, the 22- year-old joined the 415th Night Fighter Squadron of the Army Air Forces and studied at a series of radio schools. For 31/2 years, he was stationed throughout North Africa, Sicily, Corsica, Germany and England. As a corporal, he never flew, but his principal job was to take care of the lights on the landing strips for night fighters. He peeled potatoes in the kitchen police and learned the mechanics of aircraft engines. In 1946, as the historian for the group, he wrote an unpublished account of his unit's interaction with foo fighters, titled "Foo Fighters and the 415th." Sargent went on to teach economics at various U.S. universities before retiring to Sarasota with Shirley, his wife of 60 years. (Below are some of Sargent's writings and ruminations on the topic of foo fighters.)
"The British developed radar and night fighting, so when the U.S. went into World War II, we had to learn everything from the British. My squadron was the first one to do that. Our pilots and crew chiefs would go to England and Scotland to learn from the British. I was in the ground echelon, so I met up with them in North Africa. Pilots in the 415th encountered and reported 'foo fighters' (or luminous, unidentified objects) during the night over the German-occupied Rhine River valley. The sightings were recorded between November 1944 and April 1945, when the 415th was operating from landing strips in Dijon and Ochey, France. The sightings posed a baffling question to air war buffs, scientists, the media and the public. What were they? The pilots could find no explanation that fit all of the sightings. The Air Force was in a position to answer the question, as they had sequestered tons of German air war records. But their focus was on developing the next generation of fighters and bombers, not in information dissemination. The proliferation of sightings, or imagined sightings, of UFOs and flying saucers by people everywhere complicated the search for an answer. When the Allies captured the area east of the Rhine River, the foo fighter sightings ceased. A few investigative air science researchers studied records and archives in Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. Recent investigators point out a possible line of progressive development of radar invisibility from the foo fighter to the stealth fighter and bomber. Eventually, as the U.S. becomes militarily secure, the Air Force will probably declassify its records of German World War II research. Some excerpts from the unit's log: "Nov. 27, 1944: Lt. Edward A. Schleuter returned from a mission and reported that he saw a red light flying through the air. It came in about 2,000 feet off starboard and then disappeared in a long red streak. Dec. 15, 1944: A pilot's mission report stated: 'Saw a brilliant red light at 2,000 feet going east at 200 miles per hour in the vicinity of Erstein. Due to AI failure, could not pick up contact but followed it by sight until it went out. Could not get close enough to identify object before it went out." By Doug MoeApril 26, 2007-Last summer I was contacted by a Canadian computer systems engineer named Gord Heath. Heath had read a column I had written about the mysterious disappearance, in 1953, of an F-89 Scorpion jet over Lake Superior. The jet had been dispatched from the Kinross Air Force Base in Michigan to track an unidentified craft spotted on the Kinross radar. The F-89 was at Kinross on temporary assignment. Both the jet and its two-member crew, pilot Gene Moncla and radar observer Robert Wilson, were based in Madison at Truax Field. They were at Kinross as temporary replacements for personnel engaged in gunnery maneuvers in Arizona. News accounts from 1953, including a report in The Capital Times, said that Kinross radar tracked both the F-89 and the unidentified craft as they flew over Lake Superior. From the cockpit, Moncla said, "I'm going in for a closer look." Moments later, the two radar blips merged on the screen. What happened next, nobody knows, though there are abundant theories. In any case, the Truax F-89 and its two crew members were never seen again. Some in the UFO community have theorized that a the jet was gobbled up by an extraterrestrial ship. U.S. officials at first insisted that the unidentified radar blip was an off-course Canadian airliner, a version consistently denied by the Canadians. After my column last August -- which had been prompted by a Canadian newspaper story on the incident -- I heard from Heath, who, it was immediately clear, had done a great deal of research about the Kinross disappearance. He'd even made several visits to Madison. His purpose in contacting me was to impart startling news: A dive company, on its Web site, was claiming to have located what looked to be an F-89 Scorpion jet on the bottom of Lake Superior. If true, it would almost certainly have been the Truax jet that disappeared in 1953. As it turned out, the dive company's "find" appears to have been a hoax, although that is not certain. This much is: The Web site has disappeared. Over a few weeks late last summer, as the story unfolded, Heath and I spoke on the phone and exchanged numerous e-mails. He told me his last visit to Madison had been quite recent, just last July. A Canadian documentary film crew had accompanied him, Heath said. Heath was friendly, articulate, and impressively well-versed in the lore of the Kinross incident. But at some point during our communication it dawned on me that for Heath, something more was at work than finding the truth behind a mysterious event in U.S. Air Force history. Heath, I came to realize, believed that in some complex way he possessed memories that could only be the memories of Gene Moncla, the F-89 pilot. And he believed that the F-89 had indeed been abducted by a UFO in 1953. I am not a big believer in either reincarnation or extraterrestrials, so I didn't pursue that line of inquiry with Heath last year. I'd enjoyed our communication and left it at that. Now, though, the documentary film that was partly shot here last summer is not only finished, it aired twice in the last few weeks on Canadian television. The film is titled The Moncla Memories, and this week I spoke with its creator, Canadian filmmaker David Cherniack. Cherniack said he was working on a two-hour documentary on UFOs for the Canadian History Channel when he met Heath and decided Heath was worthy of a film himself. The film crew, traveling by RV, came to Madison last summer and shot film of Heath in Moncla's old Madison residence. Cherniack said that more than a film about UFOs, this documentary is about "memory, and how we construct our memories." What he liked about Heath, he said, "is that he has never been a true believer in his own recollections. He knows that they are potentially suspect." Which makes Heath different from many others who insist they have been touched in some way by aliens. In the new film, Heath details the memories and images that led him to the startling conclusion of his relationship with Moncla. One memory includes Heath's parents being present on the alien ship when Moncla was abducted, and Moncla being told he cannot return to his old life but might instead be reborn as another human. Gord Heath was born nine months after Moncla's F-89 disappeared. In the film, we learn Moncla's family has had a mixed reaction to Heath's memories. Cherniack, the filmmaker, suggested, and Heath agreed, to a DNA test. They would need a member of the Moncla family to participate as well, and an unidentified male agreed to the test. As it happened, Heath was with Cherniack in the filmmaker's RV last year when the results of the test were sent. Cherniack didn't look at the results himself. He set up his camera and asked Heath to open the e-mail, which would reveal whether or not Heath was genetically related to Gene Moncla. Heath sits at the computer. "What does it say, Gord?" a voice asks off-camera. Heath reads from the screen: "The result is consistent with males who do not share a common male lineage." There was no match. Heath, though, still has his Moncla memories, and questions linger, including what really happened to the Truax F-89 over Lake Superior in 1953. Late in the film someone says, "There are some mysteries out there we can't answer. They just have to stay a mystery." Heard something Moe should know? Call 252-6446, write P.O. At the 2nd Australian Symposium in Brisbane, Australia, a video
was shown of a supposed UFO crash in the New Mexico desert sometime
in early 1997. It depicts an object careening towards the desert
floor. The object bounces once before coming crashing onto the ground,
exploding and sending sparks flying.
While this footage may show an alien craft plummeting to its end, a number of experiments involving Edwards Air Force Base scientists and personnel are known to take place there. An American researcher who has a highly placed NASA source working at Edwards AFB said that a small scale model of the X-38 space 'Liferaft' crashed on a small scale test range, with the range control officer executing a self-destruct procedure before it landed. While it is difficult to form definitive conclusions as to the film's authenticity given the absence of camera specifications, original footage, eye-witness testimony or exact date, it is nonetheless very intriguing. The source of this video has never been established. It was first released publicly during a UFO conference in Australia in Brisbane. The crash allegedly depicts an unknown object which crashed into the deserts of New Mexico in early 1997. The object seems "lighter than air" as it bounces before it ultimately bursts into thousands of pieces. Although the film is very compelling as to the characteristics displayed by the unknown object, the fact that there is no source material, exact time or date, and location make it very difficult to evaluate. At best it is a great conversation piece, but adds no validity to the study of UFOs.

04-19-Last night was almost our typical Wednesday bar night... While leaving with some friends from their condo I noticed something flying towards the SSE direction over Warren, Michigan. When I looked up the first thing I thought of was "it looks like a car flying in the sky with its headlights on" that was the front view. I pulled out of the driveway and proceeded out of the complex. While traveling east on Chicago road my friend shouted and said to look up. From there we witnessed what looked like a huge plane that was going down. The rear view is what blew my mind-it looked like a HUGE stretched out "V" with lights around the back. As I was driving (and did not witness this) my friend commented that it made a sharp turn to the left and he could not see it anymore. I am so glad that he witnessed it as well. He would have been the first person to laugh at me if I told him the story from the solo point of view. from Z-source: www.ufocasebook.com |

04-14-Glen Hammer-It was a triangle shape with lights and one blinking. I thought maybe it was a airplane but as I looked closer it seemed to hover and what looked to be the top there looked like wavy-the rest looked black-it was dark out so I could only see a bit. It seemed to move quite fast and disappeared. I wanted to chase it so I got in my car, but couldn't see it. I looked everywhere while I was driving. Then by the Cottonwood Mall in Chilliwack, BC, Canada, it was hovering again-then moved slowly toward the highway picking up speed as if it knew I was chasing it. My girlfriend was with me. She saw it too. The blinking light looked separate with the lights as I could see. The distance was probably about 500 to 650 feet away from us. Patty C. source: www.ufocasebook.com |

April-Last week I was in Northumberland, England, and was journeying down to Cornwall. I was about 14 miles of stoke on Trent when I looked out of my window and saw a black disk come down through the sky with a trail of white orbs following it. It then, to my surprise, jumped into higher speed and flew away with the orbs following. I couldn't believe my eyes and didn't speak off it in case people thought I was lying. I was wondering if you could post this and see if any other sightings like this have happened.-Calum B. source: www.ufocasebook.com |

February-2000-Me and two Mexican men were traveling between Reynosa and Carmargo. We were driving at a speed of about 60 MPH, about halfway between the two towns, going east to west. We were on the other side of the Texas border. I was in the front passenger side and the other man in the back was sitting on the left side. I had looked out to the left of the vehicle at about a 45 degree angle. It was about 2 in the afternoon. Well, I saw this very huge object, metallic in color, about 2 or 3 stories high, and about 1/2 ball field long in the sky and stable-not moving. I first thought maybe it was a billboard but it was too big for that. I tried to spot some lights but we were moving too fast. I asked the driver if he had seen it, he spoke English, and said maybe it was an airplane but again it was too big for an airplane. I had never seen anything like it in my life. Could it has been a UFO? It was not the size of a building either. They do not have buildings that big on this highway. The driver of the vehicle and myself work together in McAllen, TX. The other passenger was his brother. He did not speak any English. A number of months later I found out from the driver, that his brother had seen the same object I did, and was amazed by it as well.-Mike |

03-30-It's the first time I write about anything like this, but I do believe that there must be someone else in this huge universe more that us. On the end of last month (30 march), I was going home after I'd taken a ride in my new BMW 318CI 2005 convertible, heading north from Benaider {chalet area by the southern coast near the Saudi Arabian border). It was around 11.50 PM and the sky was so clear-I was alone and there were some cars on the highway. I saw a strange aircraft- triangle-shaped, the size of a jumbo craft, but it was moving very slowly and had white lights at the end of each edge of the triangle-shape with a blinking one in the center of the craft. It was moving without any sound, like the airplanes do and heading from south to north. I didn't tell anybody about that and you know what they will say be cause here in Arabia they think that UFO issue is (bunk)... thanks-Nasser M.-government employee, 36 years old STATE OF KUWAIT-source: www.ufocasebook.com |

June-1984-I was a veterinary student and one morning I was walking through a field at about 5 a.m. in my native country in South America to a nearby farm to milk some cows, in a night full of stars. Then a felt something-I looked up about 40 or 50 ft. and saw a huge wheel with numerous blue lights and pipes above me. I could not believe what I was watching. It move slowly and then stopped. Suddenly out of nowhere there was a man wearing a long coat and a hat standing at about fifteen feet from me. I got nervous and started walking backwards and increasing my pace while at the same time I was watching the faceless man and the object above me. The object stared moving again and made a sudden turn disappearing at unbelievable speed, leaving only a blue line for a second. I ran away as fast as I could move my legs. That was about twenty three years ago.-Luis C. source: www.ufocasebook.com |
