Mike Conley's Tales of the Weird: Lawman Has a Close Encounter

Thursday, May 1, 2008-Early one morning, a deputy sheriff in Minnesota found himself blinded by the light of a UFO.
In the dark early hours of Aug. 27, 1979, Deputy Sheriff Val Johnson was driving his patrol car on a rural highway in Marshall County, Minn. not far from the North Dakota border. At 1:40 a.m., Johnson spotted a bright light along a group of trees some distance from his car.
At first, he thought it might be a downed plane so he turned his car in that direction to check it out.
Johnson noticed the weird light was not illuminating the surrounding area. Suddenly, the light started to move towards him and almost instantly covered an estimated mile and a half before resting above his car.
"I heard glass breaking and saw the inside of the car light up real bright with white light ... after the light hit my vehicle, I don't remember a thing," he later stated.
For some unknown reason, Johnson lost consciousness. When he awoke, his head was resting on the steering wheel. His patrol car had somehow skidded across the rural highway's southbound lane and now faced eastward. He also had vision problems, according to a Web site about the incident.
At this point, Johnson radioed the Marshall County Sheriff's Department in Warren, Minn. for help. It was 2:19 a.m. He told the dispatcher "Something just hit my car. I don't know how to explain it...I heard glass breaking and my brakes lock up. I don't know what the hell happened."
A fellow deputy sheriff, Greg Winskowski, soon arrived on the scene. He noticed that Johnson had a red bump on his forehead, and concluded that he had hit his head on the steering wheel and been knocked out. He called for an ambulance to take Johnson to the hospital.
At the hospital in Warren, Minn., a doctor tried to examine Johnson's eyes, but found that shining a light onto them caused Johnson extreme pain. The doctor compared Johnson's eye injury to "mild welder's burns," and gave him some salve and bandages. Johnson then gave a statement at the Sheriff's Office and was taken home.
The next morning, Sheriff Dennis Brekke himself took Johnson's patrol car to the garage to have it checked out. Mechanics at the garage found that the car was damaged in some strange ways. For example, the hood had a circular dent about a half-inch in diameter. There was a crack in the windshield which ran from the top to the bottom. The crack had four impact points which may have been caused by small objects.
The car's dashboard clock, set correctly at 7 p.m. when Johnson reported for duty, was now 14 minutes late. In addition, Johnson's wristwatch was also 14 minutes late. Other investigators found more weird damage to the car that couldn't be easily explained, according to the Web site.
After taking Johnson's patrol car to the police garage, Sheriff Brekke drove Johnson to the nearby city of Grand Forks, N.D. for a more thorough eye exam. The physician there found that Johnson's eyes had cleared up and his vision was fine.
Brekke later called the Center for UFO Studies in Evanston, Ill. He described Johnson's encounter to Allan Hendry, who agreed to immediately fly to Marshall County and check it out.
When he arrived, Hendry found that skid marks at the site of the encounter revealed his patrol car had skidded for 855 feet before the brakes locked up and it had continued to slide for another 99 feet. After interviewing numerous people in Warren, Minn. who knew Johnson, Hendry concluded he had not hoaxed the event. He also determined that an airplane could not have caused the damage to the patrol car.
The Val Johnson UFO incident received national publicity and became one of the best-publicized UFO reports of the 1970s. Johnson even appeared with Hendry on ABC's "Good Morning America" program.
Several of Johnson's friends urged him to take a lie detector test to prove he was telling the truth. They also urged him to undergo hypnosis to see if he could better remember the incident.
Johnson refused both requests saying he felt that undergoing hypnosis or a lie-detector test would only satisfy people's "morbid curiosity," according to the Web site.
So we may never know just what caused him to temporarily lose his eyesight or what happened during that missing time.

May 8, 2008-Lic. Daniel Sanchez Rosales, a resident of Mexico City, recorded an unidentified flying object that he describes as having humanoid characteristics.
The video was taken on February 28 of this year in the Moctezuma district, not far from Mexico City International Airport, at 6:50 AM.
It should be mentioned that the first one to see it was his nephew Quique (Erik) as left home toward his middle school.
It was then that he woke his uncle Daniel and they observed the phenomenon through binoculars, at first. During this observation, the witnesses described it as "a flying humanoid" resembling an astronaut. They claimed that it was facing them and it seemed to survey its surroundings.
As part of this investigation, I visited the household and interviewed the witnesses. Both seemed like honest people to me, and are not looking for either fame or fortune, merely a chance to share their experience. Daniel Sanchez Rosales, 36, is a graduate of the UNAM School of Law.
Research
After reviewing the video with filters, my conclusion is that it is authentic, but it is still necessary to determine the nature of what was recorded.
Objectively, we are aware that this could have an explanation: perhaps a balloon, but there are three aspects that draw our attention:
1. The recording has a 12-minute duration, and if we add to this the observation time through binoculars, the sighting was around 15 minutes, an uncommon period of time when we deal with balloons, as these are carried away by the wind, and it is hard to see them for an extended period of time.
2. At a given point in the video, the object or alleged humanoid makes descending movements, then remains static for a while, and subsequently rises again. This ascending and descending isn't quite so common with balloons.
3. At two moments during the recording, the dogs' reaction can be heard. They appear to be keening or expressing fear. This does not occur when balloons are involved, unless it is a huge coincidence (the witness has 2 Labrador Retrievers).
The object remains close to an air corridor. The background information here is that researcher Alfonso Salazar had reported the presence of UFOs near MCIA.

Cape Girardeau UFO Crash - Did It Happen?
Thursday, May 1, 2008-The recent strange light that appeared over Cape Girardeau reminded me of the alleged UFO crash that some claim happened right here in Cape back in 1941.
According to my research, in the spring of 1941 Red Start Baptist Church Preacher William Huffman was summoned to pray over an alien crash outside of Cape Girardeau. I wanted to get some facts so I did a quick search and discovered that Huffman's granddaughter, Charlette Mann lives in Tyler, TX.
Another search uncovered her phone number, so I called her for some details. Mann says she remembers seeing a picture from the crash and that her grandmother gave her the details of the Cape UFO crash before passing away.
During our conversation Mann informed me that with the help of a few others she is writing a book about the Cape Girardeau UFO crash. Mann pointed out that the Cape Girardeau UFO crash preceded the Roswell event several years.
Here's what I found interesting, during a television interview Mann says,
"…My grandfather came home and told the story to my dad, who was there, and my grandmother and my uncle. Now my mother was expecting at the time, so she was off in the bedroom. My sister was born May 3, 1941, so we are assuming this was the middle to the last of April…"
In other words, the Cape UFO crash allegedly occurred in mid to late April of 1941 and in mid to late April of 2008 folks in Cape are seeing strange lights over the city.

In a recent conversation with a contactee friend of mine the subject was brought up that the military should not be trusted and that all they were interested in was ET technology. My friend was upset and vocal saying that the contactees were being used as bait by the military. I had to remind my friend that just because some people in a crowd throw stones does not mean one should hold the whole crowd responsible for the attack.
Clearly the shadow government fascists at the top of the military and civilian chain of command responsible for extraterrestrial policy are only interested in technology because ET technology is their bread and butter along with finance, oil, drugs and arms. Global entrenched special interests have been covertly building a huge powerful shadow government the past 60 years based in a large part upon the exploitation of extraterrestrial technology. This shadow government has its own financing, its own private corporate armies like Wackenhut and Blackwater, CIA and other service commando death squads, propaganda operations in the media to mold public perceptions, and corrupt government and military officials that are interchangeable between government and industry.

This secret covert society has a global reach and is a developing cancer upon democratic society not only in America , but around the world as well. Of course these covert forces can be very effective in the short term but are the long term consequences of shadow government acceptable? Without extensive public and legitimate government oversight, shadow government can and is becoming a huge national security threat to national and global society in its own right.
I believe we have a global holocaust in making that is in a large part based in extraterrestrial reality but instead of destroying millions of unsuspecting people could potentially destroy billions once it becomes strong enough to become overt. Just as in prior holocausts a combination of excessive secrecy and deception combined with the unbelievable factor creates an environment favorable to the creation of shadow government. Over time this shadow government infiltrates and gains control over legitimate constitutional open government until finally it is strong enough to gain overt status. Then all hell literally breaks loose.
We only have to look to Germany prior to and during World War Two. The German Nazis covertly plotted and schemed for decades before they became strong enough to take over the weak German government. They were financed by wealthy global industrialists from America and elsewhere. The Ford and Bush families were actively involved in supporting this Fascist rise to power.
The Gestapo and the SS rose into being through a covert reign of terror against the German population and its legitimate leaders to later overtly attack populations around the world. Once the super-secret SS gained control over the German military a low level officer in the SS could easily order a military general in the regular army around bypassing the normal chain of command.
The SS were a parallel superior elite force that had priority status over regular military and so could provision and supply their activities like the covert Jewish extermination campaign through the regular military. Today in America and around the world history is repeating itself were shadowy constitutionally unaccountable commando and intelligence units have priority status and provision themselves from regular military supply depots. Many of the same wealthy powerful entrenched interests and families that have supported prior holocausts are once again on the move setting the stage for the next holocaust. The game is the same but with each turn becomes more sophisticated and Orwellian. One would think that world populations would learn from the past but that does not seem to be the case. I guess it’s our own dark collective nature in combination with a greater unknown reality that rises time and time again to subvert our better selves.
The question becomes how do we reverse this dark tide? I believe the answer in exposure. The shadow government is not yet strong enough to become overt so any light we can shine on it will diminish it. Covert terror tactics against honest citizens should be followed back to the source of the attack. An attack on one, is an attack on all, and all should become involved in this process of exposure and open disclosure. We in the UFO/ET field are doing our part in spite of the denial and ridicule heaped upon us.
June 12, 1976-Texas-In the late seventies I was living South Texas in a small town with a population of little more than 5,000 people. I was principal of our county-wide middle-school and the superintendent of schools was my neighbor across the street.
An oilfield worker lived next door to him and the three of us would sometimes sit out in our lawn chairs on the superintendent’s driveway chatting and enjoying the cool of the evening. None of us were drinking. It was a moonless night with no streetlights and the sky was crystal clear. Looking into the starry Milky Way was a beautiful sight. Occasionally we'd spot a satellite inching across the night sky.
The superintendent’s garage was attached to the house by an opened covered walkway about 18 or so feet long. I was sitting facing southwest and had a good view of the sky under and above the walkway. My neighbors were facing one north and one southeast.
A bright object arose either out of the southern sky, or it may have risen from the ground like ball lighting and it arced up and toward the north. It was shooting out sparks all around and making a sizzling, rapidly “shushing” noise. It appeared to be round and spinning, but I couldn't be sure of this or of its size and altitude.
It continued rising and arcing north and I lost sight of it momentarily as it passed behind the roof of the covered walkway. I looked straight up to see where it was going but it seemed to have disappeared.
Then as I gazed up I realized that there was a long, dark shape visible only because it was silhouetted by the bright starry sky.
It was black and as I stared up I became aware of one, then a second, large round port very, very dimly lighted. The sound was the most amazing part in that the dark shape was thrumming so low that I could only feel its vibration in my chest like the lowest notes of a pipe organ or far off thunder. The vibration was like an idling motor being revved slowly again and again.
I don’t know how long it stayed there but it began to drift slowly toward the west. The impression I got was that it just slid sideways until it dwindled to a dot and was gone. Could be that the object remained stationary and the earth rolled away to the east?
The three of us just sat there silently. Then I spoke up and said, “What do you think that was?”
The superintendent replied guardedly, “I don’t know.”
It was never mentioned again by any of us. Anyone seeing a UFO then or now is usually suspect.

1964-The Electromatic Light Wheel near Groote Eylandt
01-23-1964-The summary describes the report as follows:
“Seen at sea by crew of a vessel NE Point of Groote Eylandt, WA. Large lights in water, made compass go ‘Haywire’. Shadow in centre of lights rotated clockwise, causing lights to pulsate.”
Biologist, Ivan T. Sanderson, lists it in his book Invisible Residents – A Disquisition upon Certain Matters Maritime, and Possibility of Intelligent Life under the Waters of this Earth in a listing of submarine “Lightwheels”. Sanderson sourced his brief listing from a newspaper article.
The Air Force Intelligence files hold a report of the unusual sighting made by the crew of the landing craft Loellen M. The incident was located between Cape Grey and the northeast point of Groote Eylandt, a large island on the western side of the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory. The official summary incorrectly lists the incident as occurring in ‘WA” (Western Australia). The report mentions that the vessel encountered a number of submarine “light patches”:
C. W____ turned on the compass light and found the vessel approx 60°off course. The compass went ‘Haywire’.
As soon as he had corrected the vessel as best he could, he switched off the compass light and found the unnatural light was about 6ft. on the Starboard side. The light was in the water. It was described as a ghostly white light in the centre was a shadow which rotated in a clockwise direction causing the light to pulsate. The light appeared to draw away to the stern. It is estimated that it was miles across and a few hundred yards through…
“The light on the water passed about 100 yds to port. As the barge began to return to course, another light was seen coming at the barge at an angle of about 45° which [sic? – with?] the Bow. It came to within inches of the starboard side and appeared to rebound at 45° with the stern and moved away. It disappeared in a few seconds …”
“All lights were the same colour, with this strange rotating shadow, causing the lights to pulsate. The pulsations timed at 12 for 9 seconds, then completely irregular, then settled down to 12 for 9 seconds.
“The compass swung out of control, but became worse as the light approached …
This is a fascinating report but its origins may lie in some form of extraordinary bioluminescence.

Arizona-White and Red Lights
04-21-08-We live in Cave Creek and were driving home westbound on Lone Mountain between 7-7:30 PM on Monday evening. We first noticed the
object as soon as we turned onto Lone Mountain from Scottsdale Rd. We could see a single bright white light and red lights, and the object was descending slowly
south and east. We kept thinking it was a helicopter, but as we got closer and pulled over to stop and watch, we could clearly see the outline of the object which
was a trapezoid, with red lights on each corner, and as it moved at an angle it appeared to be a triangle.
It was either floating and silent or moving very slowly making very muffled "whooshing" vacuum-type sounds. We watched until it literally vanished before us. My
son took a photo with his cell phone and the time stamp is 7:31 PM. We had been watching it several minutes prior. It was as close to the ground as the distance of
flying a kite really high. We were fascinated and in awe, felt no fear. When we arrived home we called family members to talk about what we just witnessed and were
excited to see it on the news that evening.
We have been in this area for some time and are intimately familiar with air traffic patterns from the local airports. Deer
Valley, Carefree, and Scottsdale. This was not a plane and it was not a helicopter. We are amused by the claims of balloons and flares and while we don't know
what it was, we know what is was not and it was not balloons and flares. No way!
How would those items create the distinct shape of a trapezoid and where's
the explanation about how it traveled from the Deer Valley area east through the thousands of acres of state land peppered with gigantic above ground electrical
towers.
We are also a military family and have been around military bases and military aircraft for years, this is unlike anything we've ever seen. We will be

California-Large Triangle
05-07-08-As I was driving northbound I-5 To eastbound 76, I saw a large triangle glowing red above the clouds. The object was very large and took up
a large portion of the sky.
It had to be at least a mile in size. After getting home, I looked in the direction of the object and could still see the faint glow and a

South Carolina-Cylindrical Object
05-06-08-I was outside on the porch having coffee and a cigarette. We are about 25 miles from Charlotte airport and see many planes descending
for a landing or taking off. I happened to look to the southwest over the roof of the mobile home as something caught my eye.
There was one or two elongated, thin cylindrical objects above the trees. It could have been one object due to atmospheric conditions. They were bright as if having
the sun reflected off of it or them. They bounced around for the most part for I'd say 20 minutes. The object then sped off and disappeared.

Tennessee-Two Bright Objects
05-05-07-At about 9:00 PM last night I stepped outside to smoke my pipe. (I don't smoke in the house.) I do this a couple of times every night, and usually scan the sky as I'm
out, so I'm very familiar with what the night sky in my area looks like.
Last night as I was smoking I saw a steady, bright light moving from south to north across the eastern Sky at about 45 degrees. It didn't flash in any way I saw. I
had to step off my porch to follow it as it began to pass behind the trees in my yard. I followed it until I lost it behind the ridge line to my North.
I had just returned to my porch and was processing what I had seen, trying to decide what it was, when I glanced up and saw a SECOND light, identical to the first
and on the same track. I had to move off the porch again to follow this one as well, and again I followed it until I lost it over the same ridge, in the same spot, as the
first.
These were not like any lights I'm familiar with in our sky. I'm used to seeing planes and aviation lights come and go from Nashville International Airport 40 miles to
our north. These were not like any of those I have ever seen. They may have been satellites, although I have seen satellites before in our sky before and these lights I
saw were several degrees brighter. And I have never seen satellites moving on a straight south to north path before, and I have never seen two following exactly the

Mexico-Airliner Personnel Report UFO
04-27-08-Reports from Airliner Personnel: Ana Luisa Cid writes: Personnel from the Mexico City International Airport (MCIA) saw an airliner flying close to a UFO. The
event occurred on April 27 2008 at 15:43 hours, when the Aladia Boeing 757-200 commenced rising over the Mexican capital after taking off from the airport in
question.
According to calculations, the UFO was 38 meters long (estimating that it was half the length of the Boeing 757's fuselage). They added that the object was saucer-
shaped, white and remained static at an elevation of 5000 meters. Weather conditions: clear and sunny. Information on this case was received from researcher
Alfonso Salazar.

New Zealand-Bright UFO
05-04-08-Christchurch-On Sunday 4th of May I saw what I believe was a UFO in the skies about Christchurch, New Zealand. It was about 7:00 PM, and suddenly I had this
urge to look outside up in the sky. I don't know why I did, and it's a very strange feeling to try and describe. As I did, a bright light streaked across the sky directly
above my position.
It was not a shooting star, there was no tail and it was moving far too slow, but still too fast for a satellite. It was heading in a westerly direction. I have seen many
