Stan Romanek and the Alien in the Window
    www.stanromanek.com
    Original Title: Star Wars

Jeff Peckman may be spaced out, but alien expert Stan Romanek is the real little green man.

    By Jason Sheehan

Published: June 5, 2008-As the world now knows, a man named Jeff Peckman is fighting to get an initiative on the November ballot calling for the formation of an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver — which would deal with any problems that might arise should a group of day-tripping ETs decide to stop by. And last Friday, Peckman upped the ante by showing footage (to select members of the press, no photos or recording allowed) of an actual living, breathing alien peeking through a window. But here's the thing...

The video was just a piece of a much longer video shot by one of Colorado's own, Stan Romanek. And Stan? He's a weird guy. I was fortunate enough to catch a much longer dog-and-pony show he himself did for a standing-room-only crowd on the Auraria campus a few months ago. I'm fairly sure I was the only member of the press in attendance, seeing as how the vast majority of the crowd was drawn from the ranks of the UFO faithful. In short, Stan was preaching to the converted. And I was one of them.

Yes, I believe in UFOs. I believe in alien life. My wife and I have seen (and reported to the Mutual UFO Network) one UFO ourselves — not a spaceship, not an alien, but a truly unidentified flying object, outside Wagon Mound, New Mexico, six or seven years ago — and I have spent time since then hanging with the UFO community, trying to learn.

Which was why I knew Romanek's name. He is, to quote from his own website, www.stanromanek.com, at the center of "the most scientifically documented [case of] human/extraterrestrial encounters in the world. There have been well over 100 individually unique experiences that Stan has encountered since December, 2000 that remain unexplainable. Being abducted is only one of many experiences."

Among the believers, Romanek is a big dog. He's like Wayne Newton in Vegas. The man really packs 'em in. And when he showed the full cut of the alien-peeking-through-a-window video to the faithful? Needless to say, the room went nuts.

But not me. I was just disappointed. It looked so patently fake, so ridiculously cheap and goofy. In the course of the presentation, Stan had laid out so much other evidence that was so much more compelling (including examples of automatic writing, mathematical equations, additional photos and videos of UFOs and more) and plenty that wasn't (recorded phone calls from aliens, photos of aliens in his back yard that looked like nothing more than plaster dime-store garden gnomes, a purchase order for a computer bought for him by mysterious "helpers") that the final reveal — the little squash-headed "alien" blinking and staring into the house — just seemed to me like bullshit icing on a highly questionable birthday cake.

Setting aside any question of whether or not the footage is real or faked, Peckman's recent showing worked out well. It's gotten press all over the planet (and possibly beyond), and Peckman is the one getting all the ink. My question, though, is where's Stan in all this?

Oh, that's right. He's the one holding the video, refusing to post it to the web or allow it to be shown in public, accepting no sort of peer review or criticism beyond a few attempts at having the expurgated footage authenticated by local film experts. The reason? He's in the process of trying to complete (and sell) a documentary about himself: Starseed: The Stan Romanek Story, coming soon to theaters near you.

And to me, this is the most disturbing part. I understand the impulse to try and make a buck off what, if true, would be the biggest news story in history, but seriously? Some things are more important than a dollar. And if this video truly is as real as Romanek and Peckman claim it is, it needs to be released, in toto and immediately, so that everyone can have their look, have their say and make up their own minds as to whether or not "they" really are out there.

UFO Sighting near Llanbedr Air Field, North Wales
    Llanbedr Air Field
Myself and my family where camping in sand dunes at the Shell Island camping ground in Gwynedd, North Wales. This Island is located next to the village of LLanbedr, south of Harlech.

My wife and youngest daughter had gone to bed, leaving my oldest daughter (14) and myself watching the stars in the sky and chatting away-the time was about 01.30 on Saturday, May 31. After looking at the stars for maybe 30 minutes, I noticed a light moving out over Cardigan Bay, moving towards the southeast. I told my daughter who also began watching the light, and after several seconds, my daughter pointed out that it looked like an airport stair unit, with a drive unit and a staircase on its back at an angle.

She also pointed out that it was very bright with no flashing lights of any kind. As it came closer, it began to make a very wide left turn towards the village itself. My daughter became agitated because I couldn't explain what we were watching. The light semed to stop behind the disused RAF airbase at Llanbedr and hover. We could not tell if it was over the base itself or over the hills behind the village.

After several more minutes I could see a distinctive shape of a diamond. The object was very, very bright white on the bottom and the top seemed to have a strip of red lights running up the outside of the object on one side only, making it look like a inverted pyramid with a angled pole on top. There were no flashing lights at all. About 15 minutes after we first saw the object, my daughter saw lights flashing around near the airport with torch beams shining into the sky and turning and moving like several people running with torches. My daughter became scared and decided to go to bed, and try to forget, saying there could be a lot of things it could be, which I have to disagree with.

The object made no noise of any kind, and we had seen several planes the night before and they looked nothing like this did. I watched for an unknown amount of time before the object moved upwards and then shot off at speed towards the Snowdonia National Park, and out of sight in seconds.

I tried to take a picture but I couldn't hold the camera steady. Also it was very hard to see to focus or find in the camera's view finder. I have to add that the air base is mothballed and unused. It did use to be a V-bomber base for Britain's nuclear bombers. There have been recent rumours of it being reopened, but I heard that from a local I told about what I had seen.

In my opinion, this was not any aircraft I have ever seen, and not a blimp or balloon.

My name is ____ , and I live in Liverpool UK. My daughter Susan also witnessed the object. I spoke to 3 locals about the object and they said these objects are often seen in the area.

I promise this account is true and I have written all I can remember. I do not remember any other strange effects such as smells or noises. I did not lose any time or have any ill effects. Kindest regards,

    C.

Editor's Note: Llanbedr Airfield, now disused, is situated near to the sand dunes of Cardigan Bay, the site is clearly visible from the nearby tourist caravan park at Shell Island. The National Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre is situated 100 meters from the old guard room and you can still see the old control tower. There is no access to the site at the moment.

Reader Relates Two UFO Sightings in New Mexico
New Mexico Sighting I'll give you a short history of myself before I start with my sightings. I was born in El Paso, Texas, in 1966 and adopted into an Air Force family. Growing up in the Air Force, I had the pleasure of living in England, Africa, and many U.S. states. I am and have been familiar with every kind of aircraft, commercial and military, as long as I can remember. I went to high school in San Antonio, Texas, and served four years in the Army afterwards.

I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I moved to New Mexico and lived there for eight years, fell in love and followed my significant ex to her home state of Massachusetts where I lived for four years. I currently work for an aviation company in San Antonio, Texas.

I don't exactly know when, how, or why my interest started in UFOs, but I know that after reading John E. Mack's 'Abduction' in 1994, my curiosity had the best of me. I have gone on to read many books on the subject of UFOs and abductions (well over 100). I am an avid camper and sky watcher. The objects that I've seen while camping have probably only been satellites.

In May of 1996 (on a Sunday-sorry, but I don't remember the exact date) at around 1100 hrs on a crystal clear blue sky day, I was driving my jeep in Ruidoso, NM. I was pulling up to a stop sign on a short street named Ivy. For some unknown reason, I happened to look up, my head over the steering wheel, and saw a metallic disk just above the trees (approximately 75 ft to 125 ft). The disk was moving quite slow (probably 20 mph). There was absolutely no sound coming from the craft. I would estimate the size of the disk to be about 40 ft in diameter. I could only watch it for about 10 seconds before the trees impeded my view.

When I returned back to work on Tuesday a colleague, Charles, asked me if I had spoken with Gina yet? (another colleague). I told him no, at which time he informed me that she had seen a UFO. I became very excited upon hearing this. I asked Charles if he would ask Gina to come talk to me when she had a chance. She came to see me within the hour.

We went to a private room where she described seeing the exact same type of craft, but on the day after I had seen it (Monday). She witnessed the disk while driving on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, about 10 miles from the location of my sighting. She also described the disk as silent and moving slowly. She observed the UFO for over a minute until the mountainous terrain obstructed her view.

Gina was completely freaked out at what she had witnessed. Her husband, John, was a Bureau of Indian Affairs police officer. I asked her if she had told him about it. She told me she hadn't told him yet. Perhaps she thought he wouldn't believe her, I don't know. She did tell me that she didn't sleep at all that night. I told her that she shouldn't be frightened, but to instead feel fortunate to have seen such a thing. After talking with her about it I think her fears were calmed a bit.

Ruidoso, New Mexico, is a resort town that has skiing, golfing and a casino, Inn of the Mountain Gods. The mountain is named Sierra Blanca, and has an elevation of over 13,000 feet. Whenever there is a meteor shower, my friends and I would drive up the mountain and watch. At that elevation a meteor shower is quite spectacular.

In October of 1997 (2200 hrs), me and about 10 friends went up the mountain to about 11,000 feet to watch a shower. After watching the shower for about 30 minutes my friend's 12-year-old daughter was the first to notice an extremely bright light. It would sit motionless, then suddenly move around very fast in an erratic pattern. It would then come back to a complete stop.

After sitting motionless for another 30 seconds to a minute, it would again repeat its erratic movements, but in a different pattern. We were not imagining this, it was quite obvious. Each time it would start its pattern we would all scream, at the same time, "There it goes, there it goes."

The object itself was about the size of a round baby aspirin at arm's length and was bright white. We forgot about watching the meteor shower and were fully concentrated on the UFO. We watched this for about an hour until the object simply disappeared. We were certain that the object was under intelligent control. Sincerely,

    Jeffrey S.

Strange Being on the Golf Course
    UFO Casebook-Depiction
Edinburgh, Scotland-June, 2008-I met my first ET last night, a really weird experience. My wife and I took the dogs for a walk at midnight on the Braid Hills golf course. After following a path to the summit of one of the hills, the path then flows downhill into a valley, this is when I noticed what I call the cellophane UFOs, as you do not see it all, it's like a large sheet of cellophane rippling in the wind above you. Normally when I come across them they are small, or look small, about four square yards. But in this case it seemed at least fifty square yards then it was gone.

We continued our walk along the valley then across the green to the return path that is at the other side off the hill. At this time I was looking up trying to see any other UFO and my wife had wandered about thirty yards in front of me when I saw her watching something on a green half way up the hill. When I arrived beside her, she told me someone was watching us and pointed to the area, and at first I saw nothing, then a man came into view who seemed to bend over to do something. Now he was about fifty to one hundred yards from us so I assumed he was doing the same as us, walking a dog, so we continued our walk still watching his movements as it was midnight in the middle of nowhere so better safe than sorry.

As we followed the return path it took us up towards the green where we could still see what we took to be a man moving around on the green so even though it was quite light, I switched on my torch and highlighted my dogs. One is a longhaired German shepherd, and the other is a cross between ridgeback and great Dane, both big dogs. I then turned my torch off again, and continued up the hill to the return downhill path to the car park: this took us to about fifteen yards from the man who at this time had turned and moved about two yards in our direction then stopped.

I now could see him very clearly - his height was the first thing we noticed as he must have been over seven feet tall, very thin, dressed all in black. It was then that I noticed my wife kept referring to him as them, but as I could only see one I did not mention this at the time.

We continued walking up to the green, then we reached the downhill stretch of the path. we must have been about ten yards from him so we stopped and looked at him and he just continued to stand still and look at us. This is when we could see he was a lot taller than seven feet - he was big, but very thin. He then moved over about two yards then stopped, and we just continued our walk down to the car.

It was not until I started it and put on my lights ready to leave that the whole episode became clear and we started discussing the event. My wife was adamant that their were two people, dressed in black, both very tall, even though I only remember seeing one. The other strange fact is we cannot remember seeing a face, only a tall black human shape, with arms, legs, etc.

I noticed a belt with what looked like silver buttons on it. Apart from that, we cannot remember any other detail ablut the person. The other strange fact is that the dogs did not seem to notice him, were very calm, just wandering about as usual, and that is very unusual for them as they normally stick close when nearing someone and get defensive.

My wife and myself felt no threat at all or any fear and that is very unusual for my wife as she spooks very easily, even though I had my camera with me I had no inclination to take a photo, yet this would have been the first move I would normally make. We had no missing time and if we did it would only be about fifteen minutes. The whole thing was really very weird.

    1958 UFO News Had Flair
    UFO-Depiction
    David Allen

Article Launched: 05/31/2008 04:57:04 PM PDT

WITH AREA 51 back in our consciousness thanks to the new Indiana Jones movie, let's review a UFO sighting from the Jan. 8, 1958, Ontario Daily Report.

Headline: "Mystery Object In Sky Identified As Balloon." Helpful sub-headline: "With Flare Attached."

Well, that says it all - almost.

Air traffic controllers at Ontario International Airport - yes, it was International even back then - offered the balloon-with-flare explanation after reports of lights in the sky over Pomona.

A member of the Understanding Group, which was apparently devoted to inquiry, spoke to the Daily Report after seeing the floating lights.

Just as the group's meeting in Pomona broke up, the man said, departing members caught sight of the UFO and watched it for a full two hours.

The Understanding Group was certainly primed for lights in the sky. By odd coincidence, its main topic of discussion that evening had been "earth visits by space ships."

UFO Update: Visitors' Identity Still a Mystery
    UFO-Saltcoats, UK
    Published: Thursday, 29th May, 2008 12:00-

    By Fiona Simpson

THE SIGHTINGS of strange objects in the skies over Saltcoats more than a month ago continue to fascinate people in the local community - and Herald readers around the world.

The owner of a factory in Thailand, Ron de Jong, emailed us this week with his own take on the mystery.

“I have read your article about the possible UFO sightings in your town,” said Ron.

“I am the owner of a Chinese sky lantern manufacturer in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, and we have a website which shows around 10 videos of the many shapes and sizes that our lanterns come in and I thought you may find this useful. As I do not know enough about your sightings I cannot be the judge but maybe you can come to a conclusion.”

After viewing several videos of the fireworks we are still unsure that lanterns are the cause of the sightings on April 27. Although they go high in the sky it would depend on the weather to simulate the same movement. And as some reports say that the UFOs changed shape - and others claim that they moved in odd patterns - it would be impossible to definitely state that people had seen Chinese lanterns.

This week The Herald has also been looking into past UFO sightings by delving into recently-released Ministry of Defence MoD files.

It appears that the area around Saltcoats has been a major hotspot for strange lights in the sky over the years. And as many readers will remember, West Kilbride was dubbed “the new Roswell” (the American desert site where eyewitnesses claimed to have seen aliens landing in the 1950s) in 2004 as no fewer than 12 reports of strange lights flooded in.

It appears that all the recorded sightings in local skies took place between the months of April and May and between 10pm-12am. One of the most bizarre recordings of lights over West Kilbride was on May 30, 2004 when one eyewitness claims to have seen five bright lights flying together around 12.15am. Another strange sighting was later on in the year on November 26, where a witness reported seeing 25 flying objects in groups of five fly over and head north.

But West Kilbride isn’t the only place that has had some strange sightings. According the MoD files, on November 19, 1996 a witness saw large, bright orange lights in the sky over Dalry at around 11.30pm. The sighting lasted for 15 minutes and is very similar to the reports we have received recently.

If anyone has any more information about past or present sightings of strange lights then contact the Herald Office on 01294-464321.

    Texas-Saucer-shaped Object
04-26-08-Four of us were traveling North to Miter Peak in West Texas on Highway 90 from Alpine, Texas, close to Fort Davis. I did not take down the exact time, but it was daytime and about twenty to thirty minutes before sunset. The driver of the van we were in saw the UFO and said, "That is why people believe in UFOs," and then said "Look at that!"

Three of us saw the saucer-shaped UFO that filled the saddle of the mountain. The fourth passenger is visually impaired and could not see the UFO. It was off the ground about 100 feet. It was the shape of two symmetrical wide-shaped saucers with a small (1/3rd the size of the top side of the saucer) tophat looking. The sides of the top were vertical and the top was circular and flat.

The color was a shade of silver that looked like machined steel. There were no other visible markings, windows, lights, or anything else that were observable. It was daylight and the sun was shining down on the top. On the bottom, the UFO was dark but distinct against the skyline.

The size of the UFO had to be very large. I am guessing the size of a WWII battleship, but perhaps it was smaller. It filled the center of the saddle of two mountains about two miles away. The driver continued driving while we were trying to figure out what to do. We drove for about a minute with the UFO still in sight as we all began to pull out cell phone cameras. We pulled over and got out of the van but the UFO had moved North about ten miles away and stopped above the horizon in one moment. By the time we took pictures it had moved again slightly East and another ten miles or so away. The UFO was small but distinctive on the horizon about twenty miles away, but could not be distinguished on my cell phone pictures.

I would have made a report of something sooner if I had a good picture of this daylight sighting of a UFO, but with all of the news about UFOs in Texas, I thought it might be a good thing to report. I looked all over the Internet to see if any of the pictures of UFOs matched the one we saw, but none were the exact symmetrical shape or they had a rounded top. I hope that reporting this helps. source: www.mufon.com

    Texas-Light Comes from Object
05-25-08-On Sunday, May 25, at approximately 11:30 PM, we were all out in the back, burning some wood, and looking at the stars. We had seen about 4 shooting stars, and about 3 satellites orbiting that night. My sister was looking towards the West, a little ways to the left of the Big Dipper, and she noticed what we thought was another satellite. Everyone found it and began to look at it for a second. I saw that the light was getting brighter, and I mentioned it. Everyone was saying, "Oh my gosh, it is!"

Next thing you know, it looked as if a light came out from underneath, and shined a huge spotlight. Keep in mind, it was far enough to look as if it was a satellite, so there weren't any rays we could see from the UFO. It shined for about 5 seconds, then as it started to dim again, the UFO shot quickly to the right, then faded away.

It was NOT a military plane, because nothing we have in the military does that. And it was not a helicopter because it was WAY too high. All my life, I have told people "You can't believe that we are the only beings in the universe. They are way more advanced than we are, whatever they are! My sister is a true believer too, and we were so amazed by what we saw, we both can't stop thinking about it. source: www.mufon.com

    Virginia-Low Flying Object
05-13-08-South Boston-11:00 PM-The witness was driving south on route 360 east on her way to work, a few miles north of South Boston. As she approached the area adjacent to Tuck Airport, which is about 4 miles off of 360, she noticed the object and wondered why a plane was so low over the highway. She then looked closer, and saw an object that looked like a pontoon off of a pontoon boat above the highway's medium strip. She said it was about the height of the water tower in town which is about 80 feet at most and a very shiny, silver color.

She said it was the size of a small commercial jet without the wings. She said it appeared to be watching traffic, and as she was looking to see if it had wings or a tail, she ran off the pavement and hit the gravel. She noted there was little traffic on the highway and looked to see if anyone else was looking up to see it, but it seemed as if no one was. She said in all, she observed it for about 30 seconds and after about 10 seconds it began to rise up (she thinks it may have seen her van serve) to the southwest, then it just disappeared.

She said she was very excited by the sighting and could not believe something that big could disappear that fast. Of interest I filed a report from this same area (Clover VA) back in 2001 where I interviewed one of three police officers that chased a brightly lit triangle from Clover back to the Clover power plant. source: www.mufon.com

    Canada-Object Shoots Light Underneath
05-25-08-Thornhill, Ontario, Canada,-Clear skies with light clouds-About 1:00 PM, I was at a gas station and I looked up and I saw what looked like a star, but it was moving so I assumed it was a satellite. I kept watching it, and it started to move in different directions. Then another light shot down underneath it for a moment, then shot back up out of sight-kind of like a shooting star going the wrong way.

A moment later 3 more lights appeared beside the first light. They hovered around the first light for a few minutes before they disappeared. The first one then faded out of sight not long after. At the end of the sighting, I saw a low flying plane. Very Strange... Jenny-source: www.ufocasebook.com

    United Kingdom-Two Objects Seen
05-31-08-I live in Bristol in the UK, and I have one of my own stories to report. It was the night of 31/05/08 at about 2215. My wife and I were at the top of the garden having a few drinks on a clear summer evening. We usually sit out when the weather is good as we sometimes watch the planes going into Bristol airport, but on this night, we saw two bright objects-one white in color, and the other light was yellow.

Flying side by side closely together, they were flying directly over our house in Downend, but we noticed as they passed over the yellow object was revolving under the white one and not flying side by side. We can't believe what we were seeing. They were not planes as there were no FAA lights underneath, and there was no noise, just a low humming noise as they passed over.

I wish we were able to take some video footage, but my wife's camcorder battery was flat and we don't normally take a camera in the garden at night. But from now on we will, that's for sure. This is the first time we ever saw anything like this in all the years we have both been on this planet. I've always been a believer in life somewhere else in the universe, and we will always keep looking up at the skies that's for sure. source: www.ufocasebook.com
