Government Reveals UFO Sightings
UFO By Matt Wilkinson

Defence chiefs remain "open-minded" about life on other planets after revealing they logged more than a dozen UFO sightings above Oxfordshire in eight years.

Government files yesterday highlighted the number of sightings in the county reported by the public to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) between 1998 and 2006.

There have been three sightings in Oxford during the period, including a bright white halo seen heading north west in 2001.

City sightings also included an oval object with green, red and blue flashing lights spotted in 2000 and a spinning oval with about 250 lights reported in 1998.

In total, 13 reports had been logged with the MoD and the biggest year for sightings was the millennium, when four separate reports were recorded.

The most recent incident was of a structure which glinted like metal, spotted above Banbury in June last year.

Elsewhere, in June 2001, an object four times the size of a star was spotted shining brightly as it moved north over Eynsham.

Two months later, a person in Chipping Norton reported several very bright purple, green and white objects in the sky.

While in February 1998, a witness reported a very large object like a firework rocket descending over the A34 near Abingdon.

But UFO expert Michael Soper, from Marston, in Oxford, a member of the Contact International UFO research group, believes there have been hundreds of sightings in the skies above the county over the same period.

He said: "People here do report things relatively readily and state very closely what they see and with no embellishment at all."

He added that a family from Faringdon had notified him of a particularly nasty alien abduction, while Uffington and the Rollright Stones were known as 'window areas' because so many UFOs are spotted there.

He said: "Oxford gets exciting reports of objects in the sky and there are several reports of abductions in Oxfordshire."

Frances Morrill, 51, of Eynsham, saw a large orange and pink sphere above Wytham Woods in the late 1970s which she believes was a UFO.

She said: "It has stayed with me today. I know other people who have said they saw things up there.

"I think it's all kept secret because no one wants to scare us to death. I always keep my eye on the sky and haven't seen anything else - and I don't want to."

The MoD is preparing to publish all UFO files dating back to 1967, including witness reports of apparent UFO sightings - many by civil pilots and military personnel.

A spokesman for the MoD said: "We do not have any expertise or role in respect of UFO matters - or to the question of the existence or otherwise of extra-terrestrial life forms - about which we remain totally open-minded."

The MoD examines reports to see if UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

The MoD said "rational explanations" - such as aircraft lights-- could be found if resources were pointed in the right direction.

Mysterious Object is a Return Visitor to Liverpool
UFO Aug 2 2007

by Ed Casson, Maghull and Aintree Star

ON the sunny afternoon of Wednesday July 25, Lee Jones of Anfield looked up from the back garden of his home and saw something which terrified and mesmerised him.

An enormous saucer-shaped craft emerged slowly from the cumulus clouds and hung in the sky.

The UFO was so large, a passing commercial airliner was dwarfed against it, leading Lee to estimate the unidentified craft’s size as over a mile in diameter.

He ran in and fetched his wife and mother-in-law, and they too saw the gigantic circular craft – the colour of ‘grey gun-metal’ – hanging in the summer sky as clouds drifted over its surface, obscuring the mysterious visitor.

After about fifteen minutes of peeping out from the clouds, the UFO was nowhere to be seen.

Had something its size taken off at high speed, a sonic bang would have rocked Merseyside, but no such boom was reported.

Lee’s account is just one of many reports I have received, describing what might be one and the same gargantuan UFO.

Earlier this year in January, a Mr Fraser of Childwall was taking a nightly stroll down Menlove Avenue when he noticed several lights in the sky.

Mr Fraser quickly realised these pinpoints of light were on some darker circular object of an enormous size.

The huge disc-shaped UFO moved slowly from the direction of Halewood across the sky, and Mr Fraser and a female passer-by watched it head towards Netherley.

That same week, a geometric formation of lights was seen over Huyton, Page Moss, Dovecot and Broadgreen.

One witness, a pizza-delivery man, said he saw a ‘giant round object in the sky with a mixture of coloured lights’ which he estimated to be about the size of the metropolitan cathedral.

The person he delivered the pizza to also saw this object and tried to video it.

Throughout June, this same colossal UFO seems to have been seen by people in the Dingle, Aigburth, Grassendale and Hunt’s Cross, and all these sightings were of a night.

A retired local policeman named Colin and an aviation expert from Runcorn named Greg have joined forces to get to the bottom of the giant UFO sightings, and initially believed the reports were misidentifications of the planet Venus, misinterpretations of aircraft landing and navigation lights and so on, but now they accept that these explanations do not pan out.

Electronics enthusiast Greg has built his very own radar unit using satellite dishes, and has even obtained data on the mysterious mammoth UFO.

He has ascertained that it is almost a mile in length and hovers at an altitude of around 7,000 feet.

His colleague Colin was a confirmed sceptic until he saw the UFO during a ‘skywatch’ vigil with five other people at Tarbock Green.

‘It blocked out the stars when it came into view at 3 am,’ says Colin.

MoD Probes Whitehaven UFO Sighting
UFO Published on 01/08/2007

THE Ministry of Defence has given a first glimpse into Cumbria’s own ‘X-files’ on UFO sightings in the county. Details revealed under the Freedom of Information Act show the MoD recorded four UFO sightings in north and west Cumbria since 1999.

The most recent was on September 13 last year in Whitehaven at 9.45pm. It is recorded as “a triangular object with lights. One green, one red and the other two amber. There was a strange droning noise as it passed overhead”.

Other reports from the MoD show a sighting in August 2000 at Crosby near Carlisle, where the entry reads: when it is claimed there was a “Disc shape with hump on top. Was definitely not an aeroplane. Was low down in the sky.” And in August 1999 there wasthe previous year also saw a report from Carlisle just before 9pm of “two blue balls of light – dancing around in the sky”.

The final sighting, also in Carlisle has no date recorded. However, the spotter said the vision was of “Lucifer-like things, that are seen every day. They hold people in their homes and are a nuisance.”

Every year more than 100 UFO sightings are reported to the MoD, which are detailed in the information just published. Although the MoD does not have any expertise in respect of UFOs, it is required to investigates every sighting in order to establish whether or not the UK’s airspace has been compromised.

The study of unidentified flying objects is known as ufology and if the reports are to be believed there were an additional five sightings in south Cumbria, plus a further record just listed as ‘Cumbria’ where 40 orange and red lights were seen in the sky.

Witnesses claim they saw a UFO in Kendal in 2005, a bright star moving around like a kite in Storth in May 2004 and circular flashing lights in Ulverston in August 1999.

Furthermore it is claimed in October 2000 there was a “bright metal star with no jet stream” in Keswick and in February the same year, two bright lights above Bowness-on-Windermere.

An MoD spokesman said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

“If required, sighting reports are examined with the assistance of the Department’s air defence experts. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.”

However, correspondence between the MoD and members of the public who report sightings of strange objects reveals that Whitehall officials remain “totally open-minded” about the existence of UFOs.

Details of the UFO sightings by members of the public between 1999 and 2006 were released in response to a series of Freedom of Information requests.

It comes as the MoD Prepares to publish its UFO files dating back to 1967.

The documents due for release are witness reports of apparent UFO sightings, many by civil pilots and military personnel.

It is thought most were simply collected and filed by a small, secret unit within defence intelligence, but a few were investigated further by the military. There are 24 files due for release, each containing 200-300 reports of sightings, plus internal MoD briefings and correspondence.

The Real X Files-John Greenewald Jr.
UFO John Greenewald Jr. has been digging for the truth about extraterrestrials since he was a kid. His online "Black Vault" may be the biggest UFO database in the world.John Greenewald Jr. By KEVIN SITES, TUE AUG 7, 9:12 AM PDTJohn Greenewald Jr.

ENCINO, California — Motivated by curiosity, fueled by obsession and empowered by the Freedom of Information Act, John Greenewald Jr. has assembled what may be the largest collection of UFO documents in the world. John Greenewald Jr. has gathered half a million UFO-related government documents over the past decade. And it's all online for anyone to see — which is the way the 26-year-old Californian thinks it should be.

As a teenager, Greenewald was fascinated by UFOs. Like many other kids in the 1990s, he used the Internet to learn more.

But simple Web searches weren't enough for Greenewald. When he discovered something interesting about UFOs, he wanted hard copies, so he asked for them.

Before he even had a driver's license, Greenewald was writing to the CIA, the NSA, and the Defense Intelligence Agency — requesting government documents about UFOs using a 40-year-old law called the Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA.

FOIA requests, frequently used by journalists and watchdog organizations, compel federal agencies to provide declassified information to any citizen that requests it. Greenewald says he's made well more than 2,000 FOIA requests.

And he says it's been worth the effort, yielding about half a million documents from the government.

The first one he requested concerned a UFO sighting in Iran in 1976 — a large rectangular object with pulsing colored lights. When a fighter jet scrambled to intercept it, the report says, its instruments went haywire.

Greenewald scans most of his documents and archives them online on a website he calls the Black Vault, where anyone with an interest in the paranormal can check them out.

"I thought to myself, 'Hey, if I'm looking for this, other people have got to be looking for this,'" Greenewald says.

Getting information from the government is no easy task. Agencies don't always jump to fill the orders — Greenewald has waited years for some of them.

"I've learned specifically that the U.S. government and military cover up a lot." — John Greenewald Jr.

And the agencies are finicky, rejecting requests if they are too vague or narrow. Even when a request is just right, the information may be classified.

"I've learned specifically that the U.S. government and military cover up a lot," says Greenewald. "It doesn't matter what subject you're dealing with, it doesn't matter what time frame you're dealing with."

The biggest cover-up of all, he says, is Area 51 in Nevada — which is the center of many UFO conspiracy theories. For years the government denied it even existed. It still doesn't appear on any maps. But Greenewald has a letter in his Black Vault from the Department of Energy acknowledging that Area 51 was annexed by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in 1958, and that the area now part of Nellis Air Force Base.

As to America's most famous UFO legend, the alleged crash of a flying saucer in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico, Greenewald says the government has changed its story several times — calling it everything from a weather balloon to an Air Force crash test.

The documents Greenewald has collected may show that the government has been less than totally honest about some of the incidents. But when asked what they're trying to cover up and why — he's uncertain.

"These documents, letters, memos, reports... they're not written like books," he says. "They're not written like storylines where you can read through and see. They're just clues. You've got to put them together. What does the story say overall?"

Greenewald has turned that puzzle into his profession. A sought-after expert in the UFO field, he produces TV documentaries and hosts a weekly Internet radio show that is available on his Black Vault site.

Does Greenewald himself believe in extraterrestrial life?

"I'm 99.9% sure and I believe in something out there," he says. "Have they been here? I don't know. Have I seen them? No."

Perhaps the mystery itself is enough — as long as it helps pay the rent.

Where are all the UFOs?

UFOs: The First Encounters

Alien Abductions

UFO Museum Gets National Attention
UFO Aug. 7, 2007-ROSWELL, N.M., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A UFO museum in Roswell, New Mexico, has been getting some national attention in recent weeks.

After chatting with Larry King on CNN last month, Julie Shuster, executive director of the International UFO Museum and Research Center, also will be featured on CBS News Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood Aug. 12, the Roswell (New Mexico) Daily Record said Tuesday.

At the museum taping a segment for the show last week, CBS News science and technology correspondent Daniel Sieberg told the Record the piece is loosely tied to the 60th anniversary of Roswell's legendary "UFO incident."

The museum’s Web site describes the incident as “the crash of an alleged flying saucer, the recovery of debris and bodies, and the ensuing cover up by the military.”

The CBS show will take a serious look at the UFO phenomena.

"It's an overall look at where the UFO sightings are today," said Sieberg, formerly with CNN. "No matter where you fall in the debate of their existence, I think people are curious."

Program producer Amiel Weisfogel said he was interested in presenting the latest status of UFOs and how the "realm of science fiction has inserted itself into the legitimate scientific debate."

1985-Close Encounter on Interstate 84, Connecticut
Photo taken in 1985, click for enlargement

In the past, the state of Connecticut has always been an area of few UFO reports, however this is no longer true. Since 1985 the counties of Fairfield and Litchfield and Hartford has seen a dramatic rise in the number of UFO reports. This UFO is described as being a semi circle or boomerang with multi-colored lights. Even more incredible the size of this UFO has been reported to be the length of a football field!.

This UFO that has been seen recently in Connecticut is without a doubt the Hudson valley UFO which is described in my book Night Seige The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings (Ballantine Books 1987).

For some reason unknown to this researcher the giant boomerang UFO has shifted it's activities from New York to Nearby Connecticut. The most recent sightings took place on May 26 of this year around interstate 84 one of the most heavily traveled highways in the northeast.

Between 9;30 and 10;15 PM more than 200 people phoned local and state police to report a huge object with bright lights flying low over the highway near the towns of Newtown and Southbury in Connecticut. Those witnesses that called state police in Southbury were told that it was nothing more than a group of Ultra light aircraft from Candlewood airport flying in close formation and hanging colored lanterns from the bottom of the plane. The police also told witnesses that the aircraft were painted black so that all that can be seen is the lights. Many of the witnesses to the phenomenon found it very hard to believe the official explanation.

One witnesses to the UFO was Mrs. Betty Proulx of Middlebury who said that the object hovered over her house without a sound for over two minutes.here was no doubt in her mind that what she was looking at was one solid object. When Mr. Proulx heard about the explanation he could not accept it since he was in the air division of the Navy. "It was one craft and like no aircraft that I have ever seen in my life".

Another witnesses was Mr. Randy Etting a commercial airline pilot with over thirty years of experience. Mr. Etting said that the idea of the ultra light theory "is the prattling of idiots" Mr. Etting observed the lights from his home in Newtown Connecticut at about 9:45 PM. He said that there were at least eight lights of different colors flying very close together and without a sound. As the object passed his home he observed it in a pair of 7 X 35 binoculars. Mr. Etting told me that the UFO was one object and he saw some type of heat waves coming from the object which distorted the area around the lights. Mr. Etting watched the object with neighbors and his son for over ten minutes as it slowly drifted to the north west. All the witnesses agree that the UFO was one solid object and round in appearance.

The Etting party was observing the UFO while it was passing close to I-84. At this time over a dozen cars pulled over to view the UFO as it passed overhead. One witness a Charlie Tuperman described what happened that night.

"It was about 9:30 or so and I was driving East on 84 around the Southbury area when I noticed these lights ahead of me. They were low and it looked like a 747 was going to land on the highway. This thing had about ten lights in kind of a half circle and the lights were yellow, green, blue, white and red. This thing was going very slow and moving from the east to the west. All of a sudden every one on both sides of the road began slamming on their brakes and pulling over to the side. It was a dangerous thing to do since there were several trucks apparently trying the same thing. I pulled over and watched this thing pass directly over the west bound lanes. I saw a dark mass behind the lights and there was no sound. I saw the lights of a state trooper just ahead of me and I figured he was called to see what was going on. Then all of a sudden this thing gets real bright, I mean all the lights just got ten times brighter for about ten seconds or so, then they faded to where they were before and that is about as bright as a planes wing lights. That really scared me. I wanted to get going because I thought there was some type of invasion or something,I just wanted to get home. Besides I was afraid of some trucker plowing into my car. I watched it head west and lost it . I turned on the radio for news, but didn't hear anything about any UFOs on any of the local stations".

Close Encounter in New Milford

At about 10:00 after the series of sightings in the I-84 area. The UFO was seen heading to the west. It was then seen in the New Milford Connecticut area by a Robert Nellis his friend Jeff and Mr. Nellis dog. They were all in Nellis car off a side road off Route 7 in the northern area of New Milford. They were driving home after a long day of boating upstate along the Connecticut river. The dog began to bark and cry and at that point Jeff looked over to the northeast to see a number of bright lights hovering over a stand of pine trees less than a quarter mile away. They stopped the car and at that time their car radio began to sound "funny" with all types of strange sounding static that interfered with the station that they were listening to.

They stopped the car and continued to watch the lights. At this moment the lights began to move slowly towards them. They were amazed at the size of the object, "larger than a football field". The dog continued to bark as the object passed over their car . Neil looked up and saw a very dark structure connecting the lights that extended toward the rear of the object. He said it was teardrop in shape and the lights in the front were in a half circle. The object was so large he said that" it covered the sky and blocked out everything overhead"

The object he said was made of some type of "dark grey material with very little reflect ability". There was no sound and they estimated that the giant UFO was no more than 500 feet above their car. The UFO then passed over their car and then shifted towards the north. They both noticed some type of flashing lights under the object that gave the impression as if something was moving. They watched the UFO slowly move away. The total duration of the sighting was ten minutes, however both men arrived home forty minutes later. This is could be a case of missing time, or the witnesses observed the object longer than they thought.

Neil would call me for several days after my interview with him since he felt "uneasy and upset" about his Close Encounter. My research team and I are still investigating this case and it seems that it may be another of the many missing time cases that are escalating in the area.

Photographic Proof

This UFO was so bright and large that it was only a matter of time before someone would come forward with a photograph. To our surprise we were contacted by a person of high standing in the Southbury area who took a picture of the object as it moved very slowly over I-84 at about 9:30 PM. The photographer wishes to remain anonymous since his position is very sensitive. He his a very highly trained college educated man who fears that the publicity surrounding the photograph could hurt his career. He gave us full rights to the photograph and his sighting account providing we do not use his real name. We will refer to him as David. (This person was actually Randy Etting; B J)

David was on I-84 on Official business when he saw the lights. The lights were in the northwest and heading east. As he watched, the object tilted and all the lights got much brighter. He was pulled off the road at the time and had his camera ready. The UFO was about 45 degrees above the horizon. Due to traffic he had time to take only one picture. His camera was a 35 mm with a 50 mm lens at 1.8, the film type was Kodacolor ASA 400 and the exposure was 1/60th of a second, or 1/125.

He was not sure of the setting, but feels it was 1/60th of a second. The object then moved toward the east without a sound. During an interview with this researcher, David told me that the he was sure there was a solid object behind the lights. He also said that when the object turned it looked like the lights on the sides were pulling out from the main mass, but he realized that this effect was due to the object changing position from his point of view.

What about the Photo:

Several photo-analysis experts are now looking at the photograph. Our initial study showed that the image is without a doubt hanging in the sky above the ground. Also the photograph was looked at by Dr. Willy Smith a scientists and UFO researcher of some repute. Dr. Smith's initial calculations show the object to be anywhere from 650-1600 across! We believe that this photograph is one of the best nighttime UFO pictures taken in the past twenty years. There were quite a few witnesses to the sighting over a twenty-five mile radius, all reporting the same thing. A close examination of the original negative shows that the lights are reflecting off of some type of structure in the central part of the object. Also the lights are in a perfect half circle. There is no doubt that what ever the UFO photograph represents it is one solid object. We hope to get more data on the photograph and the sightings in the weeks to come. I have taken an add in the local papers asking for videos and photographs and sighting accounts from that night.

A Rational Explanation?

What about the theory that the UFO is nothing more than Ultra lights from Candlewood airport. We questioned state police on this theory. An officer stated that they made a mistake about the airport, it wasn't Candlewood but Stormville airport. A flight instructor at Stormville later told us that there is only one Ultra light at Stormville and it only flies in the day since it is illegal for them to fly at night.

The UFO sightings in the Northeast continue. In the days to follow I received several calls from witnesses who saw formations of military helicopters in the sighting area. One witnesses took a picture of this formation. Is the government involved in the mysterious happenings over the Connecticut area? Many of the residents feel that the government is well aware of the UFO and is doing its best to play down the sightings by explaining them away.

I called nearby Bradley international airport to find out if they had any information about the sightings. I was informed by air traffic control that no formations or large aircraft were tracked on radar at that location and time.

I was also told that unless the "aircraft" have transponders (a device placed in aircraft that helps identify them on radar) in them they would not be picked up at that location at an altitude of less than 2,000 feet. I have enough witnesses in different locations at the same time observing the UFO to determine that the approximate altitude was between 1,000 and 1300 feet.

Based on this information my calculations indicate that the span of lights was at least 900 feet! Its apparent size in the sky was quite large, this is evident by the image on the 35 mm frame that takes up almost half the negative.

It is obvious from the photograph and by the witness statements that something more than ultra light aircraft was in the sky over Connecticut that night.

Illinois-Jelly-Bean-shaped Object
08-03-I was driving west down 131st St. toward the of Lamont. I was nearing the crossroads of 131st and Archer Ave.(about a mile from the intersection Up in the western sky about 8 degrees to my right, I would say approx. 2:00 o'clock in the sky, low above tree line the object was quite a distance off had a jelly bean shape to it with the ends somewhat tapered it had a chrome color to it. it did not shine as if on its own rather it looked reflective, like the chrome of a car bumper odd thing about this object is that it did not appear to move I thought perhaps it may be a plane coming towards me seen that in planes were they seem to stand still until they approach but this was different it had no appearance of any conventional aircraft I have seen and then after about a minute as I looking at it on and off while driving, the object suddenly vanished no clouds, blue sky, nothing else in the sky except for this chrome looking jelly bean shape object, just hanging in midair, no trails as in jet gas, nothing , then as if a rip in the blue sky it disappeared at the blink of an eye it was gone. My wife was with me, she made light of it, while I was amazed at what I saw.

At first I thought it was a silver (chrome) blimp the surface was completely smooth, not like a blimp surface that is what was strange to me so I kept watching, wondering, wow what a shiny blimp but its not moving, after several seconds, puff vanished instantly that's it as for position in the sky, let me try again, more exact, let's say the horizon line facing west as I was, is 9:00 o'clock, this object was approx. 10:30 but if facing west and applied the entire clock face, then as I said before, it would appear to be at 2:00 o'clock once it vanished as it did, I could only conclude it was a UFO I thought I was lucky to have seen this This is my second time to have seen something first time was in '67 while looking out a school window I made a report with MUFON 30 some years later some may say 30 years, how could I remember such details such an experience will remain forever. source: www.mufon.com

Kentucky-Multiple Objects Observed
08-01-I and my girlfriend had gone to my mother's house who lives in Oldham county. We live together in Jefferson county together. My mother, needed help with work around the house and we also saw it as a good chance to get some laundry done.

After all of these events had concluded I began carrying bags of laundry out to the car with my girlfriend. Then after having put the items in the car I noticed how clear the sky was. It seemed odd to me. Yet I live in Louisville and it is always polluted with things that blind the night sky from us usually, key word usually. My girlfriend asked me about the constellation peering through the trees directly toward the south.

I told her that it appeared to me that we were looking at Sagittarius. We both commented on its brightness. We both stood facing the southern sky for about 4 to 10 minutes. She began to walk back toward the walkway leading to the front of the house. The street runs north to south upon where it ends abruptly.

At this time I noticed that a star at about seventy degrees ascension to the right of said constellation was in fact moving from its position in the Northern direction. I asked loudly of my girlfriend if she can see what I am seeing. She confirmed that indeed she saw a star fly across the sky. It seemed to exit the atmosphere at about the same ascension on the opposite side of the sky in the Northern direction (North East).

When we both began to focus on the sky more intently we then noticed three more objects in the sane area do the same exact thing. I noticed that the stars began to occasionally blink with unusually long intervals. During the third flying star another object seemed to move over us. Its lights strobed between three locations in the object. It also had a red light that danced about it as well. When it was directly over head its lights seemed to strobe most intensely.

You could clearly see that the object was triangular and much darker than the sky itself. I will say it was blacker than black. It made no sound and seemed to be looking for something. We both watched this happen four more times. We believed they were four objects like this at that moment. Yet it could have been less because not all four were in the sky all at once. I should like to note that planes were also flying in the sky as the do every night. These latter objects were sometimes higher than the planes but more frequently beneath the plane altitudes.

What I had not fully noticed until this point was the hum coming from the woods. I have noticed this hum quite frequently as well. Yet it was coming from a field that has only cattle. Like I said before I have had many experiences with this and have a lot to say to Stanton Friedman if he contacts me.

We walked down the street and determined that the hum was in the field even though at the prior position it seemed indeterminate. I saw that some light with no source seemed to illuminate the field behind the trees. At that moment I did not want to put myself in danger and began to walk home with my girlfriend. I went in my mother's house and said goodbye to her.

This is where I became certain that what we saw was not standard. We got in the car and headed out of the neighborhood. At that point I realized that one of these objects were right above us to our right some hundred feet above the distant trees. It slowly and silently moved and lowered in behind our car. I got out of the car and looked at it. It turned on all three white lights as it passed very close, almost tree level over the street heading North West.

When we got to the neighborhood exit I saw it to our right and it flashed a light down below it that resembled lightening. In other words the light seemed to have a nervous system. And as usual ...this time we had no cameras.

We were followed by a brand new SUV with black tinted windows until we got on the expressway heading east. The vehicle then put on its breaks and pulled over after we were gone. source: www.mufon.com

Nevada-Object with No Running Lights
08-02-While sitting on our deck, I noticed a rather bright light heading towards me coming from the West. Its elevation in the sky was slightly lower than the elevation I usually see Commercial Aircraft flying at. It was brighter than the brightest star in the sky by a magnitude of 2 or 3. At first I thought it was just an aircraft coming head on and the landing lights were on. Then as it came closer I noticed no navigation lights at all... no red or green flashes and no strobes. As the object passed in front of my view, I watched closely for any sign it was a conventional aircraft. There was no contrail, and absolutely no sound.

As it moved away from me, the light was just as bright from the back as it was from the front of the object. I estimate the speed at about 450 to 600 MPH flying at about 15,000 to 20,000 feet. The object was about 2 miles out in front of me and traveling due East coming from the West. It traveled in a perfectly straight line. There were no elevation changes and no lateral changes. I watched the object until it went out of sight about 30 seconds after I first noticed it in the sky. I have over 30 years of being an aviation buff and can recognize many aircraft by their sound and shape alone. This was no aircraft I have ever seen. Since the night was very clear and temperatures at 5,000 feet are around 60 F, there were no clouds or other visual obstructions.

Shortly after seeing this object go out of sight, there were two separate commercial jets that flew over. Both of these jets made the usual rumble and I could see their navigation strobes easily. My wife was with me at the time and saw the object almost as long as I did. Although I have seen strange things in the sky before, and things like satellites reflecting the sun as they pass by, this is the first time I have felt confident enough to actually report a UFO sighting. I hope there are others who reported it. source: www.mufon.com

Nevada-Unknown Bright Light
08-03-I was coming out of a shopping center and looked up into the night sky over Reno about 10:30 at night and saw a bright round light traveling from the south to the north. It was not blinking or flashing as a plane would... and I saw a plane just minutes later as a comparison.

The pace was fast and constant and I heard no sound. Could not tell how high it was but it did go into a small cloud for a few seconds. Then it disappeared into the glare of the city lights. source: www.mufon.com

France-Bright Light near Jupiter
08-04-On the night of the 1st of August while looking at Jupiter with a small telescope, I noticed a bright light appearing from nowhere above the bay. The time it took me to stare at the stationary light, it flashed (very bright) about a couple of seconds after and disappeared. There was no sound. Actually there was no sound at all. I suddenly realized that all night wild life was dead silent and stayed for about a couple of mins after. I realized the silence when it started to make noise again. so i could not say if the silence had started before the flash.

On the night of the 4th. form the exact spot of the flash, suddenly appeared a bright light (brighter than Jupiter ) and it moved very fast and completely silent. Much faster than airline planes. it was very bright, and it had a half a circle shape. moving very fast north east and was quiet high since it passed the mountain range quiet easily. A couple of mints later from the exact same spot appeared a much less brighter point that traveled same direction and same speed. about 5 min later two planes seamed to be following in the same direction. they were much lower in altitude and slower.

I had a chance to look a the bright lights briefly in the telescope. briefly because they moved so fast. The brightest one had a clearly a half circle or filled in horseshoe shape. the second one was much smaller and was a dot. the first one was bright white the second yellowish. source: www.mufon.com

Iceland-Pole of Light
2005-About two years ago I was driving my taxi with passenger to a town called Hafnafjordur. This was about 5:30 in the morning, the weather was kind of strange like it can get here in Iceland. It snows a bit and the sky has thick clouds, but sometimes you can see the dark sky through them. Rather hard to describe these weather conditions we get up here but anyway. As we drove into town I noticed what seemed to be purple light behind the clouds. It was not the sun coming up or anything like that, the sun doesn't come up that early that time of year, and we were facing SW.

Because I have an open mind a thought occurred to me "There are aliens in Hafnafjordur tonight." I didn't say anything but kept on driving to the destination my passenger was going to. When we came to his place, which stands on a high point in town where you can see a lot of the town from, we notice a bright pole of light reaching from the sky and landing on a building, as this pole of bright light reaches the sky it bends. I say to the passenger "What is this pole of light?" and we stare at it.

The car is moving very slowly and when a house comes in between us and the light, when we had passed the house that came in between the light had gone, or faded away. Do you have any info on sightings similar to this one, and what are they? Everything I have heard about light until that day, is that a pole of light is not something that can bend. So I'm very curious. source: www.ufocasebook.com
