'They're out There:' Farmer Remembers Close Encounter
|
Darren Bernhardt, The StarPhoenix
Published: Saturday, September 20, 2008
It was 34 years ago this month when Edwin Fuhr encountered five dome-shaped objects hovering about a half-metre above his canola field.
The passage of time has done nothing to quell the 70-year-old Langenburg man's conviction that we are not alone in the universe. In fact, Fuhr believes his visitors are still keeping watch -- from a distance.
"They're out there, there's no question," he said in an interview.
About five or six years ago, in the northeast part of the sky, four or five lights did something strange.
"They followed you," Fuhr said, saying they looked like stars but "a star doesn't move or change colours."
In 1988, he moved from the farm, about 10 kilometres north of Langenburg, into town. The urban lights tend to wash out the night sky, but every so often in the northeast, the lights show up and follow along, Fuhr said.
"I'm pretty sure they're the same ones (that were in the field in 1974). That's the direction they took off in '74," he said.
Many UFO sightings on the Prairies occur in fall, when farmers are harvesting before the frost hits. That's when reports of crop circles tend to . . . er, crop up.
Going to inspect the landing area the day following his encounter, Fuhr found five rings of depressed canola swirled in a clockwise direction. More circles were found in the area later that month, according to media and police reports from the time.
Over the next while, the site was visited by the RCMP, scientists, UFO researchers from across North America and even the FBI. Sniffer dogs used by the police refused to enter the circles, according to Fuhr.
"Something was there and I doubt it was a hoax. There's no indication anything had been wheeled in or out and Mr. Fuhr seemed genuinely scared," RCMP Const. Ron Morier was quoted in a StarPhoenix story of Sept. 19, 1974.
On Sept. 27, 1974, another newspaper article referred to a Martensville police constable and his wife witnessing a UFO over Saskatoon. It hung above the Nutana neighbourhood briefly before taking off. The officer, Albert Goddue, described it as being dome-shaped.
"No one will ever convince me it was any type of conventional aircraft. It was like nothing I have ever seen in the sky before," Goddue was quoted as saying.
Not everyone remains a believer after a close encounter. On Sept. 19, 1963, an 11-year-old boy and three friends were playing in a Saskatoon schoolyard when they saw a bright oval object hover and drop something. They claim a figure stood up three metres tall, made a moaning sound, held out his hands, and floated towards them.
The 11-year-old told investigators the figure was a man dressed in clothes "like a monk's" which were "white like a crayon."
The accounts are recorded in two books, Passport to Magonia: on UFOs, folklore, and parallel worlds, by Jacques Vallee, and The Complete Guide to Mysterious Beings, by John Keel.
The children ran off and one girl became so hysterical that she had to be hospitalized.
"Sometimes I could see right through him," the 11-year-old said.
Now 56, he refuses to believe it ever happened.
"It was just overzealous kids with good imaginations," he said in an interview Friday, the 45th anniversary of the event. "I don't want to discuss it."
The man said he went through a "tough time" in school after the supposed sighting was made public. Since then, he has moved from Saskatoon and no longer associates with the other three children who were with him that day. He has been married 35 years and neither his wife nor any of his immediate family members know anything of the incident, he said, asking his name be kept out of the newspaper.
"It's in the past and that's where it should stay," he said. "I don't need the headache."
Fuhr was 36 when he saw the saucers around 10 a.m. Initially, he noticed one metallic object in a depression on the land. He walked to within 15 feet of the object.
"I saw the grass was moving and I looked up and saw this thing spinning at one hell of a speed," he said on Thursday.
There was no sound, no smell, no windows to peer into, said Fuhr, whose joints ached as he walked backwards to the swather, keeping his eye on the saucer.
Then he noticed four more off to the side, arranged in a "half-moon" formation. He estimates the two largest ones were 30 feet in diameter with the rest slightly smaller. They hovered about 15 minutes before taking off, one-by-one, with a gust of vapour.
A few weeks after the incident, a scientist from the National Research Council (NRC) in Ottawa suggested the rings were caused by mushrooms. Allen McNamara, head of the NRC's upper atmosphere research section, also theorized the glow from the saucers may have been caused by the fungi.
The crop circles were exactly the same as "fairy rings" produced by underground mushroom filaments, he was quoted as saying. When asked by reporters about the canola pressed in a circular motion, McNamara guessed it was caused by wind.
Fuhr has never been provided an explanation that would convince him he was imagining things.
"Imagination doesn't leave marks in the ground, does it?" he said, noting the landing site was tested as recently as four years ago and is still emitting radioactive waves.
For the first year, nothing would grow where the circles were and "the ground was hard, like cement."
Though he no longer works the land, it remains in the family, farmed by a nephew. Fuhr has never asked him whether he's encountered anything strange.

Extraterrestrial Implications on Earth
|
by Al Kay
The history of the extraterrestrial presence on Earth may be millions of years old. Surely, aliens inhabited Earth eons before mankind evolved to be the dominant species. This fact is supported by archaeological finds of technological devices that defy explanation yet are dated to be millions of years old. Space travelers from advanced civilisations have explored the Universe in crafts that have mastered the time/space dimensions. Considering the strides humans have accomplished in space travel within the past few decades, it seems quite reasonable that ET races that are millions or maybe billions of years old have achieved exponential leaps, technologically speaking, in traversing the vastness of outer space. No doubt, they utilize the electromagnetic, light and nuclear energy inherent in space.
The present ET presence on Earth is quite an enigma. UFOlogists are perplexed about the ET agenda and the physics of their spacecraft I've explored various aspects of this topic for over ten years: types of craft -- terrestrial vs. extraterrestrial; alien abductions and genetic experiments/ hybrid breeding; contactee experience; crop circles; manipulative vs. ethical ETs; Men in Black; and governments position on the ET presence.
I have not had direct contact with aliens. In 1997, in Taos, New Mexico, while outdoors at 10:30pm, I encountered an orb or ball of light. I saw an intense bluish-white globe in the middle of the foothills, about three miles distance. Mesmerized by the basketball-sized orb, it zoomed towards me and hovered 75 feet up within twenty-five yards. I stared in amazement for less than a minute, then it vanished. No drugs or booze involved! I was alone. Over the past decade, in different locales, I've seen at least a dozen unusual stationary/silent lights doing erratic manoeuvres at various distances. I viewed through binoculars an encounter between military jets and an oblong UFO in airspace over Los Alamos Weapons facility in New Mexico. Later I discovered battles between military jets and UFOs are not uncommon. I attribute my sightings to the fact that I'm receptive to knowing about UFOs and ETs.
Entering the realm of UFOlogy is akin to exploring an endless, convoluted maze of twists and turns, and dead-ends. In many ways, alien activity mirrors the gamut of human behaviour, which spans the spectrum from the horrific to the terrific. On the horrific side is non-consensual manipulation of humans --- physically and psychologically. Many abductees experience amnesia, physical ailments, invasive experiments, bodily implants, and are severely traumatized by the abduction experience.
Some victims have died from cancer and leukemia. Manipulative aliens program the human mind to forget being abducted, although some abductees have undergone hypnotic regression to recall otherwise repressed memories of the experience. Dr. Roger Lear has surgically removed alien implants from abductees. Telltale signs of bodily implants are unusual scoop marks or scars that suddenly appear, chronic nosebleed, ringing in the ears, vertigo, hearing internal voices from an outside source, nightmares of visitation, missing time, and/or conscious memory of alien visitation. Aliens can metamorphosize human anatomy causing a body to permeate solid objects, like a wall or door. Bystanders are immobilized and experience time loss with no recall.
Not all abductee experiences are entirely negative. Some people report heightened psychic abilities, rapport with their counterparts after overcoming initial trauma, increased awareness concerning world events, and a sense of responsibility in solving global social problems. Some abductees are told prophetic messages about prospective, catastrophic events. Alien abductions usually run in families with several generations having the experience. Perhaps aliens keep a chronology of their genetic experiments. When asked by abductees why aliens perform genetic experiments, aliens respond it is to ensure the survival of humanity. Aliens seem to be concerned that humanity is on the verge of extinction. With the possibility of nuclear holocaust or ecological collapse, that isn't too far fetched!
Not all ET contacts appear to be selfishly motivated. If you want to avoid abduction, then call upon God, Jesus, a saint, your guardian angels, some other deity, or simply will it and mean it. Negative thinking and behaviour may invite negative energy. Thoughts are powerful, whether they are conscious or unconscious.
Physical contact with ethical ETs is less common than abductions. Apparent Ethical ETs seemingly prefer telepathic communciation through channels, mediums, or psychically sensitive individuals. Sightings of UFOs are becoming more common throughout the world. Since governments may be involved in back engineering crashed ET vehicles, there is no way to know for sure if an unusual craft is terrestrial or extraterrestrial in origin. UFOlogists are divided on this issue. Some claim all UFOs are government black-ops projects, whereas the other side insists all UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin. Self-serving aliens may be assisting governments with advanced spacecraft and technology.
Contact with ethical ETs has been alleged by some people -- Bill Meier and Betty Andreasson, for example. Also, channelled information from alleged ethical ETs conveys spiritual messages about brotherly love, living in harmony with nature, and benign technology that aliens will share with humanity when the time is right. Since the prevailing position on the part of authority is one of hostility and aggression towards ethical ETs, progress towards global peace, prosperity, and ecological harmony is at a standstill. Humanity can substantially benefit from ethical ET contact by learning more about it and being receptive to personal experiences. Even the Pope recently acknowledged that it is not contrary to Christian theology to embrace cosmic consciousness towards benevolent space brothers. It is going to take a revolutionary step forward on the part of humankind to progress towards this lofty yet essential challenge.

Why Space Aliens Picked the Hills
|
By Dan Miller
September 22, 2008
It was an outlandish news story that I became a bit preoccupied with 47 years ago. Then, just days ago, it got my attention again -- but for a whole different reason.
Originally -- way back then -- I was fascinated because I'd never heard of anything like it... and the people involved seemed so credible... a social worker and a postal worker, both around 40.
Of course I was young and impressionable, still in the last vestiges of my teen years, and eager to accept such a story as factuality.
I was far from alone in my acceptance of the story... many others did, and still do. It has never been explained or disproved.
On a peaceful, late September night in 1961, a reputable, trustworthy couple... Barney and Betty Hill... were traveling in their 1957 Chevrolet along a mostly deserted US Route 3 near Indian Head, New Hampshire.
They were returning home from a vacation north of the border in Canada. And there, on that lonely road in the mountains of New England, they insisted something really weird happened. A giant flying saucer hovered over their car, and when they stopped to investigate, they were abducted by space aliens.
To this day, it probably remains the most detailed and credible story of an alien abduction.
It was the subject of several books, including the best seller "The Interrupted Journey" ... and there have been at least two movies made about the abduction of the Hills... one in 1975 titled "The UFO Incident" starring James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons.
I won't go into detail about what supposedly happened.... you can easily find more than you might care to read about it by Googling "Barney and Betty Hill"... but I will tell you what caught my attention the other day as I read an article chronicling the abduction on its 47th anniversary.
As much as I always wanted to believe the Hill's story, I couldn't help but wonder why space aliens would travel light years across the universe, only to select these two rather unremarkable earthlings as guinea pigs for their strange probes and tests.
Well, the answer was right there all the time. It's simple... the Hills were driving a '57 Chevy.
Even aliens from other worlds are enchanted by a really nice '57 Chevy. I'm living proof that a '57 Chevy can spawn unlikely behavior.
I submit for your consideration, this... Thirty-nine years ago when I was preparing to move from South Carolina to Nashville, I was the owner of a '57 Chevy Bel Air. I decided that, rather than drive it to Nashville, I would offer to sell it to a guy named Alan who bought my house in South Carolina.
You know how much I asked for -- and got -- for that '57 Chevrolet? $5.
That's right... $5.
Not $50... not $500... not $5,000... but $5.
I recently saw a nice '57 Chevy on eBay selling for $50,000!
You know what? Those space aliens should come back and probe my head to see if they can figure out what in the world I was thinking.
I wonder if Alan still has that old car... and I wonder if he's ever been visited by space aliens.

'Flying Saucer' and Other UFO Sightings Reported over Wrexham
|
Wednesday, 24th September 2008
REPORTS of sightings of UFOs above the skies of Wrexham have continued to flood in to the Evening Leader.
The Evening Leader has been inundated with claims of sightings of three strange glowing lights following a report in Monday's paper.
One Wrexham resident now claims to have seen a 'flying saucer' in the sky over North East Wales.
The latest report comes from a 14-year-old from Rhostyllen and follows several sightings of 'dazzling' lights' in the sky on a number of different evenings last week.
The 'UFOs' were spotted by a number of people across Wrexham – in Rhos, Johnstown and Borras – and were even caught on camera, the film of which is available to view on the Evening Leader website.
One reader claims he also saw three lights over Trem y Gardden in Penycae. He said: "They were in a straight line but one of them was further back than the other two. We could see them for about 10 minutes or so then they went higher and then disappeared."
The report of a 'flying saucer comes from a 14-year-old from Rhostyllen, who was doing a paper round in the village of Rhostyllen, last Thursday, September 18.
He was prompted to come forward after hearing that he was not the only one to have seen something strange.
He said: "I saw more than orange lights. I was out doing my paper round in Esless Park in Rhostyllen. It was quite cloudy and I turned around to see if there were any stars out but instead I saw two orange lights."
At first the youngster thought that they were two aircraft flying under the clouds but realised that the lights weren't flashing as they would on most aeroplanes.
"They were completely orange and moving too slowly for jets. I stood at the side of the road for a while trying to get a picture on my mobile phone but the lights would not show up on the pictures," he continued.
"I watched until they slowly disappeared through the clouds. It was just after 7.45pm that I looked updirectly above me and the orange light pulled out of the clouds, the light turned white then went off and all I could see was a black disc, a black saucer.
"It made no sound and if I hadn't looked up I may not have known it was there.
The teenager was so excited by what he was looking at he almost ran to the nearest house so that somebody else sould witness it.
"It was just there," he explained. "Not moving, it was so still it was amazing.
"I was watching it then it and then it suddenly flew off so quick it looked like a black line.
"I quckly finished my papers and ran home to tell my brother and no-one else because they may not of belived me. Talking about it still makes me slightly edgy. I will never forget that disc that came out of the clouds."
The Evening Leader has received a number of reports from people claiming to have seen strange objects in the sky last week, not just from Wrexham but as far away as Edinburgh.
But Gareth Hill believes the strange lights were nothing more than lanterns.
He said: " I too saw these lights over Johnstown on a couple of occasions within the last week or so, but did not see anything unusual. They looked to me to fit the descriptions of the floating lanterns perfectly.
"The two I saw simply floated towards the north, flicking as a flame will tend to do, and eventually disappeared from view. There was nothing odd about their motion.
"As for "forming a triangle", a set of three points of light in the sky, all floating in the same direction, provided they are not in a straight line WILL form a triangle!
"The lanterns are all released at the same time, so are subjected to the same wind, and hence will float in the same direction, so of course they will appear to float 'in formation'."

Current State of Disclosure
|
After watching the incredible uninformative ABC special on UFO's last week... I got to wondering, "What are people thinking? For real? How can anyone in their right minds, not make this phenomenon the one and only thing to report and investigate? Each and everyone one of us should be making this a priority for ourselves. It's obviously not going to come from the main stream media.
I'm a nobody in the great scheme of things... and I even go out almost nightly to sky watch and even day watch. Whenever I go outside I look up and 'hope' to see something unusual in that maybe, I can also be part of the great mystery and help in finding a solution to what is happening.
It blows me away when we have highly educated scientists like Shostak, saying things like 'Come on people, if they were here already, we would already know that, because we are listening, Like, as if to say... That 'they' would already be talking to me, if they were here... therefore, they cannot be here.
I can totally see that point of view, makes sense right? It does, 'IF' that was the entire puzzle. BUT IT'S NOT SHOSTAK, it's not the entire puzzle. You're a scientist, your are paid to investigate unknown things and discover possible meanings for 'whatever the issue'. You are a researcher. Please do not think that there can possibly be 'NO' ETs visiting our planet.
This does not make sense coming from a scientist, whose views should be as open minded as possible. Right? Statements like those made by Shostak leave me to conclude three possible reasons to as to why 'they' are not communicating with Seti.
I put these in order, IMHO, of the most likely reasons of WHY there has been no communication/contact with SETI.
1. SETI is in on the whole cover up. If you follow the money here, I bet it will end up somewhere that is connected somehow with the people who would rather 'not' get this information out at this time.
2. SETI is purposely being neglected by 'them'... for whatever reason. We have to remember, that 'if' they are here and 'if' they are doing their best to be 'not detected' There must be a reason. What that reason is, is up for much speculation and debate.
3. There are no such things as ET visitors. That out of the billions of stars and trillions of planets, that are billions and trillions of years old, NO EXTRA TERRESTRIAL beings in all the entire universe, have ever stumbled across our little ol' planet.
Option three has to be thrown into the possible reasons, only because nothing = nothing. If there are no 'current' responses being detected by SETI then there is nothing. Nothing visiting our planet.
Now come on. I am no physicist, I am no mathematician that can instantly calculate odds. But our planet, our bluish planet filled with life, all kinds of life for that matter, 80% water with an abundance of life underwater and above water, all kinds of strange and bizarre species, plus a race of semi-intelligent beings, who can communicated with each other (Yes I'm talking about you and me).
You want to tell me that this lil' ol' planet out of the billions out there, would not be an interesting place to visit? If one had the capabilities to travel here or anywhere in this vast universe, wouldn't 'ANY' intelligent being capable of traveling vast distances, who have figured out all the difficulties of space travel, who is, most likely, much older and much more evolved than us as a species of this universe, wouldn't this planet be of interest to 'ANY' beings (ETs) that could pick up any kind of signal from our planet?
Like was said in the special, we have been broadcasting for over 50 years now, signals that can be detected from the vastness of space, assuming that this would be the 'only' reason to come visit this planet. But, I have to say, that this planet should be of interest to any advanced civilization regardless of signals being broadcast, and regardless of the fact that human beings rule this marble.
This is a beautiful planet with many wonders. I bet in the galactic scale, EARTH is a favorite one to visit. This just makes sense. It's not like every other planet out there is an 'EARTH' like planet. And that's just from our perspective. I just recently read an article somewhere, stating that we 'think' that maybe we have found another earth like planet somewhere far, far away. How crazy is that? These planets have to be a rare thing, and a must stop visit when ETs are on vacation, right?
O. K., IS THAT SUCH A FAR FETCHED IDEA? Look how much we have advanced, technologically, in the past 60 years. We are just talking about 60 years. Earth is what, 4.5 billion years old? Mankind, as we know it, has been around for what, 200k years? We know just from our current date, that we have been keeping track of this date for over 2000 years. In 60 years we have traveled to the moon, launched many probes to other planets, developed a way to communicate to each other over vast distances with a simple keystroke, I can go on and on with our advancements in just the past 60 years. Just a handful of years ago, you would not be able to read this, unless I was writing for a major worldwide newspaper or magazine. (Thanks Internet!)
Come on people. Wake up please. Open your eyes and mind, 'They' are here. 'They' have chosen to allow us to develop ourselves into a state of mind so that we can mentally accept 'them'. I say it like that, because, we are such fragile beings, both physically and mentally. A lot of us would not survive the knowledge that we are not alone in this universe as a fact. I know you know someone who would not survive this knowledge.
Let's put ourselves in 'their' shoes for just one second. Let's say, that you're the ETs, or at least one out of many races of ETs, and let's say that you have tried to make your presence known in the past with detrimental results. (I can list many examples here, but I don't want to necessarily make previous UFO encounters a priority with this train of thought). We can all agree and say that HUMAN BEINGS from an 'outer worldly' perspective, have to appear hostile. I mean, not only do we kill our own species with wars, crime, pollution, over population, etc., but we are also hostile towards lower species right here on our planet!
Not to mention the ETs themselves. Look at our movies... We always figure that the ETs are here to hurt us. I can only think of a handful of movies out there, where the ETs are here to help us, or are here just because they are curious.
If you knew that if you made yourself known to a planet's civilization that scares you to the extent of hysteria, and even simple minded people perhaps suicidal, would you sacrifice those peoples? Would you even dare risk the fact that because of your existence even 'ONE' human being would die?' Think about that for a minute. What would you do?
Would you try to keep this knowledge as quiet as possible, until, perhaps maybe, this race of beings would be able to handle it. Maybe slowly make yourself known, maybe, even allow yourself to be known to a handful of people, hopefully able and willing to get the real word out? Minimizing the possible casualties? Logically this makes sense, does it not?
I know that you know someone that would probably die of a heart attack if all of a sudden ‘they’ would land on the White House lawn and say, "Hi, we're here, we have been here forever, and your belief system is all wrong." Think about the consequences: politically, religiously, and financially... It would be a huge, dramatic time... and I'm not saying 'die' in a dramatic way. I mean in a literal way. There are some people that would think this is the apocalypse... the end of the world, and that it's the devil's doing, I mean I can go on, and on in all the speculation this would arise. We are 'obviously' not ready yet.
Thanks ETs for keeping this a secret for now, some of us understand this, albeit not that many, if you figure in the entire earthly population that is ready to accept this knowledge, and won't keel over as soon as your presence is made known to everyone. And that we know that we need to be patient and continue to live this life and function in this society, because we have no real other choice. One day, we will be liberated from all this, I hope that we are able to do this on our own, before we end up killing ourselves. All I can say is, " Please do not let us completely eliminate ourselves." Like children, we sometimes have to get hurt and make the wrong decisions to learn the right way. I know this to be true, as I'm 37, and still sometimes need to learn things the hard way. Thanks mom and dad!
I agree with your plan, 'if' this is a plan, to slowly get the word out to the populous, with TV shows like ABC Special 'Seeing is Believing', UFO hunters, UFO files, and even this great web site UFO Casebook, allowing yourselves to be captured on tape and photos etc. This is a great plan. Some of us understand this and some of us want to help, including myself.
If this means writing articles like this, than so be it. If it means snapping pictures of you guys flying around, so be it. If it means shooting videos of you guys, then so be it. Seeing is believing in most cases, so get out your cameras and camcorders people, start filming, start/keep posting them on UFO Casebook and Youtube, whatever, keep circulating it, keep recording it. It will be our own history some day in the future and we will be the ones that helped get the 'knowledge' to everyone, we will be the ones documenting it.
I want to make a special mention of the Billy Meier Case, as it's most popularly known. Please people, research this information, as this information must get out to everyone. Believers and non-believers, there is simply too much information for all this to be a hoax. Look into it, research it. There is a lot of information coming out of this case, more than meets the eye. I say all these things because I feel I must do my little part in this fantastic journey we are on. WAKE UP! It's our only hope.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

WING COMMANDER ALAN TURNER MBE
RAF SOPLEY UFO – 1971
At the UFO DATA conference in October 2007 I met up with veteran UFO investigator David Beezer. I´ve known David for many years and he has regularly attended many of our public events. David wanted me to read a report he had received from a for RAF officer but on the day I simply did not have the time. David made me a copy of the report in question and I read it a day or two after the conference had finished.
The report came from a Mr. Alan Turner MBE and concerned a UFO observed on radar at RAF Sopley in the summer of l971. I subsequently contact Mr. Turner and have his permission to document the following. His report is published in full.
Alan Turner was aged twenty-five when he joined the Royal Air Force in l966 and was commissioned that year as an Air Traffic Control Officer. RAF Sopley was a wartime bunker, which had been converted into a joint military/civilian Air Traffic Control Radar Unit (ATCRU): it closed in l974 when both the civil and military ATC functions were transferred to West Drayton.
Alan Turner remained in the RAF eventually to command the Central ATC School from 1990 to 1992. In July 1995 he was discharged from the RAF in the rank of Wing Commander.
This is Wing Commanders Turner´s account of what he personally observed at RAF Sopley in the summer of l971 in full:
In the summer of 1971 I was the Duty Military Supervisor at RAF Sopley, which was a joint military/civil Air Traffic Control Radar Unit (ATCRU). It was a Tuesday afternoon but I cannot remember the exact date. The Duty Civil Supervisor drew my attention to a situation on radar the likes of which neither of us had ever encountered.
Emanating from a point some twenty nautical miles east of the eastern extremity of the Salisbury Plain Danger Area were a series of six or seven blips moving on a south-easterly track each being separated from the other by about six miles. At about forty miles from the point they appeared on radar they disappeared to be followed almost immediately by a replacement at the point of origin.
I put the FPS 6 Height Finder onto some returns to discover that they were about 3000 feet when they came into radar cover and climbing extremely rapidly so that, by the time they disappeared from radar, they were in excess of 60,000 feet. To climb to such a height in only forty miles was beyond the ability of any fighter aircraft at the time.
The phenomenon was witnessed by four civil and six military controllers on duty at the time. I called Heathrow Radar to discover that they, also, wee seeing a similar picture. The same situation prevailed in the Fighter Control Operations Rooms at RAF Neatishead. The three units involved operated different radars from each other thus different frequencies were in use. The weather forecast from the south of England was calm and sunny. I called the Met Office to confirm the strength of the upper winds to find that they were also relatively calm and were about fifty degrees off the southeasterly track of the blips; they also confirmed that there were not Met balloons/probes airborne at the time.
The winds were not strong enough, nor in the right direction, to cause the blips to travel on their observed track especially at the speed they were travelling. It was estimated that they were doing around 250 knots, but it must be borne in mind that this was a lateral speed as seen on radar – they must have been travelling very much faster to climb over 50,000 feet in less than forty miles. Equally the weather was such that there were no ´angels´ to affect the radar picture. "Angels" was a euphemism for, what were believed to be, ionozed pockets of air which, under very specific atmospheric conditions, were often seen on radar screens in those days: when seen, these ´angels´ traveled extremely slowly simply drifting along haphazard tracks. In those days all radars were ´raw´. That is to say that, whatever was within the coverage of the radar envelope and capable of bouncing (returning) the radar pulse back to the receiver, would be seen on the radar tube. Today´s radars are computerised thus such interference is processed out so as not to affect the picture.
Looking around for some other method of checking what was going on, I discovered that a controller had two Canberras on frequency returning from Germany. One of the pilots agreed to investigate so I assumed control of his aircraft and, having confirmed he was in good visual met conditions, I vectored him on to the blips keeping him regularly updated on their position relative to the Canberra. The aircraft was flying at around nineteen thousand feel and when it got within a mile or so of one particular blip, the pilot reported, in a very agitated voice, that his radar had picked something up heading down his port side by about a quarter of a mile and ´climbing like the clappers´, it was on a reciprocal heading to the Canberra. The pilot admitted that neither he nor his navigator made any visual contact and confirmed that the weather conditions were such that they would have had no difficultly seeing something that close.
The whole episode lasted for twenty minutes or more before the blips stopped appearing. I impounded the R/T tapes and the Radar Video film and made appropriate entries in the log. Each person in the Ops Room who witnessed the incident was required to write a report. The Squadron Leader in charge of Operations collated the reports and informed higher authority. Within a couple of days I was interviewed in the Squadron Leader´s office by two men who were not identified to me. I, along with all the others in the Ops Room on the day in question, were told in no uncertain terms not to relate what we had seen until cleared to do so. About four years later I was serving at RAF Wattisham when the Station Commander asked to see me. I was told that he had a communication from the MoD about the incident at Sopley and that as ´nothing could be confirmed´ the situation was such that doubt would be cast on anything I said about it. I took this to mean that I was no longer to remain silent.
I am at a loss to explain what I, and many other people, saw. In those days aircraft could not climb at such a rate. To be seen on displays by three different ground radars, plus the airborne radar in the Canberra, is also a mystery. The weather conditions were very definitely VMC or Visual Met Conditions; the aircraft was clear of cloud by at least a thousand feet vertically and with a forward visibility of at least five nautical miles.

In Mr. Turner´s letter to be dated 10th November 2007 he apologised for not remembering the exact date of the incident and believes that there are those out there that will use this to discredit his account. I´ll leave you with his final comments on the incident; "Please use the information in any way you see fit; I stand by what I saw because I know what I saw."
Colleagues and I intend to submit a Freedom of Information request to the UK Ministry of Defence, and should we obtain any further information we will of course publish it due course.
Thanks must go to David Beezer for supplying the information and contact details and special thanks to Alan Turner MBE for allowing me to publish his account.

Colorado-Fireball Object
|
09-24-08-My daughter, boyfriend our neighbor and I were standing on our porch at our home, when my daughter pointed out something in the sky. It looked like a very large fireball. It was extremely bright, and was moving rather fast, but not as fast as an airplane. Initially we thought it was a comet or meteor because of the fire-like appearance, however, it had no tail, and after about 30 seconds the flame faded out and we could clearly see a dark, circular object slowing down.
It continued southwesterly through the sky. It then began to quickly descend. We were sure that it was going to crash at the speed it was traveling, and we waited to see some kind of smoke in the sky as a result of the crash, but nothing happened. If it did in fact land, it would have landed somewhere southwest of Denver.
We've seen planes, weather balloons, blimps, and helicopters... but nothing like this. Every one of us was in shock because we just couldn't pinpoint what might look or move like this object. source: www.mufon.com

Michigan-Orange Ball of Flame
|
|
09-20-08-Canton-I would like to know who saw the bright, orange ball of flame
last night at approximately 10:30 PM. I don't know what it was, it looked like a flame
from a hot air balloon, but it was going too fast, and no one would likely be flying
a balloon at 10:30 PM. source: www.ufocasebook.com

Minnesota-Two Sightings Reported
|
September, 2008-20th & 24th-both sightings about 9:00 PM-city of Owatonna-Two witnesses, husband and wife.
My husband and I were outside smoking on both occasions. The first incident happened on a Saturday about 9-9:15 PM.
My husband noticed a star that looked like it was moving. We both watched it and it started moving towards our direction and it wasn't moving very fast. Just enough to notice that it was moving though. At first we thought that it was a plane of some sort, but as it got closer it started getting brighter (like it had a spot light coming from it). As it got almost directly above our heads, the light instantly went dim and within a few seconds just disappeared.
Now, tonight we were outside again and I noticed that another star-like object was moving again. The first one started off in the southwest and moved more north, and the one tonight was moving from west to east (at least from the direction that we were at). Again the same thing happened. We noticed that once it got almost above us it just disappeared. They never seemed to go past the roof on our home.
No flashing lights, and this one didn't really radiate the bright glow that the first one had, but was definately bright. If you could possibly give some sort of insight into this we would appreciate it. It's kind of freaking me out a bit. I'm going to try and make a point to go outside again tomorrow night around the same time in hopes to see if it's starting to become reccuring. KA & JA-source: www.ufocasebook.com

Great Britain-Orange Object Seen
|
09-25-08-At 21:55 on Thursday, I was driving west bound on the A268 in East Sussex (UK), upon entering the village of Peasmarsh my attention was quickly drawn to an object in the sky. The object was bright orange (this is what initially distracted my attention from driving) and traveled from North to South. I stopped my car and jumped out to get a better view.
The apparent speed of the object was comparable to a Hawk jet travelling at 5000 feet and 400 knots; however, as the object’s altitude and size are unknown, I cannot estimate actual speed. The object was in sight for some 40 seconds and was trailing. At no time was there any sound or deviation in the flight path or luminance of the object. Being a pilot with an interest in aviation, I’m sure this was not a conventional aircraft. I have no idea what the object was, but would be interested to know if anyone else had witnessed it. Texas-Two Objects Seen
|
09-25-08-Wednesday night, sitting on my staircase outside using the phone, I witnessed what initially looked to be 2 stars moving south in tandem over the course of 10-20 seconds. They were at a 75 degree angle from where I was, moving directly away from me. At first when I looked up, I thought that they were stationary, and I had a split second to think that "those stars are really close together."
The lead 'star' was profoundly brighter than the back 'star,' which remained at a constant dim or dull brightness. Over the next several
seconds, the lead light dimmed to the same illumination of the light following. They continued moving south, and eventually were not visible
anymore. I have lived next to DFW airport for the last 5 years, and what I saw was not a plane. I'm estimating that these "tandem lights" were 20-40 feet in the air, which would make the distance between each light tremendous in size. source: www.mufon.com
