Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil Photograph Comes under Scrutiny
|
Shiny Metal "UFO" Photo Analysis
October 7th, 2007 by Mori
On December 7, 2006, we received an email with a very interesting photograph attached. The image was captured in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. According to the message, the photographer was Roberto Di Sena, Masonic Master, between 9:30 and 10 AM, November 25, 2006, on the Alagamar near the back of the ABC Soccer Club Stadium. (…)
According to the EXIF information attached to the image, it was taken on July 5, 2006, at 17:51:24 (the time stamp were probably not correctly set up), the exposure time was 0,0017 seconds (automatic mode), the flash was not fired, the focus was on infinite (we can verify that the houses and clouds are in focus), the aperture opening was small (FNumber - 6.70) and the camera used was a PENTAX Optio 60.
At first sight, it seems the image is not a crude montage since the shadows in the object are coherent with those of the background. We point below the shadows in the object and in the background.
Another important verification is done on the pixels. … If we compare the pixels of the object with another part of the image, we notice they are indeed similar, further suggesting that it isn’t a montage.
CUT AND PASTE?
This image provoked much debate on Brazilian ufology discussion groups, as many researchers claimed to have found a square frame around the object, which would be evidence of a hoax. This square however couldn’t be seen on the image we received from the author. We then found that the image with a square frame around the object was a low resolution version shared on a photo album on the “Orkut” website.
As the original image, in high resolution, didn’t show any square around the object, we dismissed this possibility and understood that it was simply the result of resaving the image to a low quality version.
Another element that was subject of discussion was a white halo on the bottom of the object, that could be evidence that the image was cut and pasted. But if we enlarge any other image in the background, we will notice that this white hale also shows up. It was quickly realized that these “anomalies” are produced by [the camera processing] and the sharp contrast of the object and the background sky.
But even with these arguments, there were still some debate about this feature. It was claimed that the white halo only appeared below the object, and there were also dark contrasting areas on the upper part of the object without them, pointing to a hoax.
To solve this question, we made an experience with a model. The model is a small circular, metallic disc.
The model:
The model attached with a string to a broom:
The broom was fixed to the last step of a ladder:
We then placed the ladder next to a wall:
The model was photographed against a blue sky, as with Roberto Di Sena’s image. We can see that the white halo is visible only below the disc. There are also many dark parts above the disc. This effect is the result [of the camera processing unit, with an unsharp mask automatically applied]:
ANALYSIS OF THE OBJECT
The object is very well focused, as we can see its shape and borders:
Digital cameras can correctly focus objects starting from a 5 m distance when set to infinite. The small aperture (6.70) suggests the place was very wll lit, and this aperture further enhances the depth of field (around 3 to 5 m at most). In these conditions, the focus could have been obtained for objects as close as 1 to 2 m (5m - 4m).
The object is also more defined than the background houses, which suggests it is actually close to the camera and a small object! If the object was large and far away, it would have a sharpness similar to the background objects. …
The photographer guarantees that it was something flying over his house and that the photo was spontaneous. The paradox here is that the object is very well centered and extremely well focused. (…)
Searching for indications of a possible photo trickery, many resources of image analysis were used. The first technique applied was the Gaussian processing, aimed in removing the “super-exposure” of light as well as treating the maximum and minimum contrasts of an image:
Preliminary conclusion: the absence of other photographs that could allow further analysis means that we can only focus on the features on this single image. We therefore conclude that it’s something relatively small, flying in front or simply thrown in the air, in close proximity to the photographer.

UFO Scared Me So Much I Almost Went into Labour
|
EDITORIAL - whtimes@archant.co.uk
03 October 2007-MYSTERIOUS bright yellow lights were seen plummeting towards a couple's house at "an abnormal speed", writes Simon Wesson.
The Bernasconis, who live in Homestead Road, Hatfield, were "scared to death" when they saw two gleaming lights which they believed were "about to crash just behind their house".
Rachel, 33, told the WHT that she had "never been so scared in her life".
"I'm 39 weeks pregnant and I thought I was going to go into labour, I was that scared.
She added: "My husband, Mark, saw two lights hovering above the houses opposite.
"At first he presumed it was an aircraft, because it looked like two wing tip lights; but after a while it was still there, so he opened the window to check it wasn't a reflection and it was at this point that he shouted for me to come over.
"I jumped out of bed and watched it hover from the open window, then suddenly the lights started to get closer and closer, within seconds we ran down the stairs and out of the door; at this point we were running for our lives!
"We got outside and it just disappeared, no noise or sight of the object, it was a complete mystery."
Rachel said that she had never believed in UFOs but this had really made her "wonder what is out there".
"The lights were too far apart to be a helicopter and they were too low and going too fast to be an airplane," she said.
"If it was a plane, we would have heard some kind of engine noise, but there was absolutely nothing.
"I just cannot explain it. I'm a bit of sceptic about these things, but those lights were irregularly bright!"

UFO Videotaped during Volcanic Eruption in Costa Rica
|
Here we go with another excellent video, or so it appears. Today, we never know for sure, but until we find out more about this, I will withhold any comments to the negative. It may well be legitimate, in any case, it is very interesting.
Volcanic Eruption in Costa Rica. UFO, Ball Lightning? Alien or Government Technology or Natural Phenomena? Weird sightings are pretty common in Central America... I have seen more than a few strange things, but this is the only one I have captured on camera.
Can you explain it?

Encounter with Huge UFO in Canada
|
First of all, let it be known that I am not a UFO "believer" per se.
Although this occurred approximately 27 years ago, I thought it's time to
report to various UFO investigation organizations. I hope this is worthy.
Around the winter of 1980, January perhaps, I just got off work at 9:30
P.M. from the auto dealership. I was a car salesman at the time. I started
driving towards the city of Toronto, Canada, on the QEW (Queen Elizabeth
Way) eastbound to meet some friends at a bar on the Esplanad (a street lined
with nightclubs). I didn't have anything to drink and didn't smoke any pot
on that day/evening.
As I was driving, I noticed a string of lights slowly rotating counter
clockwise over the city of Toronto, at about the ten o'clock position from
my point of view. This caught my eye because these formation of lights were
very unusual. The lights were evidently in a circular pattern with about two
thirds visible as the other third rotated out of view. Imagine a pie plate
with about 25 lights around the circumference of it. As this "pie plate"
would revolve, a third of these lights would be hidden from view as if they
were obstructed by a solid body. It was at night so all I could see was
these rotating string of lights but they were definitely on a "fixed"
platform as the lights were revolving in unison.
Although I've heard of UFO and was curious, at that time in my life, I
didn't really give that much thought about them. I've always been interested
in nature and especially about the universe. I've seen all kinds of aircraft
and advertising blimps at night before. I drove taxi's off and on for
fifteen years on the night shift and have seen countless meteors,
lightening, satellites etc. On two occasions I've even seen extremely
bright, slow falling, green fireball meteors lighting up the ground, for a
couple of seconds, as if it was daylight . I've read, in later years, were
other witnesses reported green fireballs as UFOs. I chuckled to myself
thinking how easily "UFO believers" can be fooled by natural phenomenon.
Anyway, these circle of lights were slowly descending and approaching
towards me (westbound), while I was driving about 115 kilometers per hour on
the highway eastbound. These lights were getting closer and closer as "we"
approached each other. I recall thinking to myself that this must be some
kind of advertising balloon and those lights were letters. As I kept
driving, I was paying more and more attention to this object because the
closer it was getting, the more unusual it looked. I kept glancing at it,
while driving, waiting until it was close enough to read what these letters
were saying, still thinking it was some kind of advertising blimp.
The closer it got, the more I looked at it. Now at my nine o'clock position, the
string of rotating lights started to bank left like an airplane would
"turning right" At this point, I realized that these lights were not letters
at all. They were different shaped, yellowish white lights. The reason these
lights were different in shape was because they were "ingrained" into some
body. When the lights were seen head on, they were circular. But as they
rotated out of "direct" view, they changed shape like the different
crescents of the moon. That's why they appeared to be all different shapes.
Anyway, during the time when this object started to bank left, from my point
of view, I was struggling with myself trying to understand whether this was
a plane or a balloon. It was flying too slow for a plane, yet, too fast for
a blimp. Also, it didn't appear to be flying or floating. The best way I can
describe it's motion is that it looked like it was "sailing" in the sky.
What's interesting here is that the human brain tries to associate what the
eyes are seeing, to something already seen or experienced before. That's why
I was at war with myself trying to decide whether this object was a plane,
blimp or a balloon. Every time I resigned myself to what I must be
witnessing, I jumped to another conclusion. This jumping from one conclusion
to another occurred during the whole experience. I was imagining all kinds
of things. For example, if it was a plane, the only way these lights could
have been positioned was in a circle because this plane must have had some
kind of supporting structure in a circle from wing tip to wing tip. This
didn't make any sense at all. I've seen advertising planes before. This was
nothing like this. Not even close. Than I was trying to imagine a "Goodyear
blimp" with these letters going across it's side. This was nothing like it
either. So here I was, trying to drive and watch this object at the same
time. As I was driving, I started to slow down because I kept looking at
this circle of lights more than the road ahead of me. In retrospect, I don't
even know how I kept my car on the road because I was so awed by this
display in the sky.
Here is the killer.
As the object kept banking and banking more and more, it eventually ended up
totally perpendicular to the ground! The first thing that came to mind was a
big ferris wheel rotating in the sky. At this point I slowed down to about
50 KPH (30 miles an hour in a 60 MPH highway for my American friends) and
put my four way, flashing hazard lights on my car fearing that another car
would smash into the back of me for going so slow on a 100 KPH highway.
Here is the shocker.
As I was mesmerized by this UFO, a surge of adrenaline hit me like a ton of
bricks. I didn't realize how BIG this thing was. At first I thought it was
the size of an airplane fairly close. IT WAS GIGANTIC! At least twice the
size of a football field, bigger than an aircraft carrier!!! I don't know
what gave away it's size. Maybe the reflections of light on the ground. The
best way I can relate this sudden realization is like one of those illusions
most of us have seen. You know, when you look at a pixel drawing with an
image you can't see until you stare at it for a while? After a period of
time, you make out the face of a women or something like that? That's kind
of the transformation I experienced. At first I thought the object was the
size of a large plane than suddenly I REALLY saw it. IT WAS HUGE!!! I yelled
out loud to my self, "HOLEY F**K, IT'S HUGE!!!". I DON'T F***ING BELIEVE IT,
IT'S F***ING HUGE!!!. I thought it was fairly close at first, than bang!, it
was much farther away and larger than my brain first comprehended it.
Speaking about this surge of adrenaline. Have you ever had a really close
call having a car accident? When your heart rate skyrockets to about 180
beats per minute? That's what I felt when I realized how GARGANTUAN this
object was! I could literally feel my heart pounding like crazy. To be
frank, It literally scared the hell out of me, when I realized how big it
was. At this point, I rolled down my window and pointed to this giant
"ferris wheel" in the sky to the other motorists, but it appeared no one
seemed to notice as they screamed by me at regular highway speeds. I
remember how cold it was when I rolled down my window. It was something like
minus 30 Celsius below zero.
After, I don't know how long, probably only a few seconds of rotating in
this perpendicular position, this thing started to climb and right itself
and "sail" back to the direction it originally came from. I rolled up my
window, turned off my hazard lights, and started to speed up to chase it.
Still it seemed other motorists didn't notice this object. It still irks me
to this day. As I was approaching the city limits, this object was in it's
flat position again climbing over the city. Then, all of a sudden, the
rotating lights turned off except for a red "aircraft like" blinking light
(which I never noticed before). After a few seconds, the rotating lights
turned on again. It was like in the movie "Close Encounters Of The Third
Kind". The lights just blasted on. Than after a few seconds they turned off
again as it seemed to be right over the city. Strange behavior. Now I was
exiting off of the highway on to Spadina Rd. I lost track of these lights
because of the tall buildings. When I was on the street where I was going, I
saw a cop parked on the other side of the road writing a parking ticked. I
stopped in the middle of the road and ran over to him. He was quite taken
aback by my seemingly aggressive approach. I asked him, "how long have you
been here?" I forgot what he said, but I asked, "did you see that big circle
of lights flying in the sky? He said "no". After parking my car, I met my
friends at the bar, "Baily's", and told them what happened but they didn't
take me seriously as they've already had a few and were more interested in
the ladies.
After "sitting at the bar by myself" for a couple of hours I went home. I
was living at my parent's house at the time, temporarily, so when I got home
around 1 A.M., I called the police. I didn't know who else to phone at the
time. They didn't take me seriously of course so after that, I phoned the
Toronto International Airport and managed to get through to Air Traffic
Control and asked them if they had anyone call in with a UFO report.
Nothing. So I called the police again and convinced them to take me
seriously as I wanted to make a report. They told me they can send a couple
of officers to my house. As it was late and my parents were asleep, I told
them I'd rather come to the station the next day to report. Next morning,
when I contemplated going in I decided not to, fearing they would think I'm
some kind of wacko.
As the days went by, scanning the newspapers looking for a "UFO sighting" to
no avail, I started doubting myself. I was trying to convince myself that
perhaps I was somehow mistaken. Maybe it was something not out of the
ordinary at all. Maybe it was a balloon or airplane of some kind. Maybe like
thousands of others, I witnessed something that I misinterpreted for
something else.
And now the conclusion.
About a week or so later, on or about the tenth page of the Toronto Star,
bottom right hand corner, there it was! A short article. "Dozens of
Mississauga residents reported a UFO as big as a football field!!!" I don't
recall the whole article. I'll never doubt myself again no matter how much
ridicule I'll be subjected to. After about 27 years, I just had to let this out.

UFO Videotaped over Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
|
I had just awoken to get a glass of water when I saw this brilliant light outside just east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My UFO experience last Sunday morning is on free video at: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/851350/ufo_spectacular_over_edmonton/
Please feel free to share on your website as well as in newsletters, magazines and radio. It was spectacular! (The incredible thing is that just a few hours before I had been reading Stanton Coblentz's book THE LAST OF THE GREAT RACE about a large purple orb discovered in the Arizona desert and now, hours later, is largely a purple orb I have on film! A coincidence?

UFOs & Water Case, Palmas, Tocantis, Brazil, 03-22-2001
|
Vinicius Da Silva and Marta Rosenthal were returning home from a day of fishing in the River Tocantis when they felt a bump in one of the tires. Thinking he had a flat, Vinicius stopped the vehicle and went to check.
He could not find anything wrong with the tire but suddenly heard Marta screaming and saw her pointing to the right side of the road. There, only a few meters away, hovering over the water was a metallic object with small windows along its edge. Standing outside the object on a ledge was a humanoid figure of about 1.30 meters in height. The figure was holding something resembling a hose and was apparently sucking water from the river and into the craft. After about two minutes the humanoid pulled up the hose from the river and re-entered the object. The craft then became very bright and shot away horizontally into the sky.

California-Orange Light Standing Still
|
09-24-Standing outside on my balcony smoking a cig, I usually count all of the airplanes that are in the air every time I am out there. Today, I looked west from my apartment which is nestled in the hills so I have a good view all the way to the hills in the peninsula. Today I noticed a bright orange/red light that was sitting still. Airplanes always move, they do not sit in one place for a long time, this one did not move at all. So I paid it little attention, and then looked back at it after counting all of the other airplanes. It still had not moved. Now I am paying more attention to it, I see that another orange/red light has appeared near it. They sat in the sky for about 5 minutes before one of the lights moved south while the main one sat still in the same position. Right now as I checked outside the largest of the lights has disappeared. As it is twilight, most of the airplanes in the area get a orange red glow when they turn. But it does not take an airplane 10-15 minutes to turn. source: www.mufon.com

Illinois-Bright, High Altitude UFO

09-27-I was taking the dog out for a potty break in my back yard at 8:20 PM on Sep 27 ,2007 and was looking at the stars as I usually do . I noticed a star like object that got suddenly
bright at a very high altitude.I looked over at other stars that I know to see if there where any clouds that would account for this but that was not the case. The object then dimmed
this took about twenty seconds,I thought That I was seeing a supernova until it stated to move in three clockwise circles stopped for about two - three seconds and sped off to the south
south west at a very high rate of speed. I stood out there for five or six minutes smoked a cigarette and then came in to file this report. I watch the stars quiet often ,I have three telescope
and use them a lot. I have never seen anything like this before? source: www.mufon.com

New York-Color Changing Object
|
09-25-I was lying on the beach with my girlfriend looking at the starry sky above the Long Island Sound. I saw a bright object moving very slowly, assumed it was a satellite, and debated
even mentioning it. I finally decided to point it out, and as soon as I did we both saw it start to move very unnaturally. It changed direction and changed colors. It looked as if it were
swimming rather than flying. It was jellyfish-like in the way it was almost always moving very slowly then would shoot in one direction quickly and kind of drift in that direction. At
one point I observed a commercial airplane fly near it and underneath it, and at that point the object became still and gave out a white starlight. I watched it for about 45 minutes on the
beach. I finally went home and stood in my front yard and immediately found it. I called my mom and brother outside who both looked with toy binoculars and observed it was in fact
moving. They observed the colors as well, but I let them know that it was not making any bursts of speed like I saw over the sound. It appeared more west at this point, no longer over
the sound but over the island. I videotaped some of it, although I couldn't zoom in enough. The object does in fact move on tape, but the video does it no justice. If ANYONE in the Long
Island - Connecticut area witnessed this, I'd like them to contact me immediately. source: www.mufon.com

New York-Silver Objects
|
09-23-around 6 PM after having dinner outside with my family (also witnesses to event)....I was staring at a plane as it went across the sky, I noticed some silver "dots" that were flying
away from the plane.. soon after I noticed about 6 others, and pointed them out to my family...
We tried going through what they possibly could be, but being as they seemed to me to be behind/above the plane i was watching (which was itself very high above us) ruled out
balloons, and then parachutes due to their shape... it was suggested they were planes as well (being we live close to LGA airport), but they were perfect spheres, non-jet or plane
shaped.....after a few seconds my sister-in-law pointed out even more, and in square patterns of 4, and every few seconds one would move towards another one and move back into
pattern.
They were slowly moving in a S/SE direction towards Long Island/Queens, weren't in much of a hurry, but you could easily lose track of them if you looked away long enough, they
seemed to blend into the clouds if you weren't focused on them.
after about 9-10 minutes we had all lost track of them behind my neighbors trees and houses. after a few suggestions to check online later that evening for any other 'sky watchers' in the
area, we the went back to continuing our previous conversation like nothing out of the ordinary had happened. source: www.mufon.com

Texas-Object Makes Erratic Movements
|
09-25-It was September 25, 2007 at 730 PM. I had just gotten a cup of lemonade that my mom had just made because she had finished making dinner. I step outside and sat down outside to get
a some air. Then i saw this airplane flying towards San Antonio. I just looked at it as it flew over my house. But then my eyes caught something really bright high in the sky. It was moving
very slow into town. I thought it was a star at first but then it stopped. Then it made a move like a shape of a 7. and it stopped again. So i went in my house told my family "LOOK
THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE SKY!" and my mom ran outside to look at it. My little cousin Nacho and my big brother came out along too. They saw it.I told them what it did. My mom
believed me my big brother didn't believe me they both went back inside. my little cousin stayed outside with me for a while. then we saw it become brighter then it disappeared into
nothing my little cousin was shocked after he saw that happen. i tried to call Carmen. i was looking for a Computer to log in and report this last night. but i couldn't. well that all that

Canada-Bright UFO
|
09-25-07-I just had to share this incident that happened this morning.
At around 6 am, I was awakened by what I thought were raccoons trying to get into the garbage cans.
While looking out the window, there was a very bright light moving very, very slowly towards my house. It was as bright as landing lights on an airplane-traveling West to East.
I got my camera and snapped a quick shot of this object. The object did a little swing from side to side, and I lost sight of it.
I grabbed my pants and ran outside. I was only seconds going out I was sure I was going to see it above the house, but there was nothing. It completely disappeared. I scanned the ski, but it was gone. There was no noise from this.
So I thought it might be the space station, so I checked the net to find out where it was at this time. It was nowhere near North America. It was nearing Russia at the time.
I live on the west Hamilton mountain in Canada, bordered by James St. and Upper Paradise Sts,.
The picture didn't come out as I had flashback. I should know better than to take it through a window.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has seen this object. Michael Keast-source: www.ufocasebook.com
