Laurinburg Couple Reports UFO in Barnes Bridge Area
Laurinburg, NC-Depiction of Sighting By Johnny Woodard

Published: Friday, November 14, 2008 7:33 PM EST

Last Sunday, a Laurinburg businessman said he had an experience that he might have chalked up to an active imagination if it had happened to someone else.

Even now he is a little bit sheepish when talking about the incident lest someone call him a "nut".

He has declined to give his name.

On Sunday at approximately 6:15 p.m. the man and his wife were driving past General MaCarthur's Restaurant when they saw a startlingly bright light on the horizon.

"What in the world is that?" the man said he asked his wife.

His spouse proposed that it was the moon behind the clouds. Then she spotted the moon in another corner of the sky.

"That's not the moon," the man said to his wife, as the rectangular shaped unidentified flying object continued to float slowly.

"It was a really, really bright yellowish color," he said.

As the couple continued their drive, staring in awe of what was before them, the object began to change.

"We saw it probably 30 seconds or so and it split and divided into individual round bright lights -- one in the group of lights was moving back and forth, casually."

Skeptics of the supernatural offer many explanations for experiences like the Laurinburg couple had on Sunday. A popular one is that what people see when they see UFOs are often military aircraft. That explanation would seem to hold some water, considering the proximity of the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport and Fort Bragg, which will be expanding in the coming months.

"It was definitely nothing like anything that is possible from our military," said the man. "I have seen lights just like these in UFO television programs before, and there is no way they are airplanes, or anything else like that."

Skeptics have also proposed that those who see UFOs do so because they want to. Notable skeptic James Randi, founder of the James Randi Educational Foundation, claims that many people who report UFOs simply allowed themselves to make an ordinary experience extraordinary. "Endless reports of UFOs have come in, most of them actually of weather balloons, science projects, meteors, regular airline flights, and other relatively mundane events," said Randi, who offers a $1 million dollar prize to anyone who can provide irrefutable proof of supernatural activity.

"In most cases, sizes and distances have been given, though such figures simply cannot be determined without the use of proper instrumentation, a comparison object, or another properly recorded, independent report. It is an illusion most people have that they can tell the size and/or the distance of an object without these advantages, and it is just not true."

Randi also challenges the credibility of those who claim to have seen UFOs, saying that many people who believe they have had experiences with aliens also believe that they "have lived former lives, and can recall them."

Past lives are not something the Laurinburg man, a Christian clergyman, believes in.

"I don't want people to think I'm some kind of a UFO nut," he said of his not wishing to be identified. "The experience raises no anxiety -- I just look at it as an unusual experience."

The pastor and his wife are not the only ones to have reported UFO activity in this part of the state. In November of last year, a pair of Southern Pines teens recounted to The Pilot their experience with strange lights in the sky.

Jacob Cole and Ben Sizer reported sitting on the porch near Cole's Lake Auman home and noticing a "bright, big, green glow" in the sky. The time was, just like this week's sighting in Laurinburg, approximately 6:15 p.m. "It was fizzling, falling like it was on fire," Cole said. Cole reported that the object then split into smaller parts.

"My dad is big into astronomy," Cole said, "We've looked at planets, watched shooting stars and meteor showers before. This was nothing like a meteor shower." Cole also added that there was no noise associated with the encounter.

There was also no sound during Sunday's sighting.

The couple continued driving in their car near Barnes Bridge Road, and noticed the objects move rapidly toward the direction of East Laurinburg. "Then they just disappeared."

This UFO sighting was the first for the wife, who had listened to her husband describe seeing three other strange flying objects over the past six months.

"I've seen single lights this year, very bright ... 'boy this is odd' I thought," the pastor said.

What the minister had seen at 5 a.m. while running, or late at night while taking out his dog could not compare to what he saw with his wife on Sunday, however.

The Laurinburg and Scotland County authorities received no calls over the weekend describing any unusual sightings.

That however, does not shake the couple's confidence in what they saw.

"Being a minister, and having read the Bible, I feel like it's something demonic.

(According to the Bible) Satan is the prince of, and has power over the air, and in my estimation it is related to that in a spiritual way."

"It is likely Satan trying to show his power."

Whether it is aliens, or weather balloons, or demons that the Laurinburg couple actually saw, a few things are true.

Two ordinary people who are afraid to seem like "nuts", and who are respected business owners and community and church members have had a graphic and stirring encounter with something they cannot explain.

UFO/Helicopters Videotaped in Cookley, Shropshire, UK
his is the first time I have sent you a video, I have posted you many photos in the past. However, approximately two or three weeks ago (Oct. 10th?), I emailed you several pics of a UFO been pursued by several dark, sinister looking helicopters that were screaming through the sky over farmers' fields, where a spate of crop circles have been reported.

I promised you that I'd forward you the video in due course, here it is. I decided to video the helicopters just on the off-chance that my camera may pick something up. Well it did!

At around 3 seconds of the film, you will see me zoom out, I was fascinated at the strange 'square' shaped cloud also. As I zoom out you can clearly see a golden, glittering UFO dancing around erratically in the centre left of the screen (in the square cloud).

Then a split second later, a dark UFO enters from the right side, also darting around at super high speed!

The video is short, maybe 10 seconds, but I found it amazing! I hope you agree. I didn't see the 'objects' at the time, as I said, I was just filming the odd-shaped cloud. If you have any questions please get back to me. Enjoy.

    Regards,

Two Airplane Pilots File UFO Report-Male, Maldives
Depiction: Maldives Sighting November 5, 2008-19:30 HRS. (LOCAL)

On Wednesday evening, November 05th, two airline pilots witnessed a group of lights in the distance, which appeared to them to be connected to one object. The lights maneuvered across the sky, changed direction, and apparently disappeared by passing over the horizon in the distance. We include here the written follow-up report from one of the pilots, with whom we spoke at length via telephone.

Colleague and I witnessed 3-7 lights moving slowly in unison across the night sky.

I was recently having dinner with a colleague of mine on a rooftop restaurant in Male, Maldives, when he noticed a grouping of 5-7 white lights moving in unison in the sky. He pointed it out to me as he thought it was a large aircraft coming into landing at the local airport.

We then realized it was nowhere near the airport and the lights were not bright enough to be landing lights and we came to the conclusion it was moving too slowly to be a commercial jet.

We continued to watch it as it went in-behind buildings, at which point we lost sight. Minutes after, we saw it emerge and change to the opposite direction it was moving originally.

The configuration of lights changed from about six scattered lights to 3 in the shape of a triangle with 1 trailing light in behind, all of which were moving at the same speed. We continued to watch it move left to right for about ten minutes.

During the time we witnessed the lights they had changed direction once, originally right to left, and then left to right. The formation, color, and quantity of lights also changed.

If I had to guess the distance of the formation I would say it was 10-50 miles away, if that is true then the formation would have been 1-2 miles wide. In relation to the moon it would have been anywhere from 3 to 4 times the width of a full moon.

Unknown Light Configuration Observed over Beaumont, California
Beaumont, CA-11-02-08 Beaumont California-11-02-08-While waiting in line to enter Oak Valley parkway (closest intersection Beaumont Ave) just as the night was getting dark, significant high cloud cover, I looked east to check traffic. My intended path was west, eventually south on Beaumont Ave.

I looked east to check the safety of moving into traffic and happened to notice what I thought initially was a plane flying pretty much right above Oak Valley heading west from Cherry Ave., appx 1/2 mile away.

The plane seemed rather low flying, maybe 200 feet in the air. I defined it as a plane due to the configuration of the lighting, wingtip lights both horizontal and vertical.

Traffic was not clear, so I continued to scan east. I then noticed the plane had not traveled very far, maybe 1 block at best, for how low and close it was. The distance from Cherry Ave to Beaumont Ave is appx 5 blocks, a plane would normally overtake that quickly. Apparently I was mistaken, it had to be a helicopter based on this information. I then observed the "helicopter" make close turns over the blocks surrounding the area to the south, very close turns. This reinforced my thought it was a helicopter.

At this moment, looking at the configuration of the lights, I realized the layout was wrong for a chopper. I rolled my window down as I entered the roadway heading west to listen - NOT A SOUND. I heard no noise from ANY traditional airplane or helicopter. I am now in line for the turn at Beaumont Ave, craning my neck into my mirror and alternatively pivoting to see the craft over the area behind me. The vehicle has not really moved far from its original area, seemingly circled and returned to its original path. The lights did not blink like normal aircraft and was missing the really bright fast blinking white light I usually see on civilian aircraft.

The night was dark enough I could not make out the body of the vehicle, possibly. The lights were as follows: 4 red lights, 2 of which were not visible at all times apparently due to the orientation at the back(?) of the vehicle to my view, 2 lights on each wing tip(guess?) blinking at a very slow pace NOT in synch with each other (in fact one blinked off time with the other to eventually blink in unison for seconds, then well out of synch the remainder of the time). Finally 2 "headlight" oriented lights, yellow/green in color and unchanging. None of these lights seemed to illuminate the vehicle in any way.

I had no option to stop longer and watch, for safety's sake. I had to make the turn and continue on. My destination was the corner of Beaumont Ave and 7th St, appx a mile away. CA 1102 As I exited my vehicle at 7th St. I heard the familiar and incredibly noticeable blade noise of a helicopter heading my way. I could hear it well over a mile away, not military (as they usually are REALLY loud and booming). As the chopper flew overhead I clearly saw the outline of the vehicle, its lighting not only appropriately spaced for a helicopter but also consisting of a familiar standard white quick-blinking light identifying it to me as a vehicle I am sure is just a helicopter. The white blinking light even illuminated the tail section. Obviously much of this was markedly different from the craft I had seen moments earlier.

I returned to the area where my first sight of the craft occurred 15 minutes later, no luck in seeing the craft again.

I initially thought this was a standard aircraft, from a quick look. By the time I had made my left turn to head south on Beaumont Ave, I was somewhat concerned as the vehicle did not fit my expectations of an aircraft I knew. My family and I attend air shows regularly here in Southern California. Nothing related to my sighting made me feel comfortable in the thought it was a known vehicle, but nothing made me feel it was extra-terrestrial in any sense either. it could be experimental, but I cannot fathom why the test would go forward in this sleepy town, at night, in sight of a large group of people protesting Prop 8.

I have attached my photoshop representation of my initial view of this craft. Again, I could not see a shape, so this is all based on the light pattern.

I was 16 years old and had my junior driver's license, which meant I could drive until dark. It was summer and dusk came late--around 9 o'clock. When we planned our days well and were lucky enough, we would arrange with the 18-year-olds who had full licenses to follow us home to drop off our cars before nightfall. They would then take us out in their cars for the rest of the night.

On a typical evening we would all hang out at the McDonald's in town. As dusk approached we would try to find the 18-year-olds willing to follow us home before the night took hold and the police sorted us out. Anyone caught driving with a junior license after nightfall would lose his or her driving rights altogether. Consequently, the hours between 7 o'clock and 9 o'clock became critically important each evening. If we did not have our "after nine" pals lined up by then, we were home for the night by nightfall.

It was a Saturday night. My parents were off visiting my grandparents. I was allowed to drive my mother's convertible around with my pals until nightfall. I was to return the car to our house by 8:45-or else.

I was out with my two friends, Sally and Sara. We were hanging out with our other pals at McDonald's. My friend Sally's older brother agreed to pick us up at my house at 10 o'clock that night--after I had taken my mom's car home. He agreed to take us for pizza in town. It was a big deal to us at the time as my friend's brother was a 20-year-old. Being seen at the pizza place with him was a feather in our 16-year-old caps.

Time came for us to take the car home and so we headed to my house to meet Sally's brother. I drove the car home and parked it in the driveway in front of the house. We all rushed to my front door as a few hours of cola-drinking at McDonald's left us all in urgent need of the bathroom. The three of us ran to the bathroom across the hall from my bedroom and laughed as we yelled at each other to hurry up and swore off all additional cola-drinking during future McDonald's visits. I was last in line and rushed into the bathroom as my two friends stood brushing their hair in the mirror.

My friend Sally stood straight up, turned completely white and said to Sara and me, "I have a horrid feeling--we are not alone in the house. I think I heard something." We all froze and listened. I thought I heard a sort of bump, too. I stood up and said, "Let's get out of here!" The three of us blasted through the bathroom doorway, down the hallway, and out the front door. I slammed the door and locked it.

Luckily, I had placed my keys into my pocket but I left my pocketbook inside the house. We ran to the car and I backed it into the street. We quickly closed the convertible top and locked all the car doors. We were all in the front seat. We sat there terrified. I could feel my heart pounding with a fear I knew was real and warranted.

After a few minutes we thought maybe we were just suffering from "boogie-man" syndrome. I thought I should at least go back inside and get my pocketbook. Then I could call my parents and have my license and money with me as well. I was getting out of the car to go back to the house when something caught my eye.

So I lifted myself from the driver's seat and stepped outside the car, I thought I saw the front porch light flicker. My friend Sara stood beside me in the street as we looked up at the house. We watched as the light over the front door turned on and off-again and again. I felt a fear I had never before known. Somebody was definitely inside the house and playing with us as well.

We jumped back into the car and locked the doors again. I started the car so we could go call the police and my parents. As I turned the ignition key with my trembling hand, I continued to watch this person inside our house proceeding to light up the living room. As we pulled away, my friend Sally said, "Oh God, he is in your room! He turned on your light!" I felt sick and angry all at once, knowing as I drove for help that someone was in my home, intentionally toying with us.

We reached the end of my street just as my friend's brother turned the corner on his way to pick us up. I blew the horn and told him to pull over. We all started screaming at once. He had brought two of his football pals with him and so we all decided to return to the house for one more look. We both parked in the street and everyone watched as lights inside the house kept switching on and off every few seconds-first the kitchen, then the den, and then over to the living room.

The front porch light was apparently turned on and off every time this intruder passed the switch inside. The boys watched this taking place and clearly felt the same fear we did. My friend's brother decided we needed to call the police. He sent one of his friends in his car to call 911. We stayed locked in my mother's car-the three of us girls, Sally's brother, and Sally's brother's friend.

I decided to keep the motor running. At this point I was scared out of my mind. We watched as the light show continued. We sat silently waiting. The air was still. The only sounds we heard were the light chirping of summer crickets and the light hum of the car motor. Nobody said a word. We all knew we were being watched by and played with by some type of madman. Sally finally broke the silence. She said, "Thank God you did not go back into that house." I just sat frozen, ready to drive away if I needed to.

We sat there for what seemed an awfully long time but in truth was only a few minutes. I was very fearful this person in my house would leave before the police arrived. We sat anxiously as the seconds ticked away and occupied ourselves by watching lights turning on-and now staying on--throughout the house. Soon the house looked like a barn fire on a dark beach as every light appeared to be on-including outside floodlights and driveway spotlights. We again sat silently, watching.

Suddenly from deep inside the house came this animal-like, wild growling scream. I will never forget this non-human screaming until the day I die.

As this thing screamed it must have been pounding on the backside of the front door or a front wall. The house echoed this wild animal like screaming and muffled banging with such force I began to shake and cry. My friend's brother touched my shoulder from the back seat with his hand and said, "We need to leave. This is way too much for us to handle."

I was shaking so much I could barely place the car into gear. We started down the road but had rolled only a few yards when our friend returned with a police car following right behind him.

Coincidentally, my parents were turning the corner right behind the police car. I stopped my car and waited until the policeman was standing just outside my car door. I rolled down the window and then we all started to tell him what was happening.

The policeman looked up at the house to see the last of the light changes occurring. As the policeman stood looking at the house the creature inside let out one last howling scream. The policeman reached for his side arm and whispered "Mother of God" My parents ran to the side of our car and the policeman asked my father for the keys to the house. He then withdrew his gun, called for backup and started up the driveway toward the front door.

Before the policeman unlocked the front door, another policeman arrived. He ran to the front door to aid the first policeman and they entered the house together. We all stood outside watching as the policemen made their way through our house-this now eery-looking building we girls had been giggling in just moments before. It again seemed as if a very long time passed-maybe ten to fifteen minutes-then one of the policemen called my father to the house.

Again they seemed to be searching the house-this time all three of them. My dad eventually returned to the rest of us, still standing by the cars, and told my friend's brother to take all the kids directly home and to lock his car doors and not stop for anyone or anything.

As my friends drove away, my dad told my mother and me to get back into the car. He got into the car with us and quickly locked all the doors. He then told my mother and me the policemen discovered the back door had been ripped open. He said the person who broke in had taken some of our clothing and makeup and thrown it around the house. My dad then looked at my mother in a way that told me there was something more he was not saying.

By this time there were many police cars around the neighborhood. I saw two policemen with a dog searching the neighbors' yard closest to our house. My friend Kim lived there with her family. We sat in the locked car for a long time. Both of my parents were upset and I was scared to death.

Finally a policeman appeared at our front door and motioned for my father to come back inside the house. My dad left us locked inside the car and did as the policeman directed. My dad talked with the policemen for a few minutes and then motioned for my mother and me to come inside the house as well. When my mother and I walked into the house, one policeman and my dad took my mother by the arm to show her something down the hallway while another policeman tried to distract me in the living room.

I wanted to stay with my parents and so I started to walk toward the bedroom area where they had gone when my mom let out a horrible scream and burst into tears. I took off in a full run to where my parents were standing.

They were in my bedroom. I walked into the bedroom myself and saw my parents looking behind my open closet door. The policeman was looking behind the door as well. I leaned forward and pushed the closet door closed in order to see what they were looking at in the space behind it.

On my bedroom floor, no longer hidden by the closet door, sat a little wooden chair my dad normally kept in his office behind the garage. Draped over the chair, as if someone had been sitting there holding it in his hand, was a long piece of brand new rope. It looked as if someone had just let it slip from his hands as he stood up to leave. On the floor beside the chair were a long sharp carving knife from the kitchen and some matches.

My makeup had been used to paint strange marks and symbols on my bedroom wall. My nightgown was torn and thrown into the waste basket next to my desk. On my bed was an outline where something had laid on it and left an imprint. Across my headboard on the wall were long claw marks where something had torn into the wall. I also noticed a putrid order lingering in the house. I took it all in despite my paralyzing terror and then I looked one more time at the little chair and rope no longer hidden by the closet door... I ran to the bathroom and vomited.

My mom, crying, came in after me. I knew I had missed losing my life that night by the mere luck of my friends needing to use the bathroom. If I had entered the house alone, my life surely would have been taken. The question was, but by what? It was a big deal that night. The police stayed with us for hours. They did not pretend the incident was just a robbery or some silly kid staging a prank. I knew clearly, as they did, that I had barely escaped a cruel and untimely death. Police searched the area for hours that night. They scanned the house for fingerprints and took great care in recording the details of all we had seen and heard.

The police talked to my dad before leaving and told him they knew of another incident in the area with similar details. A woman had been lured into her basement by the unexpected sound of her washer and dryer running. She also heard the horrid screams of this vile intruder and ran for help. It was not the first time they had to deal with this, and we could tell the police were both concerned and frightened.

I slept on the floor in my parents' bedroom that night. In fact, I slept on their bedroom floor until my dad fitted all the windows and doors of the house with either heavy-duty locks or steel bars. I refused to go outside by myself or drive anywhere in the car alone. I was terrified.

We were sitting at the kitchen table when he finally came back. I could tell by one look at my dad's face something once again was terribly wrong. My father sat down and told us that my friend Kim had been sitting in the family room watching TV. She was home with her mother and little brother, sitting on the couch beneath the family room window, when something from outside the house grabbed the window-frame and all-and ripped it right out of the side of the house. I could not understand what he was telling me.

I asked my father what he was talking about. He repeated-someone or something with incredible strength grabbed the window frame and ripped the entire thing out of the wall of the house. Kim jumped up screaming as an arm swatted for her from outside the window shell. Kim claimed she felt what seemed like a claw skim across her neck. Her mother heard all the noise from another room. She grabbed her husband's loaded rifle and ran into the family room where she saw the window ripped out of the wall and this arm reaching for Kim.

By this time Kim was on the other side of the room screaming. Her mother took aim and fired at the space where the window had been. She could not tell whether she hit it. What ever it was ran away when she fired the gun. Once again the police searched the area. Dogs were used. Police cars covered the streets. Once again this creature escaped. I remained terrified the rest of that summer. I refused to leave the house without another family member accompanying me.

I refused to drive alone in my car. I never stayed home alone and progressed only as far as sleeping in my bedroom with the door open-provided my brother (who was home from college on summer breaks) or my parents kept a bedroom door open as well.

I went away to school the following year. I would never again spend time alone in that house. If my family went away, I would go out too and stay out until they returned. I never again felt safe in that house.

As far as I know, whatever entered our house that summer night was never caught or identified. I do know he or "it" intended to tie me up and hurt me. I do know he or "it" had little fear and enjoyed terrifying us that night. I also know he or "it" was beast-like and far from human given its loud haunting screams and incredible physical strength. I will always believe the monster that ripped the window and frame out of Kim's wall was the same monster that intended and tried to kill me.

I am thankful I ran out of the house that night, that I did not go home alone, and that my friends were there with me to help me think things through. Sometimes our fate is just a slight degree from being something we can or cannot survive.

That night fate gave me a helping hand. Many a day since I have pondered how lucky I was to survive that horrifying period. It haunts me still as I continue to wonder what type of creature I could have faced alone that night. We all often wonder from where did it come? And where did it go? I often think about this experience as one of the greatest mysteries of my life.

Remember; always be careful out there. One never knows what lurks behind the closet door!

Another U.S. Air Force Loss to a UFO in 1959?
    Air Force Jets
Those who are interested in the study of UFOs are well aware of the cases where U.S. Air Force pilots and their planes were lost chasing unidentified craft.

The Thomas Mantell case of January, 1948, and the Kinross disappearance of November, 1953, are the only two known situations. If a recent article is to be believed, a third incident may have occurred in Japan in the spring of 1959.

Writing in the Spring, 1993 issue of the now defunct magazine "FAR OUT" (Vol. 1, Number 3, pp.20-22), an ex-serviceman named "C. L. Hawke" claimed to be on duty when an Air Force interceptor merged on a radar screen with a UFO, and disappeared, never to be found.

"Hawke" detailed his early interest in an Air Force career as a high school student in 1954, eventually went to college and then began his Air Force career as a meteorologist in 1957.

He was assigned in October of that year to the Fifth Air Force Headquarters at Fuchu, Japan. Here he reportedly learned that 4 specially instrumented F-106 "Delta Dart" interceptors were based in the Western Pacific region, with 2 at Masawa and 2 at Okinawa.

He indicated that the F-106 "was a new type of aircraft that was not yet officially in the Air Force".

(NOTE: Current historical data on this aircraft indicates the first F-106 flew on December 26, 1956 and that deliveries to the USAF began in July, 1959.

This could possibly allow for a number of early production aircraft to enter into USAF service at the time of the incident. The F-106 was an improved variant of the original delta-winged F-102 "Delta Dagger."

In the Spring of 1959, "Hawke" wrote that he was at the Combat Operations Centre at Fuchu, monitoring weather conditions, when one of the other men at the Centre exclaimed, "They're back again!"

Upon asking what was going on, he was told that unidentified flying objects were again being tracked on radar in an area south of Masawa, between Honshu and Hokkaido.

These craft, according to the servicemen at the Centre, were found to travel at 2,000 miles per hour, and then suddenly stop and hover, sometimes for as long as 2 to 3 hours.

The UFOs would then head off between the two islands and disappear off the radar screen over the Sea of Japan.

A request came back on the base radio, "Shall we scramble?" When "Hawke" asked what that was all about, he was told that two specially-equipped F-106 interceptors were to be sent up to engage the UFO.

However, only one plane went up, as the second craft's instrumentation was not working properly. "Hawke" was asked for a weather forecast and indicated "some low clouds and then a middle layer of clouds, oh maybe 15 or 16 thousand feet," but then "clear on top with some cirrus stratus above that and a big full moon". Perfect for tracking the plane and the UFO, according to his colleagues.

The lone F-106 went up, and soon had the UFO in sight. The pilot was put on the Centre’s intercom through a down-link, allowing those in the room to hear the pilot's side of the conversation with Masawa. The pilot described "a circular object hovering... metallic and has a cockpit on top".

The pilot then asked if he should make a firing pass, with the reply from the commander being, "We better get authority for that."

Apparently, a communications link was established with the Pentagon and within five minutes came the answer, "Yes, make the firing pass."

The pilot then rolled in and fired off his rockets at the UFO. In what "Hawke" described as "the highest falsetto I've ever heard," the pilot exclaimed that he had fired the rockets and that "they detonated but did not hit it (the UFO)."

It was "like an invisible shield... it didn't look like any shrapnel had penetrated."

The pilot was then heard to virtually scream, "Oh my God, they've turned on some sort of beam and they're turning. They're coming after me."

The pilot then went into "a vertical diving manoeuvre", while the radar operators "started screaming out that it's moving and vectoring toward (the pilot)," and they started "counting out the ranges as it, (the UFO) was coming down."

The pilot then said, "It's moving closer," and continued to describe how the craft was closing in on him and how he could see "this beam passing him by."

Suddenly, the two blips on the radar screen merged as the radar operator said "Contact."

One blip remained on the screen for a while, with nothing else showing. "Hawke" stated that he then gave weather forecasts for 4 straight days while the Air Force searched for the F-106 and pilot. Nothing was ever found.

True story? Misinformation? Disinformation? Perhaps someone else out there has additional information to provide on this incident. Although there are similarities to the Kinross case (Pilot Felix Moncla Jr. and radar operator R.R. Wilson disappeared in their F-89 Scorpion interceptor over Lake Superior when radar saw their plane merge with a UFO and vanish), the fact that the then state-of- the-art F-106 was entering into service at that time and was probably considered an equal and powerful force against any "unknown" seems to indicate possible validity.

Yet, this story has never appeared anywhere else. Only time, and additional witness testimony, will shed any light on this case.

-Thanks to John Schwab, MUFON, San Antonio, who insisted that I tell my story. To mention this story was not something which I naturally felt comfortable doing. Only after tracking the MUFON site for several days after this event, and noticing the numerous sightings reported the same week including several back around Stephenville, TX, was I persuaded to come forward.

I flew down to San Antonio on an annual business trip Sunday, Oct 19. Arriving at the airport I picked up a rental car and traveled through the city and started southwest in the direction of Eagles Pass for the night. I left the interstate onto Texas Highway 57 toward the Mexican border town.

Soon after leaving the bright lights of the interstate exit, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that a supposed plane was tracking the path of the 2 lane highway. I assumed that it was just a low flying airplane using the road to navigate its course. At the time that I first noticed this craft, it was a solid white glow. The object was tracking my speed until it came upon the first radio tower and it seemed to slow down somewhat before resuming my speed. About this time, I noticed that this supposed plane had no position lights or anti-collision lights.

My attention was further heightened as the craft passed and slowed down for another radio tower and then started to dip in altitude before regaining its previous path. It was at this time that the object started changing shapes and colors at the same time. The object changed from a small white glow into a much larger rectangular object, showing colors of blue and green.

I then entered a series of curves. I noticed that rather that continuing on a straight course, it too had followed me into the curve making up the distance and growing in brightness and intensity. Not only was it glowing now, but it was casting its light on my vehicle. After another curve or two it followed the same pattern of growing much closer and cast its light in my direction. By now I was completely unglued. the object had changed shape again and was now oblong or cigar shaped and had now turned red in color. I continued down the road until I finally came to the town of la Pryor.

I did stop at a convenience store in the middle of town as the craft moved on slightly ahead of me and paused to hover at the western edge of town but still within my sight. I did not know if I had the nerve to continue on, even though I had a guaranteed hotel reservation 40 miles ahead of me in Eagles Pass.

It was too late to cancel my reservation now and I had not passed a hotel since I left the Interstate 40 miles back. Traffic had become less and less frequent on this Sunday evening as everyone must have been home with their families. What the hell was I doing here and why was I being singled out? Do I dare get back on the road and chance an abduction?

I hung out in the convenience store for a few minutes and came out hoping that the object had moved on, but it was still there just outside the few lights in this small town. Was I the only person who had seen this strange object? Why did it not just keep moving?

After waiting outside for a few more minutes, a tour bus pulled over at the same convenience store and parked for a few minutes. I thought that I would just wait until the tour bus pulled out and follow him to the border. If anything strange happened on the next stretch of road, at least there will be witnesses on the bus. About the same time the tour bus was pulling out, an 18 wheeler came through town with 2 cars behind him. As the bus pulled out behind them, I was right on the bus' bumper. There was no way that I was going to let these vehicles out of my sight after this craft had been tracking me for 40 miles.

The object resumed its course as soon as I pulled out of La Pryor. now it was following an 18 wheeler, 2 cars, a tour bus and myself in my rental car. These other drivers were not wasting time, in fact the tour bus passed the 2 cars on this 2 lane highway and I was pleased just to keep them all in sight. Our little convoy went for about 10 miles, until suddenly the craft abandoned its parallel course with the road and took a more southerly route, and took off at a much faster speed. I watched it until it moved out of sight heading for Mexico. I became convinced that I was being singled out for a possible abduction. I am certainly glad that it never came to that. I made the final leg of the trip without any further incident and checked into the holiday inn express in Eagles Pass as planned. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep that night thinking about my trip to this border town.

-My fiance and two good buddies of mine were traveling to Houston Motor Sports Park, located off of Beltway 8 and Lockwood Friday night when this event happened. We were all having a good time and talking about what our race car we had just finished would do that night at the track. Then about 5 minutes down Lockwood right after the railroad tracks it happened.

I noticed it first, then the others passengers noticed as well. We were all saying, "What the hell?" A giant green-blue, flashing streak just appeared off to our left in somewhat of a darkened field, and that is what made it so obvious. It was so fast and then it just disappeared. The funny thing this was about 200 feet away from our truck.

Another interesting fact about this occurrence is this streak just appeared and seemed to have a path of about a 45 degree slant. I'd say it started about 70 feet off the ground and continued on its slant and disappeared at about 10 feet off the ground. It was so bright that it stopped us immediately in our tracks.

It was a neat experience and all of us kind of just hung around for a bit hoping to see more of the unexplained. I've always been interested in UFOs, and I'm not sure if we saw one or not but nonetheless it was an exciting moment of confusion for all of us. Things just don't appear and disappear that fast in normal circumstances. This streak of light was amazingly fast.

-My sister and I were visiting our parents who live in the country just outside of De Leon, Texas. At about 10:15, she went outside to receive a phone call because her signal was weak inside. When our dad turned off the outside lights, she noticed a lighted object due east just above the tree line. At first she thought it was a plane. She watched it for approximately 30 minutes, then came in to get me.

We took our dad's binoculars and watched the object for at least 30 more minutes. We could see the colors with the naked eye and with the binoculars. It was triangular in shape and was pulsing red, green, blue and white lights. It seemed to turn from time to time changing the order of the lights. It stayed in the same spot, then appeared to get higher slowly and started to drift more south. Then we noticed appearing to our left as we looked east, another one rising over the trees.

It looked just like the same one only appeared to be further away. It also turned from time to time. We then got in my sister's truck and went out to the road and sat looking at them. They appeared to get smaller and then the clouds started to move in and obscured them. We also noticed that, at some times, there was a white light tail following them. The moon was 3/4 full and until the clouds moved in from the southwest we could see the stars. Between us both, we watched them for at least 2 hours.

-While traveling south bound on Highway 59 from Nacogdoches to Lufkin, my wife who was driving, noticed a light in the sky above the tree line to the left of the road and ahead of us. It was large-about the size as the oncoming car head lights. It seemed as if it was moving to cross the road in front of us but it never did. It looked as if it moved toward the highway, stopped and hovered above the trees, like it was waiting for us to drive past it. After watching it for about 1 minute, I got our JVC DV recorder and began taping it through the windshield.

The light would go behind trees and emerge as we were driving toward it, going bright then dim, but not in a regular pattern. I taped for about 2 minutes or so until we were passing it to our left. I stopped taping [not following it with the cam as it was going up and out of view in the windshield, thinking it was just a plane). As I was looking at it out the top of the windshield as it was going behind us for a split second.

I could see the triangle shape, lights on the 3 points, white, red, and blue, and a bright white light in the center. I had my wife stop the car off the side of the road and I got out to tape again, and the object was moving up the far side of the Highway 59, to the north, at a high rate of speed away from us, like it was running away.

I was standing with one foot on the door sill and taping over the top of our van. I could see the two colored lights flashing as it went out of sight behind the tree tops. This section of tape shows very little due to the lack of light, but you can see one frame of flashing lights.
