Photograph over Reunion Island Shows Unknown Flying Object
|
Here is the message I just received, with a photo attached ...
Grand Thanks to Frederic!
{loosely translated from French}
Ile de La Réunion. "Sunday, February 11, 2007 to 08 heures15, at the kiosk located at the top of the Entre, on the path of DIMITILE, Ile de la Reunion. Here is a photo taken by Sir Frederick GERARD.
At the moment we have not seen anything yet we were 7 people, watching the pictures back here is what we saw...
We were thinking of dirt on the goal but the shot after it does more than dust... it's worth enlarge ....
Does this look similar to the photograph taken by Mr. de St Denis, few months ago, when he was trying his new camera?
In the foreground of the photo is the large ravine basin, and in second place behind the bamboo where there is a platform where there is a helicopter, and in the background tower SIDR of the stamp. "
Thanks to Christian Mace for sending me the file.

Unknown Objects Photographed over Florida
|
Florida-11-18-I was taking pictures of unique cloud formations in my backyard. They looked like effects of chemtrails with some areas having a "oil" sheen affect on them. I took perhaps 20 pictures and downloaded them to the computer. I slightly balanced levels on the photo and they were easily visible, though without the balancing they were more difficult to make out, though easily seen.
I did not notice them while taking the pictures.

UFO Sanctuary To Be Created in Russia
|
The authorities of the Kishertsky district of Russia, where the famous anomalous zone Molebka is situated, have decided to turn the district into a unique UFO sanctuary and have already made a contract with Moscow State University of Service that is going to develop the sanctuary project.
Molebka anomalous zone is situated near Molebka village at the border of the Perm territory and the Sverdlovsk Region of Russia and is often called “favourite village of UFO”. The authorities of the region make no disguise of their intentions to make the area more attractive for tourists so that it could bring more money to the regional budget.
It is expected that the project will be ready by the end of the year. At the moment one of the local businessmen is reconstructing the building of a former school in Molebka to turn it into a hotel complex. Also, the regional authorities have applied to a local cellular communication provider with a request to set mobile masts near Molebka village.
Although the infrastructure of Molebka is only developing, the area already attracts quite many tourists. For instance, here is annually held the festival “Energy of Life – Atmosphere of Love” that attracts representatives of cultured public along with psychotherapists and astrologists.

Where was Joe Friday during these intense conversations? The
material is about 20 years-old, rambling, and vaguely
interesting. These undisclosed agents pop out of the woodwork
in the UFO DIScommunity so often, always breaking their oaths
for the greater good. Label this HUMER/HUMOR/HUMOUR.

[by Don F. Ecker State Section Director MUFON,

This summer, while on vacation back to my families residence, I
encountered a family friend that I had not seen since 1973. For
obvious reasons I will not identify him, but for this record
will call him "Paul".
Paul is retired from over 30 years of distinguished government
service, is a widower, and is one of the most closed-mouthed men
I have ever known. When I first came back from Viet Nam in 1972,
I saw Paul at a family get-together, and even though he was just
back from South East Asia, he never mentioned it. I found out
through his brother.
When I went back east, I had taken a number of text files from
my records, for my sister, who is fascinated by the subject of
UFOs. It so happened that one evening, my sister and I and wife
and another friend, Bob, were sitting outside my mothers house,
and were discussing several of the files that I had taken back.
Paul stopped out at the house, as he was going to a function
with his sister and my mother. He sat down on the patio with us,
and as usual, did not say much.
My sister was reading the file concerned with
the Majestic 12 papers and making some comments, that if this
file was for real, the implications of alien contact could be
staggering for the world if verified. At this point Paul
leaned forward and asked if he could see the papers. My
sister passed several of the texts to him, and until he
left, he spent the remainder of his time reading them.
Just before he left, he got me off to the side, and asked
how I was involved with UFOs. I told him that Iwas an
investigator for MUFON, and was involved with a computer
network system with Paranet.
This was the first of several conversations I had with Paul, and
I don't ask anyone to believe it, because, frankly, I have
problems with several things he told me. And you may wonder why
Paul would tell me anything, considering his government service,
and the agency he worked for.
To begin with, Paul is very ill, the last time I spoke with him,
he told me that he doesn't expect to be around for more than 18
months, maximum. Next, he told me that he never agreed with all
the secrecy that surrounded the government and the subject of
UFOs. And lastly, what he hinted at was actually occuring seemed
to haunt him. As he said, there wasn't a hell of a lot that even
the government was able to do about the situation.
I present the following, and you can make up your own mind about
whether to believe or not.
This summer past - 1988 - was the 20th reunion of my High
School. This was the reason that I traveled back, and besides,
my wife is in love with the east coast. While back, I became ill,
and ended up spending almost two weeks in the hospital. Paul
came and visited me, and this is how we ended having the several
conversations that we had.
Paul at first ask if I realized what dangers were present in the
subject of UFOs. I said "No", but I had heard rumors that this
could be the case. He said you damned betcha it could. "If you
stumbled over the right information you could end up among the
missing, and Don, this sure as hell wouldn't be the first time."
I asked him how he came to know so much about the subject, and
he said with the job he held, it was his business to know about
a lot of things. I then said come on Paul, I had dealings with
spooks while in Viet Nam, so don't try that line on me. He
told me then, that this was to his knowledge, still one of the
most highly classified subjects in the intelligence community.
That brought to mind the 'Smith Memo' from the 50's, and I
relayed it to Paul. I mentioned that Smith had stated that
the subject of UFOs had been rated higher than the H bomb,
and in perspective, was this still the case? Paul sreply
follows, and for the purposes of this file, I have condensed
our talks into one session.
In the 40's, when the 'flying saucer' scare started, the
military and government were concerned that it was possible
that the Soviets had made a breakthrough in technology with
their German scientists, that our German scientists had not
been able to duplicate. It then became evident that this
technology was above and beyond what we were able to achieve,
so the phenomenon had to come from outside. For awhile there
was a deadlock as to what to do, but then apparently the
military was able to secure one of the craft.
I asked Paul if he meant Roswell, and he only smiled. He said to
read the MJ 12 stuff again, that there were enough facts to get
an idea of what he was talking about. After that, it was
apparent that the technology was well above what we were capable
of.
There were fears among certain people that this could be the
prelude to invasion, or possibly even worse. Others saw this as a
straight shot to technology that we couldn't even dream of, and
to exploit everything we could out of it.
Paul stated that there was a genuine fear that if the Soviets
could get one of these, and exploit it, the United States would
be in deep excrement. There was a think-tank that was set up,
and the decision for secrecy was understandable in that
scenario.
Many of these craft were flying over nuclear installations, and
one thought at the time was that they could be after uranium
among other things, if they were, as believed then, coming from a
'dying' planet.
I asked if at that time, were they considered to be benign, and
Paul said yes, they were, but then several things happened to
change that idea. He would not elaborate, so I mentioned the
Mantell incident, and he said that is the most well known case,
but there were others, and some very bizarre.
The think-tank that was set up in the 40's were concerned that
some of these cases would become public knowledge, and they
still remembered the War Of The Worlds scare that Wells threw
into the public in 1938. They did not want a panic that could
affect the nations security, commerce, industry, finances and so
forth. The result was to debunk the whole damn thing, and hope
it would either go away, or they could solve it in time before
it did become public knowledge.
I asked Paul about several cases that I read about in Clear
Intent, one of them being the Cuban Jet Incident. Paul
said that he had heard about that, he wouldn't say much,
but this is not the only case where one of these objects
had shot down aircraft, "and it didn't all happen outside
the U. S. either".
"Look", he said, "if you were out in a very primitive area,
and were lost, or hungry, or what ever, and came across a
primitive native tribe, and I mean compared to you, really
primitive, would you trade with them, or take what you
needed, food, women, whatever, if you were very amoral?
Look, if in this case, you regard these natives as less
than dirt, and the only thing they have in common is that
they have what you need.
You are familiar with the animal mutilations aren't you? Many
people think that this was a government sponsored operation,
testing chemicals or something. Well, it wasn't, and farm
animals are not the only thing that has been tested. The guys I
know that are still active have said that right now, is one of
the biggest 'UFO flaps' that they have ever heard of, and there
is a lot of concern as to how long it can be kept secret."
I hated to break in on Paul when he was talking this freely,
but had to ask about the reported astronaut sightings.
Yes, there were sightings on damn near all the 'shots', and it
was always feared that the news services would pick up on some
of the reports. We did a damn good job of damage control though.
"Well Paul, what about reports that these things have been seen
on the moon?" I asked.
"Yes" he said, "they have been seen there, and some of this has
come out, so I don't think I am breaking any oaths, but ,
haven't you asked yourself why, after all the billions of
dollars that we had spent to get to the moon, after the early
70's, no one, us or the Russians, have gone near the place."
Yes, I admitted, I had wondered why, and then asked him if he
knew why. Paul just smiled and then pointed to the file that
contained the Lear Text.
"You know", he said, "this guy has hit pretty close on several
points, and I wonder if anyone has approached him?"
I asked what he meant, and he looked at me and said "Don, you
know what I mean, and after all, if a lot of the general public
became aware of this, they would scream like a mashed cat, and
demand to know what the hell the government is doing about it.
The proble mis, there are some that still think that they can
control events and keep a lid on this, and others that know we
are way in over our head and are looking for a way out."
Alright then, what are these things, where do they come from,
and what _do_ they want? I must have looked pretty exasperated
then, and Paul looked at me and gave me kind of what I thought
w as a sad smile.
"Don" he said, "I don't know where they come from, as to what
they are, they are very different, and as to what they want, you
are gonna sleep a lot better if I just go." And he did leave
then.
I haven't talked to Paul since I got back home, and just several
days ago, I got word that he had a heart attack and is in very
poor condition.
I have wondered about a lot of what he said, and have decided
that in lieu of keeping the whole thing to myself, I would put
it on my word processor, and then make a decision whether to
release it or not.
Paul had stated on several occasions that this subject had
the potential to be be very dangerous, and to be careful of
pursuing it.
"With access to the right information, if it became known, people
have disappeared."
I don't think he was just trying to scare me, the guy had been a
professional intelligence agent for longer than I have been
alive, and I am sure he knew a hell of a lot more about this,
than I would even want to. He had mentioned several things, that
even now I hesitate to put down, but the thing that inclines me
to accept what he said, was knowing a bit of what kind of man he
was, he seemed haunted and scared.
Well, in light of several things that have occured recently,
with the 'New and Improved' Blue Book, which I might add I
distrust wholeheartedly, the meltdown within MUFON, the
continuing 'flap' that doesn't show any signs of slowing
down, much less stopping, and the fragmented community of
UFO investigators, I discussed this with my better-half,
and have decided to throw it out, and see where it landed.
Take it for what it is worth, and remember, I have just relayed
what I was told, and I did warn you up front that this was
almost beyond belief.
Anyone with any additional information is requested to contact
me in care of Paranet RHO at 1-208-338-9187.

Disclosure Project Open Letter
|
THE DISCLOSURE PROJECT
STEVEN M. GREER MD, DIRECTOR
14 November 2007
Dear Governor Symington and Mr. Fox,
Congratulations on an excellent press conference on Monday. We are heartened to see the process of Disclosure continuing and that some of the witnesses and materials brought forward by The Disclosure Project (www.DisclosureProject.org) are continuing to reach the public.
Regarding the request for a government/civilian panel to investigate the UFO matter, while we appreciate your laudable purpose in making this request, we are concerned about the unintended strategic consequences of such a process. To wit:
It is important to realize that powerful and well-funded unacknowledged special access projects (USAPs) within sectors of the US and other governments, and working largely through ‘work for others’ contracts with private institutes and corporations, have already been investigating the UFO/ET matter for decades.
These projects are rogue, unconstitutional and transnational in nature. In briefings that I conducted personally for CIA Director R. James Woolsey, Defense Intelligence Agency Director General Patrick Hughes, the Director of Intelligence, Joint Staff (J2) and senior members of key Congressional committees (Senate Intelligence Committee, House Government Oversight committee, etc.) among others, it was made clear that the chain of command has been subverted. Even after providing current project code names and numbers to J2, and after he subsequently located one of these USAPs within the Pentagon and demanded to be ‘read into’ (or briefed) on the operation, this Admiral informed us that he was denied access to these projects.
The science and technology behind these ET vehicles have been studied since at least the 1940’s and have been largely understood and reproduced. Their energy and propulsion systems, once disclosed, would eliminate the need for oil, gas, coal, nuclear power, public utilities and so forth. Many UFO sightings are, in fact, of these advanced aircraft which have been developed by Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, SAIC and other military contractors and were operational by the late 1950s.
Importantly, in 1969 the Condon Committee at the University of Colorado, a panel much like what you are recommending, became a fraud perpetrated on the public, and its chairman, Dr. Condon, was a secret, unacknowledged CIA asset (after briefing CIA Director Woolsey and making a FOIA request, we obtained a CIA document that establishes this fact). Dr. Robert Wood, then of McDonnel Douglas Aerospace, was involved with the Condon Committee and discovered that Dr. Condon was sanitizing any credible evidence from the report and even withheld such evidence from other panel members (see www.DisclosureProject.org witness testimony by Dr. Wood). When Dr. Wood challenged Dr. Condon on this behavior, Dr. Condon contacted Mr. McDonnel directly and attempted to get Dr. Wood fired. Any such committee today would most likely be a similar corrupt hoax and would seriously set-back Disclosure and only deepen the cover-up.
In light of the above, we recommend a strategy to have open, secrecy-free hearings before a relevant Congressional committee, such as the House Government Oversight Subcommittee for domestic affairs, chaired by UFO-observer Rep. Dennis Kucinich, or some other committee headed by a similarly honest and trustworthy chairperson. Alternatively, a hearing by the UN or the World Court would be an acceptable venue.
Importantly, since The Disclosure Project now has over 400 military, government, corporate and intelligence witnesses from around the world, as well as corroborating official documents and project code numbers and names, such a pool of witnesses testifying before an open, televised hearing would assure honest, real-time Disclosure. This pro!
cess, so long as open and conducted by an honest chairperson, would be much less likely to be corrupted than a government panel investigation.
I wish you great success in your important work towards disclosing the truth about UFOs and wish to assure you that all of us at The Disclosure Project stand ready to assist you and this process in every way we can. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss this matter further.
Best always,
Steven M. Greer MD

The Trinidade Island Photographs
Trindade is a small, deserted, rocky island located in the middle of
the South Atlantic Ocean, between the Brazilian coast and the African continent,
more than six hundred miles off the coast of Bahia. During World War II,
it was used as a military base for United States and Brazilian warships
engaging German U-boats. It was abandoned after the end of the war, remaining
completely deserted and forgotten until 1957. In October of that year
a task force from the Brazilian Navy arrived there, under the command of
Captain-of-Corvette Carlos Alberto Bacellar. The Hydrography and Navigation
Division of the Ministry of the Navy had decided to build an oceanographic
post and a meteorological station on the island for research connected
with the International Geophysical Year (IGY).
In early January 1958 the ship "Almirante Saldanha" left
Rio de Janeiro's harbor and proceeded toward the Island of Trindade with
a crew of three hundred. The ship had previously been a Brazilian Navy
training vessel, but it had been converted into a hydrographic unit to
be used for IGY-related research. It was operated by the Hydrography and
Navigation Division, and, since October 1957, it had made several
trips to Trindade, most of them connected with the Navy's oceanographic
studies for the IGY.
Several civilians were aboard the ship this time, officially invited
to collaborate in the scientific studies which were underway at the island.
One of these men was Almiro Barauna, a photographer and former newspaperman working
as a "free-lancer." He was also an expert in submarine photography.
After a routine trip, the ship arrived at the Island and stayed there
for several days. It was scheduled to leave for Rio on January 16. On that
day, at 12:15 P.M., when the ship was preparing to depart, a strange object
was sighted simultaneously by a number of observers gathered on deck. The
UFO came toward the island at high speed, hovered briefly over a peak,
disappeared behind it for a short time, and appeared again to move away
toward the sea. Mr. Barauna was taking pictures of the ship's maneuvers
at that moment. He spotted the UFO and got four pictures of it.
Barauna was later interviewed by reporter Joao Martins and his statements
were published in the Brazilian magazine "0 Cruzeiro" in the March
8, 1958 issue. Here is a translation of that interview:
Q. Mr. Barauna, what were the reasons for your presence aboard the
NE Almirante Saldanha?
A. The Navy had invited several teams specialized in submarine hunting
to visit the Island of Trindade. I am a member of the Icarai Club for Submarine
Hunting, and our group was invited for the last trip. So, on January 8,
when the ship left Rio, I was aboard together with the following members
of my group: Amilar Yieira Filho, captain of our team, a government employee
(he has a job at the CACEX); Jose Teobaldo Viegas, instructor at the Aero
Club of Niteroi and Air Force captain (retired); Mauro Andrade, from the
London Bank; and Aloisio, municipal employee at the Federal District. We
were going to try to beat some records on submarine hunting. Personally,
I was going to take underwater photographs for the Navy and, also, to write
some articles about the Island and the activities of the scientists working
for the IGY.
Q. Were any other civilians aboard, besides your group?
A. Yes. There was Professor Fernando, a geologist, with two assistants,
and also a photographer, and a reporter from the newspaper Jornal do
Brasil. The three scientists left the ship and went to the island.
"Q. Please tell me what was the date of the sighting? What happened?
A. It was on January 16, at 12:15 P.M. The ship was preparing to leave
the island, to come back to Rio. I was on the deck observing the operations
to take aboard the boat used in the trips between the ship and the island
(the island has no harbor). The sea was agitated. The weather was cloudy,
clear, with no shadows. I had my Rolleiflex 2.8, Model E, which was kept
inside an aluminum box for protection against the corrosive effects of
water and salt. I had left my Leica with a telephoto lens in my cabin a
few moments before. The deck was full of sailors and officers. Suddenly,
Mr. Amilar Vieira and Captain Viegas called me, pointing to a certain spot
in the sky and yelling about a bright object which was approaching the
island. At this same moment, when I was still trying to see what it was,
Lieutenant Homero, the ship's dentist, came from the bow toward us, running,
pointing out to the sky and also yelling about an object he was sighting.
He was so disturbed and excited that he almost fell down after colliding
with a cable. Then I was finally able to locate the object, by the flash
(of light) it emitted. It was already close to the island. It glittered
at certain moments, perhaps changing its own light - I don't know. It was
coming over the sea, moving toward the point called the Galo Crest. I had
lost thirty seconds looking for the object, but the camera was already
in my hands, ready, when I sighted it clearly silhouetted against the clouds.
I shot two photos before it disappeared behind the peak Desejado. My camera
was set at a speed of 125 [125th of a second], with the aperture at f/8,
and this was the cause of an overexposure error, as I discovered later.
"The object remained out of sight for a few seconds - behind the peak
- reappearing bigger in size and flying in the opposite direction, but
lower and closer than before, and moving at a higher speed. I shot the
third photo. The fourth and fifth ones were lost, not only because of the
speed the saucer was moving, but also for another reason: In the confusion
produced as a result of the sighting, I was being pulled and pushed by
other persons also trying to spot the object and, as a consequence, photographed
the sea and the island only - not the object. It was moving out to sea
again, in the direction from which it had come, and it appeared to stop
in midair for a brief time. At that moment I shot my last photo (the last
on the film). After about ten seconds, the object continued to increase
its distance from the ship, gradually diminishing in size and finally disappearing
into the horizon.
Q. Did you hear anything unusual during the sighting? Was the object
emitting any sound?
A. I am not sure, to be honest, because of the noise made by the sea
waves against the island's rocks, as well as for the yelling aboard the
ship at the time. However, I think that I heard nothing besides those sounds.
Q. What was the color of the object?
A. It showed a dark gray color, appearing to be surrounded - mostly
in the area ahead of it - by a kind of condensation of a greenish, phosphorescent
vapor (or mist).
Q. Did the object appear to be metallic?
A. Yes. It was obviously a solid object.
Q. How was it flying? Any special characteristics?
A. Yes. It showed an undulatory movement as it flew across the sky,
like the flight of a bat. And when it came back, it changed speed abruptly,
with no transition, in a jump.
Q. Do you know how many persons aboard the Almirante Saldanha
sighted the object?
A. The object was sighted by almost all the people on the deck at that
time, including Lieutenant Homero, Captain Viegas, and Mr. Amilar Vieira.
Q. What happened after the sighting?
A. The ship's commander and several officers from the garrison wanted
to see what I had got in the photos. As I was very curious too, I decided
to develop the exposed film at once, aboard the ship. The processing was
done under the supervision of several officers, including Commander Carlos
A. Bacellar. But only the negatives were seen aboard. The reason: There
was no photographic paper for the copies on the ship at that time. The
negatives, however, were seen and examined by the whole crew.
Q. Did you keep the negatives in your hands?
A. Yes.
Q. Were you under any pressure to give up those negatives to Naval
authorities?
A. No. Commander Saldanha da Gama (the ship's CO) and the other Navy
officers aboard were very kind. They never tried to get the negatives from
me.
Q. What happened when the ship came back to Rio?
A. The ship stopped first at Vitoria, in the State of Espirito Santo.
As it was going to stay there for two days and later travel to Rio, we
were permitted - the civilians from the submarine-hunting group only -
to leave the ship there and to take a bus for the rest of the trip. Later,
two days after the arrival of the Almirante Saldanha at Rio, Commander
Bacellar (ex-commander of the Navy Post at Trindade) appeared at my residence.
He wanted to see the enlargements made from the negatives and asked permission
to take them to the Naval authorities. Two days later, they were returned
with congratulations. I was also requested to appear at the Navy Ministry
as soon as possible. They wanted to ask me certain questions and to see
the negatives again.
Q. And what happened there?
A. I was interviewed by several high-staff officers, who asked me all
kinds of questions. I went there twice. At the first meeting, they requested
the negatives for examination. They were sent to a civilian organization,
the Cruzeiro do Sul Aerophoto grammetric Service, remaining there for four
days. I was told by the Navy officers that the analyses proved they were
genuine -excluding definitely the possibility of a trick or falsification.
On the second visit, they performed several time-tests. While I worked
with my Rolleiflex, taking shots at the same time intervals I had used
to photograph the object, three Navy officers with chronometers registered
the times. They came to the conclusion - based on these tests as well as
on studies concerning the ship's position and examinations of charts of
the island - that the object was flying at a speed between 900 and 1,000
km./hour [about 600 mph]. The object's size was also estimated on the basis
of studies related with the island's details also appearing on the photos,
diagrams drawn on charts, graphs, et cetera. The object was about 120 feet
in diameter and about 24 feet high.
Q. Do you know anything about the official report on the case?
A. I saw a dossier which was consulted many times during the interrogation.
However, I didn't read what was written there. I was also informed that
my photos, mixed with other pictures, had been shown to witnesses of the
sighting - to be identified. The result was positive.
Q. Do you know anything about any photos by other people aboard the
ship?
A. No. Besides myself, there were at least four other persons with cameras
at the time of the sighting. But apparently they were not able to spot
the object in time, or were paralyzed by their emotions.
Q. Were you warned against something by the Navy's authorities? Was
there some recommendation?
A. Yes. They requested me to keep the matter secret for some time. I
was permitted to publish the case only after authorization from the Navy.
The permission was granted, verbally, on the night of February 15, by Commander
Bacellar. They made only one restriction, which I cannot mention for the
reason that I have given my word.
Q. Do you know if your sighting was the first over the Island of
Trindade?
A. I was informed of four other sightings over the island during those
thirty days preceding the incident of January 16. I was also informed of
another thing: At one of those sightings, the object was photographed by
a Navy sergeant. His photo obviously was not released and probably never
will be - the reasons are evident. Besides those four sightings, there
was also the RADAR case. A target flying at supersonic speed was tracked
by the radar of the Almirante Saldanha on January 15.
Q. Did you receive any money from the Navy for your work at the Island
of Trindade?
A. No. I was there as a guest.
Q. Did you receive any money from the Navy for your photographic
work, or for the enlargements you made for them?
A. No. I only received the photographic paper to be used for enlargements.
Q. How many enlargements have you given them.
A. Thirty-eight.
Q. One last question: What kind of impression did you get from observing
the flying saucer?
A. I am absolutely sure it was a controlled object - either directly
or by remote control - but very well operated, in any case. The general
impression of people aboard the ship was the same: It had come to make
a close observation of the ship.
Immediately following the publication of the photographs, the Brazilian
Navy refused to make any official statement confirming or denying the incident.
However, proofs from the original negatives were sent to the other armed
forces and to Brazilian President Kubitschek. According to the press, the
narration so impressed Mr. Kubitschek that he became convinced of the veracity
of the happening.
On February 24, three days after the photos were first published in
the press, the Ministry of the Navy finally made the following official
statement: "With reference to the reports appearing in the press that the
Navy is opposed to divulge the facts concerning the appearance of a strange
object over Trindade Island, this Cabinet declares that such information
has no basis. This Ministry has no motive to impede the release of photographs
of the referred-to object, taken by Mr. Almiro Barauna, who was at Trindade
Island at the invitation of the Navy, and in the presence of a large number
of the crew of Almirante Saldanha from whose deck the photographs
were taken. Clearly, this Ministry will not be able to make any pronouncement
concerning the object seen, because the photographs do not constitute sufficient
proof for such purpose."
On the morning after the photos of the flying saucer were published
in the press (February 22), the Almirante Saldanha departed Rio
to continue its mission in connection with the IGY. Two days later, however,
the ship docked at Santos (February 24) for voyage repairs; this was the
first chance that newspapermen had an opportunity to interview officers
and men aboard. The U.S. Assistant Naval Attache' was in Santos at this
time, in connection with the visit of U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Westwind,
and had an opportunity to visit aboard. The commanding officer, Capitao-de-Mar-e-Guerra
(Captain) Jose Santos Saldanha da Gama, had not seen the object and was
noncommittal. The executive officer also had not seen it but, arriving
shortly thereafter, had formed the opinion that those on deck had seen
it. The captain had reported that his secretary, a lieutenant commander,
had seen it, but this officer, when personally questioned, avoided discussing
the matter. Later, it was learned that the photographer was accompanied
to the dark room by an officer who waited outside the door while Barauna
developed the negatives alone. When the Westwind's commanding officer
paid a visit to the Almirante Saldanha, Captain Saldanha da Gama
freely discussed the flying saucer incident and showed the original proofs
to the callers, but again did not commit himself.
Federal Deputy Sergio Magalhaes sent a note to the Ministry of the Navy
on February 27, protesting the Navy's failure to secure sworn statements
from witnesses. "For the first time in flying saucer history, the phenomenon
was attended by large numbers of persons belonging to a military force,
which gives these photographs an official stamp. Threats to national security
require greater official attention and action," said the deputy. In the
middle of all the publicity, other sighting reports came to light, including
one by a naval officer who saw a UFO a month before the sighting from the
Almirante Saldanha, off the coast of Espirito Santo. The commanding
officer and crew of the Ata Tridente had seen a UFO several days
before the Saldanha episode, but had kept the in formation secret.

Arizona-Cluster of Lights
|
11-12-I was at Lake Havasu looking at stars thru my telescope, when I noticed with the naked eye a bright star low on the southern horizon. After locating it with the
telescope I was astonished to see it was actually a cluster of lights. It then started moving west to east and I was able to track it thru the scope for about 2 minutes until it faded away in the eastern horizon.
This was also witnessed by my wife and daughter who also described it as 6 or 7 brighter lights on the leading edge in the shape of a boomerang, followed by about a
dozen dimmer lights close behind which were clustered together. It was traveling much faster than any of the airliners which fly overhead, and seemed to be more
distant and outside of our atmosphere. I've been looking for reports and wonder if anyone else may have seen this. source: www.mufon.com

Arizona-Three Red Lights
|
11-21-I'm working night shift and went outside to smoke. As I was smoking I was staring at the night sky as I always do. I caught movement from my peripheral
vision coming from the North West. I first noticed the three faint red lights in a triangle and thought maybe it was a meteorite, but there was no tail and the lights didn't
change color. As it crossed my 12:00 the nearly full moon showed the wedge shape quite well. As a retired Air Force member I'm quite familiar with aircraft and
their flight characteristics. The object was flying at approximately 10,000 ft and made no noise. I waited well past it had crossed the southeast horizon listening for
any sound and heard none. The object was approximately 200 ft in length and 50 ft thick with three red lights on the underside. It appeared to be black or at least
non-reflective in color and texture. The time it took to cross from the northwest to the southeast was approximately 3-4 seconds. source: www.mufon.com

New York-Oval Object
|
11-23-I woke up last night. It was about 2 PM but I'm not exactly sure. I woke up from a very bright light that filled out the whole room. The minute I saw the light I was sure it was directed at ME-the angle it was positioned at was in such a way that I saw it as soon as I opened my eyes, shining down on me through the window. I did not feel threatened but amused, and fell back asleep immediately. I only remember thinking: "I have to check if there is a streetlight that could cause this." But at the same time, I knew already that it wasn't a streetlight as it was too bright, and I had never noticed lamps like that before. I woke up about two hours later, and the same oval object was still present, shining down on me. I fell back asleep and woke up at 5.30 AM, when it was gone. I checked for lamps, street lights, or any object that could have caused the light but could see nothing but the open sky. The object was situated above the treetops, or above our neighbor's house. It didn't move. It seemed to be investigating or searching something (thus the bright light). There was a strange energy since the light was extremely bright and white. I was sure that I (our house) was an object under investigation. source: www.mufon.com

Pennsylvania-Dark, Circular Object
|
07-05-I was working at my job and trying to fix a broken garage door. My coworker stood on a ladder as I stood at the bottom of the ladder to keep it steady. I
was watching what he was doing with my head pointed upward to the sky. In my peripheral vision as I was looking up, I spotted a dark circular object in the sky. This object was moving about as fast as an airplane flies. I saw no wings and one flashing red light with an interval of about two seconds between flashes. The object wobbled in a way that is hard to describe in words. After about twenty seconds of us watching this scene it went behind and above a huge puffy cumulous cloud.
We did not see it emerge from the other side of the cloud. It was dusk and partly cloudy but clear skies and good visibility made the object very clear and easy to see. The object appeared in a southwesterly direction and moved in a straight line west of the initial sighting spot. I was confused about the object because I have never seen an aircraft flying over Philadelphia that had no wings and wobbled that way. My initial thought right away was that it may be a weather balloon but it was perfectly circular. My coworker and I agreed after comparing what we saw that it was not anything that we could identify and highly unusual in the middle of the city. source: www.mufon.com

Texas-Object Hovers
|
11-20-I just got off work and saw a bright light zoom from the left side of the street to the right then back to the left side of the street then hover in place for about
thirty seconds. I then ran inside and grabbed my camera and my step dad came back outside and it was still hovering in the same place. It slowly began to move
toward us in a sweeping arch almost like a helicopter but no sound was being made and there were no rotors. At first I thought it was a helicopter but as it drew
near I had a feeling like my chest was being pushed on it stop its arch and hovered for bout five seconds then started to move in an arch away from us over the city. It
looked almost like it was landing about half a mile away because it was dipping below house height at a steady pace. I then got into my truck and drove to were I
could see the whole city and nothing was in the air the time between I first lost sight of the object to the point where I could see anything in the city air was about forty
seconds to a minute. The object appeared to be disc or cigar shaped with a with a larger disc running through the center of the object. A red light was on the top
leading edge and a blue light on the top trailing edge. As it moved over Amarillo the city lights partially illuminated it. A blue-white light seemed to be emanating
from the bottom. source: www.mufon.com

United Kingdom-Two Amber-Orange Lights
|
11-10- Ramsgate, Kent, England-Time: 22.45 approx GMT. These 2 silent objects traveled horizontally from south to north along the English Channel with no flashing navigation lights visible. Distance from me appeared to be relatively close, 10 to 20 miles. They were visible for approx 30 seconds, with the leading
sphere disappearing in the north with a flicker or two, then nothing visible. The second was traveling just above the first a short distance behind, then flickered and disappeared. There were several other witnesses to this event, but no one had a camera or mobile to capture them. source: www.ufocasebook.com
