I have been trying, over the years, to find out more about a "UFO"
sighting I had some time in the 1960's (probably around 1966-1967).
I was living in North Brunswick, NJ at the time this occurred.
I was in maybe 6th grade. It was the evening (dark out). My girl friend and I were standing on my front porch looking at the night sky which I recall had clouds breezing in. You could see sky and clouds. We were commenting that it looked like a night for werewolves. The moon must have been out because I recall the sky seemed eerie and dark yet bright. The clouds were visible. All of a sudden we saw a red dot in the sky... and in an instant it enlarged from a pinpoint to a large red oval... deep red... then right next to it another red dot appeared and enlarged to a duplicate oval beside the first. The two red ovals were vertical in my orientation and were pretty high in the sky... maybe 45 degrees up from the horizon or higher. I ran inside and called for my parents to look a this... they came out, as did my younger brother.. .and saw them briefly before the clouds covered the two ovals. I would say the ovals were approximately the size of a quarter, maybe a half dollar, if you held it at arms length against the sky. That was it. Evidently the next day it was reported on the radio that it was some type of weather rocket from the Carolina's that had a problem. I'm really not sure what that report was about. My sister, who was in high school at the time recalls the incident. She said she was on line with friends to see the Young Rascals at New Brunswick High School, (New Brunswick, NJ). She said "they" the kids on line saw the incident... but she remembers it as the entire horizon turning deep red... not at all what I saw. So I am confounded a bit by it. I am wondering if there have ever been reports like this. By the way those red ovals in the sky did not look like aircraft to me. Not really... they were perfect red ovals. Almost like solid red paint. Flat red ovals. That is how I remember them. Anyway, anything that I could find out about this incident would be of interest to me. Thank you. Jdi
