Dear UFO Casebook Team,
I and sending you two photographs of what I think are UFOs that were
accidentally photographed by me. I sent the pictures to [another UFO web site]
last year, but never got a response. Now that I found your great web site,
I hope you care a bit more about my photos.
Now back to the photos themselves. They were taken at very different
locations and with several months between them.
First let me explain how DSC05892 was created:
We were on our way back from our holiday in Bulgaria in September 2006,
aboard the MD-82 "LZ-LDK" of Bulgarian Air Charter. Our departure airport in Bulgaria was Varna (ICAO code LBWN). I'm an aviation
enthusiast, and always take lots of pictures on airplane trips, so I took
pictures of the beautiful sunrise some 30 minutes after departure.
I'm not sure which country we were over by that time.
When I got home and downloaded the pictures from the camera, an old Sony
Cybershot (not sure which model it was exactly, we sold it), I decided to
run an automatic contrast enhancement, and some other post processing steps
over all the images, because the camera had certain quality flaws I always
had to take care off, which I had created a script for in Paint Shop Pro
that performs actions against those flaws automatically.
So after that
script had completed (and overwritten the original images with the
post processed ones, so unfortunately I don't have the original one
anymore), I looked at the photos for the first time and noticed the
object that I caught on one photo. I could not see it at the time I was
taking the photograph, but there it was.
The sun was behind and a little above us at the time the photograph was taken, and was not very bright.
The object seems to be highly reflective or self-glowing. As
a reference for the sunlight I also attached the next photo I took of the
sky and clouds maybe 5 or 10 minutes later. On that picture you can also
see the scratches of the aircraft's windows and how they were illuminated
by the sunlight, so you can be sure it wasn't a scratch.
The second photo, P1010541 (which is not post processed, but original as it
came out of the camera), was taken with my new camera, a Panasonic Lumix
DZ-50, in the pedestrian zone of the city of Hanover, Germany, on May 30, 2007.
I was strolling through the pedestrian zone near the train
station when I heard a helicopter. The helicopter roughly estimated flew at 30-50 ft, the UFO seemed to be
much higher, maybe even 10,000 to 25,000 ft I guess. Being an aviation enthusiast, I of
course immediately turned to look for the helo, managing to take one photo
before it vanished above the next buildings.
The helicopter was flying very fast, as you can guess by the look of the photograph. The helicopter
is far from the center of the image, and the picture isn't perfectly sharp.
I hadn't seen the UFO at all and continued my walk.
As usual, I downloaded the pictures the same day, but unlike with the old
Sony, I don't have to touch photos made with the Panasonic at all, so I
started to look at the 49 photos I had taken that day.
I took a closer look at the photo of the helicopter. I noticed the silver, shiny
object on the left-hand side of one of the helicopter's rotor blades. I
can't explain what it is, but to me it immediately looked like a UFO
after I enlarged and cropped that part of the photo (that try of an
enlarged version is also attached). Nothing else I know of could be shaped
like that, hanging high in the sky over a wide and open pedestrian zone
on a clear blue day.
Kind regards
Matt F., Germany
