I saw a craft in the sky, southeast of where I was standing by about 100 yards or less. At first it appeared to be a helicopter, hovering over the park that is near our house. It was moving in a westward direction, then, I noticed that there was no sound of a helicopter, the craft appeared larger than a helicopter, was not flying at a very high rate of speed, and was quite close to the ground.

At one point it disappeared behind a two story house, then I noticed that it shifted direction and was heading to the north. There were lights on all sides of it, but one light at the “front” of the craft was the largest and brightest and was white, sometimes taking on an orange hue. There were other lights that were all red on the sides and rear, which pulsed on and off. I saw a total of four red lights.

The large white/orange light, I thought, was a search light at first, it was very bright... the ground around me was illuminated from it. I ran inside and when I ran into the backyard to see if I could see it continue its path, I saw nothing.

Then, a minute or so later my boyfriend and I saw something pretty far off and much higher elevation, which appeared to be the same thing I witnessed. It was still heading in a northward direction, we watched as it disappeared from view.

A couple of minutes later I saw a jet aircraft heading northward at a very high rate of speed... it appeared to be a large jet with red lights at the front and “sides” (it took on a triangular shape) and then I heard the Doppler sound as it passed by.

My boyfriend did witness the craft as it was much further away, But he did not see it as I did when it was so close, so to him it looked like it could have been a helicopter. The weather was cold, (40 something degrees) windy, very clear skies.

The craft appeared over southwest Las Vegas, which is roughly 15 miles S/SW of McCarran International airport, but this craft did not appear to be making an approach to the airport at all. We are quite far to the southwest of Nellis Air force Base, but the activity I witnessed did not appear to be near the base.
