THE hit series X Files returns to TV screens against a background of UFOs reported in the skies over East London this week.

There could be a case for Mulder and Scully to investigate sightings of alien craft possibly landing at the big Tesco supermarket car-park at Bromley-by-Bow, by the A12 Blackwall Tunnel approach road.

"A number" of UFOs were seen hovering above the store, according to one eye-witness.

Earthling cameraman Chris Martin, 47, who lives nearby, believes 'the truth is out there' because he was lucky enough to spot them.

He also claims he has also come across an 'alien abduction.'

But it was the aliens' interest in the grocery and household store that sparked his 12-year curiosity.

"I saw a number of UFOs hovering as we went into the supermarket," he told The Sun newspaper.

"I was fascinated and since then have had lots of sightings, including many I've recorded on video."

His ex-girlfriend from 1996 revealed her own dark secret.

"She confided in me 12 years ago about strange memories of being abducted by grey aliens," he revealed.

"I was initially sceptical, but then weird things started happening in our flat.

"Our belongings would move when we were out and sometimes she'd speak in a weird voice, as if an entity was trying to communicate."

Chris decided to share his experiences by joining Abductees Anonymous, a hidden organisation formed in 1990 to help people across Britain who claim to have had alien encounters.

"It gives people who've been contacted by these entities a place to talk without fear of ridicule," Chris added.

He is not the only one who has had an 'alien encounter' as Government files released by the Ministry of Defence earlier this year reveal four sightings of flying objects and flashing white lights in the skies above East London.

Around 200 files, which can now be downloaded from the National Archives website, include information dating back to the 1970s with the MoD's evaluations.

Among these previously-secret 'X Files' is a sighting from a bunch of burly coppers at the former Whitechapel police station in Leman-street who reported "flashing white lights" at 3.45am in March, 2000.

They described a suspicious "small, red light" moving slowly to the south, doing a U-turn, then moving off 'in a northerly direction' at great speed, followed by tight circles.

There was a similar sighting in Bethnal Green a year ago with "20 solid red lights in the sky."

The spotter added: "The lights went up and down and then just disappeared."

The truth is out there... somewhere.
