I wish to report a sighting of a single unusual object in the sky over high Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, moving close to the old Daws Hill Lane US Air Force Base on 13/6/09.

I was at the time, traveling North towards Oxford on the M40 Motorway between J3 Loudwater & J4 High Wycombe (Handy Cross) when I saw the object appear at about my 11 O’clock position moving quite slowly from left to right at an estimated 300 to 500 feet.

The object then suddenly changed direction and speed when reaching my 2 O’clock position to travel toward me and pass directly to my right in the opposite direction, tracking the M40 Motorway Southward.

My son Matthew (14) who was traveling as the only passenger in my car, also witnessed the object and recorded the event on a small piece of paper, as it appeared so weird at the time.

He was also able to scribble a very rough image of what he saw at that instant also recording the exact time from my car clock (set correctly) for which I fully concur.

The object moved in a very strange fashion, and initially attracted my attention due to the unusual light it was emitting (sort of randomly pulsating/flickering bright orange).

I first thought it may have been a helicopter on a night flight with a headlight, perhaps out of Wycombe Air Park. But when it made a sudden change of speed and direction in what appeared to be a nanosecond, we both became alerted that this was most unusual.

What was most notable was the pulsating bright orange light that appeared to be suspended underneath the object.

If it wasn't for the remaining ambient light from the setting sun, the object itself would not have been visible and would have appeared as just a floating light.

The object was cylindrical in appearance and was tapered on top into a dome or possibly pointed apex, it was too distant and the light level was too low to make out any further details.

Date: 13/6/2009.

Time: Exactly between 21:41 – 21:42 BST

Conditions: Had been raining. Very slight drizzle; it had been a showery day. Very clear visibility at sighting time. Dusk light conditions; high, light cloud base with dark blue sky.

Although we never reported it at that time, I think this event may be important as it has affected both me and my son. We just wondered if someone else was in the area that night and had reported this phenomenon?

I remain a UFO sceptic, but this event is making me ask some serious questions about what we saw that night.
