Near Breckenridge, TX - 07-24-09

I was at my rural home, east of Breckenridge, Texas, at 8:10 PM on July 24, 2009. I was walking past my patio door, when I noticed my big dog (Howard) laying on the porch. He was intently staring at the ESE sky. I looked in that direction but didn't see anything.

The dog just kept staring with his ears perked up, so I knew he was seeing and possibly hearing something that I could not. He stared for a good 5 minutes, so I knew it had to be something unusual. He doesn't even glance at the planes and helicopters that fly over all the time.

If it had been a conventional aircraft, I would have seen and heard it. I picked up my little Sony digital camera and began snapping pictures in the direction he was looking.

When I downloaded them to my laptop, I found a pinkish white light in each one. It appears that whatever the object was, it was heading from North to South across the normal flight path of aircraft to and from DFW. There was still almost an hour of daylight left and there were no clouds in that direction, except for one thin cirrus cloud much lower and to the south.

Evidently the object disappeared, because Howard finally looked away, then laid down. I don't know if this has anything to do with what turned up in the photos, but earlier in the day I heard Howard howling. He seldom barks and only occasionally howls at sirens. I heard no siren at the time.
