I would like to add something to the East Lancs case, if I may. I have been following reports going back several months now, regarding sightings reported from Snowdonia, right up to Mid Yorkshire and beyond, I myself along with my wife and children have seen this same object on three different occasions now.
The first sighting took place on October 31, as we were driving into Liverpool at around 20.15, on the east side of the M62. We had just passed two Police cars, one was busy helping load a car onto a recovery truck, and the second was about 2 miles further on just sitting on the hard shoulder.
I noticed the light which was heading towards the direction we were coming from, heading towards Widnes and the power station, although it was still a considerable distance away, and just leaving the Queens Drive area.
In the car was my eldest daughter 15, my youngest daughter 7, and myself, I remember the exact time and date because we were heading to a Birthday party and had to be there for 20.30, the Police Officers on the Motorway must have seen it, it was so bright and obvious, and heading right for them.
The light had a purple, pink, red, and blue tinge to the colour, but seemed to alternate between them, not flashing, just subtle changes - very, very bright - a lot brighter than any fireworks we had seen during the trip.
I can't guess at the height, but it looked to be just below the cloud base, and seemed for a moment to illuminate the clouds and then drop down a little. It was moving at a fair pace and passed us and that's when we lost sight of it.
The second occasion was two nights later, this time around 18.00, the same people were in the car, but also my wife this time. She noticed it first, which got me excited a little ,because I had talked to her about it the night before and was happy she had seen it also.
This time however it was further out from Liverpool, we had joined the Motorway at the M62/M57 Junction, and it was just a few seconds before we spotted it, it was heading towards the northeast and at quite a speed. The sighting lasted maybe 20 seconds, then the object was gone.
The third time was 4 days after sighting number two. My wife and I were heading to pick up a cage, locally, in the Belle Vale area of Liverpool. Aagain my wife saw it first because I was driving - this time I had the opportunity to stop and watch. The object came from the direction of Liverpool City Center, and seemed to be gaining height.
It turned towards the southeast in a loop, which was way too sharp for any aircraft I have ever seen, the clouds began to illuminate in a pinky hue, and the object entered the clouds. The clouds then started to glow, which lasted for maybe 5 or 6 seconds before I could no longer see it.
It reminded me of the little red orb from the movie, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," when it swings around the corner on the road while being chased by Police. It had the same kind of looping motion and speed, just the colours were different.
I managed to try and take some pictures using my wife's phone, a LG GT500. You can see in image 104, the object and how bright it is, but there seems to be another object in the picture also to the left and a lot closer which I didn't see at the time.
The picture does not do the object any justice, but you can see, even with all the light pollution, it shows up well, it was not a star.
It certainly wasn't a lantern, helicopter, blimp, or anything else I could identify. I have included the series of pictures I managed to take so you can see the object did not remain, so was not a star.
I feel this gives credit to all the other sightings reported over the northwest over the past couple of months. As for the second object in the picture, I don't know what it could be, it seems to be in picture 103 also but smaller, maybe you can make the details out some more because I don't have the software for examining them, I hope you don't mind their inclusion.
Kindest Regards
Colin
