COULD it have been Father Christmas on his sleigh?

That is the question to ask yourself if you saw the strange lights over Bridlington on Christmas Day.

Ben Walker, who was enjoying Christmas at his sister's house on Clarence Road, saw a orange, yellowish ball in the sky travelling in a straight line while in the back garden on Friday afternoon.

He contacted the Free Press to see if anyone else had noticed the object in the sky.

He said: "It was roughly quarter the size of the sun, but nowhere near as bright, like a fire ball. I told my sister and girlfriend straight away, none of us have seen any thing remotely like that before. It was so big in the sky, other people must have seen it."

The sightings were also backed up by contributors to the BBC Lincolnshire website, with one reader, Dave Hatfield in Thorngumbald near Hull, spotting something similar.

He said: "It was an orange glowing ball that moved in a straight line for about a minute before turning at a right angle and heading into the distance.

"It made no sound at all but seemed to be travelling slightly slower than a light aircraft might. There was no wind so I don't believe it was a Chinese lantern plus there was no upward movement, just lateral."

Other UFO enthusiasts also claimed to have seen similar lights on various paranormal websites.
