California - 02-13-10
I was just looking up at the nice, clear sky over Sunnyvale, CA, and noticed a string of lights, very dim. I don't know if they were lit on their own, or reflecting city lights.
The objects were heading south, from where I was, off of Elcamino Real, about 2 miles east of Hwy 85. I'd say they were directly over Mountain View, and continued over Cupertino and Saratoga.
They were constantly changed their grouping, first all in a row (not a perfect straight line but still together), then they separated into 3 groups, 10 (rough number) the other two groups larger.
Then they all merged back together, and and near the end of the sighting, they all seemed to cluster together tightly (I'd say they were over the Cupertino / Saratoga hills at this point) and they faded out.
That's why I think they were not luminous, but reflecting the city lights. I saw a small plane fly by, it was definitely lower in elevation, but you could see the aviation light flashing.
Using that, the elevation was higher, but I could not guess at what level, and the objects made no sound.
