Elliot Lake, Ontario, c. 1970-1972

I am going to tell you about a UFO experience I had when I was a young boy about 10-12 years old, my mother and several of her friends were also witnesses to it, and I have to assume many more people saw this.

The really surprising thing about this story is that I do not ever remember any media coverage regarding this sighting, nor have I seen anything on it at any sites that investigate sightings.

This story takes place between 1970-1972, I do not clearly remember the year. I was living in a small town in northern Ontario called Elliot Lake.

One day in the late afternoon just around the dinner hour, my mother and I walked out of our house and saw some neighbors outside, immediately we could see that they were observing something in the sky.

What were they looking at? It was a large, very bright, triangular shaped object that didn't seem to be moving at all.

We watched it for some time trying to figure out what it was, and again I have to say it did not appear to be moving.

Now this was interesting, seeing this strange object in the sky, but wait there is more.

The reason I thought there should have been some kind of media coverage is because after some time of this object being in the sky we saw a military aircraft flying at a very strong angle, almost vertically heading straight towards the object, we could clearly see the contrail from what I am assuming was a fighter jet.

Suddenly the jet disappeared... gone ... no sight of it at all, it did not turn around and head back, it just vanished.

We continued to watch for a while, no other aircraft went towards it, and it continued to just sit there in the sky.

My mother took me back home for supper, and after supper I went back outside to see if it was still there, it was, but it seemed to have moved, it was as if it was following the earth's rotation and setting with the sun.

I went to Sunday school the next day, and my teacher that day told us about a strange thing he had seen while driving back from Sudbury, he described exactly what we had seen with the jet and all.
