I'm writing to you because I've been doing some family research concerning UFO sightings, and I came across something strange. Here's a little background information so that this all makes some sort of sense.

When I was 12, back in 1984, I saw a huge UFO hovering about 25 feet overhead one evening while my best friend and I were walking home. Fortunately, I had a great and supportive family that helped me get through a very confusing and scary situation.

Needless to say, it forever altered my perception of reality. I had another encounter while driving with my older sister a few weeks later, and then I didn't see anymore for years, until I was grown and had children of my own.

My oldest son is almost 17 and has been seeing them off and on since he was 4. My niece had an encounter walking in the woods in her backyard when she was 12, back in 2008.

My husband has seen them with me, as well as my stepson. I recently broached the subject with my father, and he informed me that HE had an encounter in the late 60's that he never told me about because he didn't like to talk about it, and he didn't want to scare me considering what a hard time I had when I was younger.

He also said that he'd seen them over the years as well. I talked to my mother, but she has never seen anything unusual in her life. So I started focusing on my father's side of the family.

He loves looking up about our ancestors, and said that there had been old family stories about our relatives seeing UFOs in Floyd County, Virginia, where his side of the family first settled when they came to America from England back in the mid 1700's.

So my sister found a book for me on Floyd County, and sure enough - there were reported sightings in that book that went back to the time my father's family settled there. I know that in itself is not concrete proof, but still - it's pretty strange.

But this is all from his father's side of the family - and I thought that maybe they (whoever they are ) were tracking the descendants of our ancestors or something, and maybe that's why some of us in the family see them throughout our lives.

I still can't explain why some do, and some don't. But then I found out something that really made me wonder. My father's mother, who passed away about 15 years ago, has one living relative left - her younger brother who is in his 80's.

I visited him a few weeks ago, and he told me that when he and his wife's only son passed away 20 years ago, that when they left his funeral - they saw a UFO directly over THEIR heads.

They took it as a sign from God or from their son, that everything was/will be OK. It was was nice that they had such a good feeling from their experience.

So I had to rethink my whole theory about who or whatever is keeping tabs on my family, because now this is both sides of my father's family. I've also considered that maybe they are just checking on a bunch of people, and its just coincidence that someone on my grandmother's side had a close encounter.

Now to get to the pictures that I've attached. My great uncle grew up on a tiny Island in Maryland called Tilghman Island. I visited there as a child, and loved getting to see the house where my grandmother grew up.

I haven't been back since, and after visiting with him, I decided the other day to check on Google Earth to see how much its changed since I was there last.

While looking at the island, I noticed something strange in the water, and zoomed in to see what it was. To my surprise, I found this triangle-shaped thing in the water.

Now, I know that this could be some sort of raft or debris or something, but you don't see many triangle rafts floating around, and considering everything - I just thought it was really strange / coincidental.

I know that you have the ability to really check out pictures well, so I was wondering if you could give it a look and tell me what you think it might be.

Also - do you know if anyone else has researched their family history concerning UFOs? I'd be interested to see if there was anyone else out their who had it running in their family as well. Maybe we have something in common - like a distant relative, or some place in common that we lived in hundreds of years ago.

Anyway, thank you for your time - I love checking in on the UFO Casebook and seeing what's been going on. It really is the best web site that I've found that takes it seriously.

Sincerely,

Name withheld
