MYSTERIOUS strange lights were seen in the sky above Nuneaton – by four people in two different locations and on the same night that four similar sightings were reported from other parts of the country.
Two friends, standing in a garden on the St Nicolas Estate spotted “two orange glowing balls” hovering just below cloud level.
One of them said: “At first we thought they were the rear end of fighter jets. But they did not move and there was no noise. They stayed there for around five to ten minutes then suddenly disappeared. It was very weird.”
This was at around 11pm on Saturday, June 26 – at exactly the same time as another couple in Nuneaton saw something similar.
A report of their sighting was sent to a UFO Info website. It said: “There was a bright orange light, quite large which was still very bright behind dark clouds. Then it started travelling upwards and downwards.
“We then noticed other lights coming from lots of directions, all travelling very fast. We watched for over 15 minutes.
"My partner even went over the field next to our house to watch them. We have never seen anything like this before – too fast for a plane, too large for a shooting star, too bright for a balloon or lantern. We didn’t even think to take pictures.”
A Warwickshire Police spokesman said that no calls about lights in the sky were logged on the weekend of June 25 and a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority said: “We have no record of anything untoward occurring that night.”
