Witness statement:

I was driving to Hixon near Stafford and had just passed Colwich, when I saw this very bright disc, with thousands of spikes, lit in a blinding white light, shooting out the top of it.

The disc was in a field. Stunned by what it could be, I looked hard and it started to rise so that I could not see the spikes anymore, but there was like a disc in the middle with a sort of upside down dome beneath.

There was a piercing light on the underneath of the disc and a huge plus sign [ + ] and the dome shape sort of dropped down into a spike, like those on top and it was glowing like molten metal at a forge.

I switched on the camera when the thing started to rise, thinking I would get a good picture but it rose really high. I managed to get a picture.

Afterwards I drove on a bit scared. I finally stopped at a petrol station for a can of pop because my throat was dry and on the way out these two blokes in a fancy Audi said to me:

"Ay mate, did you see that weird thing in the sky when you were driving up that road''?

I said "Yea, what do you think it was"?

At that moment one of the blokes grabbed my arm and said: "Talk about things out there and people will think your crazy."

The other one just stared at me. I got out of there.
