Jenna Melini wasn't shocked when she saw a UFO in the skies above Nanaimo on Wednesday evening. She says she has seen about 12 of them in the past 30 years. She was, however, slightly surprised because she hadn't seen one since 1998.

Melini was driving along Howard Avenue when she says a red glowing light hovered in the southeast skies.

She pulled over and stood on the sidewalk as the glow disappeared, leaving just a dark disc-shaped object, slightly smaller than a Frisbee, barely visible against the darkening horizon.

It slowly flew away, she said when later bragging to her friends. No one, however, "seemed that interested," she explained.

The native of England said the sightings come in spurts. This most recent one she considers to be a gift.

She hopes to find more people who have seen the same or similar images in order to continue her UFO research.

The self-proclaimed UFO buff realizes people will think she's crazy, but she doesn't care.

"My ex-husband's brother is an abductee," she said. "He saw this thing in the sky when he was camping as a kid and he ran into the woods after it. He doesn't remember what happened after that."
