THE weather has cooled but the NSW border has become a hotbed of UFO sightings. The region's top alien hunters have reported two sightings in the past eight weeks at Bilambil and Banora Point.
According to information provided by UFO Research Queensland, the Banora Point sighting occurred in early May and the object was described as a "grey/brown blob" similar in size to a two-person aircraft.
It allegedly made no sound and moved south and out of sight.
The Bilambil sighting occurred in late April when a retired nurse spotted a red-orange object outside her window and it was illuminating her house.
She described it as the size of a beach ball and said it shimmered before taking off and disappearing. UFO Research's Sheryl Gottschall said both sightings were slightly unusual.
"The Bilambil sighting was interesting because encounters are not usually that close and it apparently burned some nearby plants," she said.
"It is rare we hear of any sightings which have any ground traces and corroborates the story."
Reports of sightings to UFO Research Queensland have skyrocketed since the Sun published a Varsity Lakes woman's close encounter of the first kind last year.
Seeing a UFO is a close encounter of the first kind. Physical evidence lifts the rating to the second kind, while contact with a UFO is an encounter of the third kind.
