California - 01-28-12
I recently started doing sports photography in Central California, after a game, I got home at about 9 pm, later I went outside to look to see if I saw something.
It was a very clear night with no clouds, and a warm 50 degrees. In the past three years I have had numerous UFO sightings, mostly at night.
I saw “It” coming from southeast, and thought it was an airplane or helicopter because of the flashing lights; I watched it as it was moving slowly towards me, I ran inside to get my camera.
It was so dark that my camera had problems focusing, so I manually focused and panned the lens, but most of the 26 pics I made in 2.5 minutes looked like street lights; there wasn’t really any good detail in most of the pics, it was interesting to have had an opportunity to get some shots though, but I sent one pic in.
I can only describe the object as having two big, orange lights; one on front and the other on the back, it was about the size of Venus, but the object seemed to be translucent; there were two smaller blinking white lights on top.
It made no noise as it flew about 2,000 feet above my head as it headed north.
But what I saw and what the camera picked up is really different. In the pics there are two big lights on the front sides and two small ones on the back sides.
The last orb I saw some months ago also came from the southwest and looked similar in color to this craft; this orb also headed north and made no sound, as well.
I used a Nikon D3000 camera set to S 125-250 f5.6 ISO 800 10.2 MP at 3 FPS. I used a
70-300 mm Nikkor ED AF-G VR lens zoomed at 300mm or to 9X, I made 26 pics from 21:22:54 to 21:24:34 hours, the date 28/01/2012 according to the camera’s info.
Become familiar with your camera’s capabilities and limitations before you point your camera at a real dark sky; I know it’s really difficult to photograph a pinpoint of light in a dark sky even with pro equipment.
As I got my camera, I changed about three settings to the camera before shooting. In daylight it’s a different story, so keep your eyes up and cameras ready.
