UFO Photo Fools WMFD Crew
Published: 4:11 PM 5/22/2013

Story By: Brian Skowronski

Tuesday evening, WMFD NewsWatch featured a story on Mansfield resident Tom Young's alleged photo of a UFO, taken early this year in March in San Carlos, California.

As it turns out, the photo appears to be the product of a Camera360 smartphone app that allows users to superimpose images, such as UFO's, into their photo's with little effort.

An online UFO news and investigative website called OpenMinds caught WMFD's story and informed the station that it had been the victim of a hoax.

The site also featured an article about the Camera360 app and how it has been fooling news agencies around the globe with manipulated images.

In light of this information, a WMFD news team visited Young at his home and asked about the photo potentially being a hoax. Young says he does have the Camera360 app and may have used it to take the photo, but swears he did not intentionally manipulate the image.

The WMFD news team downloaded the Camera360 app, along with others that manipulate images and were amazed how easy it was to superimpose objects like UFO's into their photo's.

It is also possible that Young, who has an outstanding reputation in the community, was simply unaware the UFO effect was enabled.

He says he would review his photo on the tablet it was taken on to see if the image was manipulated by the Camera360 app.
