I went outside at approximately 10 pm June 18, 2014 and looked up at the cloudless sky.
I saw a star-sized single unblinking white light coming from NW. It appeared to be very high in the sky because of its size. It was at about "10 o’clock in the sky" (or about 45 degrees.)
It was moving in a straight direction, but was moving in an s-curve, snake-like fashion. If I were to have held a ruler at arm's length to measure the pattern, it would have been a half-inch wide and half-inch diameter continuous s-curve.
It maintained that pattern as it crossed the sky -- first appearing over the mountains to the NW, and then disappearing over the "horizon" of the mountains to the SE.
The s-curve flight pattern never changed. It was consistent during its path across the sky, which I do not believe was an arc (it seemed like it was maintaining a consistent altitude.) I would estimate it took about 10 seconds to cross the sky.
Its speed was similar to an airplane. The "vehicle" did not seem to be out of control at all. My interpretation of the s-curve pattern was that it was intentional and fully under control. I say that because it was so consistent and precise.
At the time I saw it, I thought the "vehicle" was moving in a "cork-screw" fashion, which (because of my ground-level perspective) appeared to me as an s-curve. That's a very subjective interpretation.
This is simply an assumption on my part. I can only say with certainty that it appeared to be a "flat" s-curve pattern.
I had gone outside with the intention of looking at the star-filled sky. Where I live in Maryland, the city lights make for poor night-sky visibility.
I'm fascinated by the subject of UFOs, so as I looked up into the starry sky, I hoped to see one. I spotted this "vehicle" almost instantly.
There were no other witnesses. I had no camera, etc.
