REPORTS of strange lights in the sky over Dorking

By Dorking Advertiser

REPORTS of strange lights in the sky over Dorking have fuelled whispers that a UFO may have visited the town.

The mysterious red and blue lights were spotting in the sky over Wotton last night (SUN) at about 9 pm by Tony Little who saw them from his lounge in his house behind the Wotton Hatch Pub.

After initially believing the lights to be from a plane, which regularly take off near the location, Mr Little realised they weren’t moving and after taking a closer look became convinced he had just spotted an unidentified flying object.

“I was in the lounge watching TV and I saw it in the corner of my eye,” said the 74-year-old. “Initially I thought it was a plane and then I thought planes don’t have that colour and it was stationary in the sky for four or five seconds. I haven’t seen anything like it at all before.

“I’m used to seeing planes through the window when they’re taking off and I can usually see them. Last night I thought it was a plane at first but then I looked and it was clearly a different colour to the lights you see on a plane – it was an illuminous blue and red and it wasn’t moving like a plane.

“At first it was kind of hovering for a while and then it moved sharply to my left and disappeared behind some trees.”

Later that night Mr Little visited the Wotton Hatch Pub and told others what he was saw, only to discover that he hadn’t been the only one to notice the strange object.

He added: “I’m not one of those people who imagine things and when I was in the pub last night I mentioned what I’d seen and someone else said they’d seen the exact same thing.

“It was just a matter of four or five seconds, it was a bit like the end of ET when the space craft goes back and hovers and then goes back at speed, it was like that.

“It certainly wasn’t a plane, it was aluminous blue and red and it certainly wasn’t a conventional aircraft, I could tell by the way it was moving, even a helicopter couldn’t have manoeuvred like that. It went at an angle down below the tree line.”
