While passing through and visiting a friend for a brief time in Modesto,
CA., I witnessed a 'barbell' or dumbbell shaped object in the northern skies.
My friend had gone to the store at the time and I took advantage of the
free time to step outside in the backyard and stare at the stars (approximately
9: 00 PM).
There was no activity albeit one military jet traveling east to west about 4 miles away. I visually followed the jet as it was a clear night with the naked eye. Suddenly (about 9:15 PM) another craft/object appeared behind the military jet by about a half to a full mile above it. I ran inside and grabbed my camcorder and tripod and was recording this object by 9:17 PM and continued recording it until it was lost by some trees in the neighbors backyard. The object had no FAA lights that strobed or blinked (as did the jet ahead of it). The lights on the craft/object were definitely bright with the light towards the rear being 70-90% brighter than the forward light. From my perspective and point of view only two lights were visible. Both lights appeared to be connected to a singular platform as there was no deviation between the two. The craft remained in a western trajectory heading towards the San Francisco area. Total recording time was about two and 3/4 minutes. A UFO researcher R David Anderson, http://www.ufobase.net that I've been in contact with regularly had also captured a barbell/dumbbell in May of 2004 also in Modesto CA., and graciously has allowed me to use his daylight photo capture for comparison and for use in this report.

Trajectory: Sudden appearance in the North at a 30 degree arc heading
towards the west
Distance: Perhaps 3-4 miles from the cameraperson

Equipment: Sony Camcorder 20x optical with 2x teleconvertor attachment.
Bogen Fluidhead tripod
Weather: Clear cloudless, mild wind to the east
Other Activity: One solitary military jet heading also to the west

Johnny Anonymous tells me that he captured video of a barbell shaped UFO. He lives only about 3 miles from me. He said that he sent the video to you. I have seen this barbell UFO and I have some pictures of it that I took last year, back in April. I remember that this UFO was moving at a steady pace and changed direction abruptly twice. An airplane would never have the capability to move the way this UFO moved, making 45 degree turns in less than a second.This UFO looks like a semi-circular sphere that is connected to a long cylinder. It was white and very brilliant in the sky. There was also a witness in Fallbrook, CA, that described this same UFO.
FALLBROOK – The witness was planting when he looked up at 4:11 PM, on May 1, 2005, and saw a white object shaped liked a barbell. It moving at a very slow speed for a large object and was about 15000-20000 feet up but made no noise.
The witness states, “I kept watching as it became a very, very bright light almost a bright silver, much bigger than the object was before. Then as it changed shape it seemed to just vanish. It seemed like it didn't disturb the air. Two years ago on April I saw the same type of craft in the same area that was just floating, until a military jet approached, then, it just vanished.
