Hi B J,
On Thanksgiving Day of this year (November 23, 2006) our family had gathered for a meal at Lake O' the Pines, Texas, about three miles from where I normally go to sky watch. After the meal I managed to work in a little time to go outside and look at the sky, having a hunch that a major holiday might be conducive to seeing something strange in the sky. This was at an area where we had gathered on Christmas Eve of 2005 and I had gotten a picture of a red colored disc, and I wasn't disappointed this time. This picture was taken at 2:40 PM. The wind was variable to 5 MPH and from various directions. Temperature was in the low 70's and there were buzzards and butterflies everywhere, but the ones in my pictures looked just like what they were. My camera is a Canon S2 IS (5 Mp) with a teleconverter lens for an effective 18X optical zoom, and the focus was locked on infinity. I was facing the east-southeast when taking this photo of the sky. I took about 500 pictures of the sky, and this was the only picture that had anything "unidentifiable" in it, if one can call it that. It is of note that the object was so distant that the naked eye would not be able to see it, and it was so small in my camera's viewfinder I would only be able to see it if I knew where to look. Once on the computer screen, though, it wasn't too hard to spot. Best Regards, Darron
