UFO Alert: Police Officer Sees Aliens at Crop Circle
Published: 11:36AM BST 20 Oct 2009
A police officer contacted British UFO experts after seeing three aliens examining a freshly made crop circle near Avebury, Wiltshire.
By Alastair Jamieson
The sergeant, who has not been named, was off-duty when he saw the figures standing in a field near Silbury Hill, and stopped his car to investigate.
However, as he approached the 'men' – all over 6ft tall with blond hair – he heard "the sound of static electricity" and the trio ran away ''faster than any man he had ever seen''.
The officer returned to his home in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and contacted paranormal experts and told them he had spotted a UFO.
Wiltshire Police has refused to comment on the incident, saying it is a ''personal matter'' for the officer involved.
Crop circle researcher Andrew Russell, who is investigating the bizarre sighting on behalf of the officer, described the moment his sighting was made.
He said: ''At first he thought they were forensic officers as they were dressed in white coveralls. He stopped his car and approached the field.
''The figures were all over 6ft and had blond hair. They seemed to be inspecting the crop. When he got to the edge of the field he heard what he believed to be a sound not dissimilar to static electricity.
''This crackling noise seemed to be running through the field and the crop was moving gently, close to where the noise was. ''He shouted to the figures who, at first, ignored him, not glancing at him. When he tried to enter the field they looked up and began running. ''He said; 'They ran faster than any man I have ever seen. I'm no slouch but they were moving so fast. I looked away for a second and when I looked back they were gone. ''I then got scared. The noise was still around but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the rest of the day I had a pounding headache I couldn't shift.''
The bizarre incident occurred on the morning of July 6 this year as the police officer was driving.
The officer claims the three figures were examining a crop circle, which had appeared several days earlier, when he stopped his car and began walking towards them.
However, the mysterious beings disappeared when he ''looked away for a second'' and he contacted UFO experts after witnessing other paranormal activity.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: ''The police officer was apparently off duty when this happened so we have no comment to make because it is a personal not a police matter.''
Crop circle expert Colin Andrews, who investigated the incident alongside Andrew Russell, said he is ''convinced'' by the police officer's story.
He said: ''I am quite convinced the officer had an experience that day and one that we have not fully explored. ''I think with the unusual movement of the being and the poltergeist experiences there is too much additional information to say that is something in nothing.''
He was tall, handsome and well-dressed. A working class hero, Sir Eric Gairy was fondly remembered for his legendary political career (”Gairyism”) in Grenada, but outside his insular nation, he was better known for his obsession with UFOs.
Gairy spent much of his tiny country’s resources investigating the reason why Grenada was a favorite landing point for flying saucers.
De facto ruler of Grenada since 1950, he led his nation to Independence from Britain in 1974; however his erratic administration provoked a group led by British-trained lawyer Maurice Bishop called the New Jewel Movement (NJM) to lead demonstrations against him.
Gairy responded to the NJM by summoning his paramilitary unit, the “Mongoose Gang” to apply strong-armed methods often compared to Duvalier of Haiti’s “Ton-Ton Macoute”.
Gairy was convinced that mankind was threatened by extra-terrestrials arriving in flying saucers. He repeatedly called for a special group within the UN to investigate UFOs. The fact that the then-UN secretary general was a fellow UFO enthusiast Kurt Waldheim facilitated his proposal.
In 1979, in Miami an ad hoc conference of UFO experts under the UN auspices was held. Attending were Gairy, Waldheim, and a trio of high profile ufologists who actively supported Gairy: Hungarian military scientist Col. von Keviczk; American astronomer Dr. Josef Allen Hynek and French computer scientist Jacques Vallee.
The photo below was taken at the Miami Conference.
From left to right: American astronaut Gordon Cooper, Vallee, French space scientist Claude Poher, Hynek, Gairy seat to the right of Sec. Gen. Waldheim.
It was at this meeting that a bloodless coup by the NJM put Maurice Bishop in power in Grenada and ousted Gairy. With the ouster of Gairy, the UFO talks stopped.
After the coup Gairy remained in the United States, returning in 1984, a few months after the Bishop regime self-destructed. His party never won another election and he himself was defeated at the polls. He became Sir Gairy in 1976 and was affectionately known as “uncle” by the people of Grenada.
People were stunned last week when a university student claimed to have photographed a flying saucer in the skies over Blok M in South Jakarta.
Maulana Ibrahim Rau said he had intended to take a photograph of an apartment complex, but when inspecting the photograph on his digital camera later, it showed what appeared to be a small flying saucer to the right of the screen.
Nur Agustinus, 43, one of the founders of Beta-UFO, a community established in October 1997 to investigate UFO sightings in Indonesia, was suspicious of the photograph.
“I knew the picture was a hoax the first time I saw it,” he said.
He thought he had seen that UFO before, and when he went back and looked over his records, he noticed a strong resemblance to a photo of a “flying saucer” on the Web site of a UFO community in the United States. Maulana later admitted on his blog that his picture was a fake and had been intended as a joke.
“Many people make claims that they have seen flying saucers and aliens,” Nur said. “But with today’s technology, pictures and videos can be easily manipulated.”
Muhammad Irfan, 21, the director of a similar community called Ufonesia, also doubted Maulana’s initial claim and was sad it turned out to be a hoax. “I hope Maulana won’t do something like this again,” he said.
Both Nur and Irfan say they have been fascinated by UFOs, aliens and associated phenomena for a long time.
Nur has a degree in psychology, but what he enjoys most is hunting UFOs, although he has never seen one, or an alien for that matter.
“I believe that we’re not the only ones [in the universe],” he said.
His interest in extraterrestrials started back in the 1970s when he first came across tales of natural mysteries linked to astronomy and the wider universe.
“When I was a kid I always liked to look up at the sky and all the stars,” Nur said.
So, together with friends who shared the same interest, he founded Beta-UFO (Beta stands for Benda Terbang Aneh, or Unusual Flying Objects) to investigate reports and document alleged UFO sightings in Indonesia.
Beta-UFO claims to be the largest UFO community in Indonesia.
“Our missions are the documentation, investigation, research, public education and scientific study of UFOs for the benefit of humanity. We collect and investigate claims of alleged UFO sightings in Indonesia,” Nur said.
The group has a mailing list of 1,000 and 80 to 100 active members, who meet once a year in Jakarta for an annual gathering. At other times they share information and news through the group’s Web site, as well as investigating reported UFO sightings.
“We have a special group of UFO hunters,” Nur said. The group sets up camp at spots where many reports of UFOs have originated.
“They’ll stay for several days with their cameras and video recorders ready in case a UFO appears,” Nur said.
“During the 1950s and 1960s, there were many reports of UFOs from eastern Indonesia. But now the reports come from all over Indonesia, with most coming from Jakarta, Bandung and Cirebon.”
Irfan established his community, Ufonesia, in January 2008, with the intention of uniting young Indonesians who shared an enthusiasm for UFOs and aliens. His interest began in December 2005 when he himself saw what he believed to be an alien spacecraft.
“Before, I was a bit skeptical. But after I saw it with my own eyes, I now believe that flying saucers and aliens do exist,” he said.
Irfan said his sighting occurred at 1 a.m. as he was preparing to go out. He looked up at the sky, which was gloomy and reddish, as if it were going to rain. A few seconds later, he said, a bright light emerged from the clouds. At first he thought it was moonlight, but he then realized it was something more. The light stayed still for a few seconds, then it took off at great speed.
“I don’t believe that God has created this huge universe only for humans,” he said.
Nur tells of an alien encounter that allegedly occurred in July 1959 in Alor, East Nusa Tenggara. A police officer named Alwi Alnadad reported seeing six aliens dressed in blue clothes and black boots and carrying gray cylindrical rods. All had wavy white hair and some also wore beards. Alwi reported that a 6-year-old boy was abducted by the aliens and later released in the middle of a farmyard.
Nur and fellow members of Beta-UFO believe the policeman’s story.
Nur said he was aware that many people might consider him delusional for his beliefs. He said it was particularly difficult to convince others that extraterrestrials exist because he had never seen proof of aliens himself.
Irfan said he was also judged negatively for his beliefs. “But I don’t care,” he said. There will be a time when people see UFOs and aliens with their own eyes. When that time comes, they’ll be the ones who are embarrassed.”
Dr. Dhani Herdiwijaya, a former director of Bosscha Observatory in Bandung and former chairman of the Astronomy Department at the Bandung Institute of Technology, said: “Flying saucers and aliens don’t exist. At least we don’t have any proof to back up people’s claims.”
He said that one of NASA’s missions was to find another planet that was capable of supporting life.
“So far, they haven’t been able to do so,” he said.
But Nur and Irfan believe that we already have enough evidence of sentient life elsewhere.
“Some foreign governments have declassified their documents relating to UFOs and aliens,” Nur said.
There have been a number of reports on recent UFOs seen, photographed, and videotaped over Niagara Falls, NY. Here is one with a photograph and short news video.
Niagara Falls, NY (WKBW) -- The Internet is home to all sorts of media, ideas and planes of thought.
One of the most heavily discussed topics on-line is that of the paranormal and UFOs. There are plenty of places for the UFO enthusiast to get their fix on the web, and that's where we found video of what looks like a UFO hovering over Niagara Falls on Monday night.

Near Vicksburg, Michigan; March 31, 1966-Disc-Shaped Object
Early on the morning of March 31, Jeno Udvardy, a 1956 Hungarian refugee, was driving home from a late work shift near Vicksburg, Michigan. When he reached the crest of a hill he saw a cluster of lights on the road ahead which he assumed was an ambulance at an accident. He slowed and approached cautiously.
When within about 10 feet of the lights, he suddenly realized that they were not on any recognizable vehicle. Instead they were seen to be on a disc-shaped object hovering a few feet above the road and blocking his passage.
Brilliant lights from the object, some steady and some blinking, concealed some details of the object. (See sketch). Udvardy became frightened and tried to back away from the strange object. At that moment his car was buffeted violently as if by strong gusts of wind.
Then he saw what he first thought was another object hovering behind his car, but a quick glance ahead slowed that the object was no longer on the road ahead. Apparently it had darted overhead and taken a new position behind him. The same pattern of lights was visible on the object.
Udvardy then realized that his motor had stalled. (It is not known whether this was due to electro-magnetic interference as reported in many cases, but he could easily have stalled the car in the excitement of the moment). He rolled down his window and looked out.
For the first time he heard a low humming sound like a swarm of bees. Moments later, the UFO rose abruptly and sped off at a steep angle, disappearing in the eastern sky.
Having experienced Communist terrorism and other violence in his native country, Udvardy told the NICAP investigator, he did not scare easily. But this encounter with something unknown had shaken him. The incident probably lasted less than a minute, but, for many minutes Udvardy sat in the car regaining his composure before he was able to drive home.
At his wife's urging he reported the experience to the Kalamazoo Sheriff's office. He later became somewhat bitter over the ridicule his report evoked. However, he stuck to his story in the face of skepticism though he had nothing to gain from it.

California - Venus / Moon-Looking Object
10-03-09 - Driving west on Fruitridge Rd and turning left onto Freeport Blvd going south, I noticed a bright, white, round object right at about eye level 3 o'clock. It was in the distance, and I was thinking, "Is that the moon or Venus?"
1/4 mile or less down Freeport Blvd is the slightest rise, at 35th Ave is a 3 way stop light. I was waiting on the red light with no cars in front of me. The object was now at 2 o'clock, it was dime-sized with a round, pencil-size eraser with a bright, white light.
There were heat waves all around the circle. The object finally became blurry, changing from bright white to orange. Object seemed about 40' or 50' in the air. I looked away to see if the light changed and it was gone. source: www.mufon.com
Ohio - Orange Object, White Lights
10-21-09 - This evening I decided to go out on deck in my backyard to look at the stars. I do this all the time. Tonight I saw something strange, and its been a long time since I have seen anything strange in the sky.
I saw a bright orange light emerge from behind the trees. It had two white lights on its sides, maybe on the fuselage or something. As I watched this fly over, and it did something that surprised me. Suddenly its lights turned off for about a second, and it lights back up again, but with a whole new light patten that looks similar to any regular airplane flying over.
I went in the house to tell my husband what I saw, of course he looks at me like I am a freak. I go back outside to watch some more and to my surprise I see another orange light (same as the other) coming over the trees and this time I yell for my husband, and of course he doesn't come.
Then can you believe it... the orange light goes out and all I see is a red and white blinking light in the distance. This time it seemed to change much sooner then the other one. The first one was closer when the light went out and then changed.
I live in the country, and I see planes fly over all the time, this is something I never see. Is this normal behavior of an airplane? Can an airplane change its light pattern in the middle of a flight, and does what I described seem normal? Could this have been a UFO? source: www.mufon.com
Texas - Black Object
10-21-09 - I was finishing my lunch at Boston Market off of Westhiemer / Hilcroft. I was on my way back to the office, but I happened to look up and saw a black object that seemed to hover below the cloud cover at about the same altitude that helicopters fly.
The object seemed to move in a northwesterly direction until it seemed to move straight up over the period of about 3 minutes, and it penetrated the cloud cover until it was out of sight. I had to get back to my office on Stoney Brook and the Westpark tollway by 1:30 PM, so I didn't get to stick around to watch for it further. source: www.mufon.com
Australia - Bright, Crimson Object
10-16-09 - I was sleeping soundly on the night of October 15, at about 9:30 PM. I woke up and I noticed through the window a pulsating, big, bright crimson-coloured light moving lowly and slowly in straight direction from southeast towards northwest, going towards Richmond.
This kind of light I have never seen before in the sky, it was much bigger than the polar star and while pulsating it was three four times bigger, as I was inside the house with closed windows I could not hear any sound. I kept looking at it though I was feeling pressure to go to ,I couldn't hold on and went when I came back it was still going slowly,at that sleep, I checked the time it was 1:35 AM.
I could still see it faintly at a distance and it looked faint orange colour. As my wife was sleeping soundly, I did not wake her up. In my life I have not seen this type of flying light, I am not sure what it was, but it was not common and night time there are no low- flying aircraft.
After this I kept sitting and looking out, but nothing happened for about two hours and then I fell asleep. I tried to report straight away on phone, but somehow it got delayed and now I feel I must report it as it's not normal. source: www.mufon.com
