Blackstock, SC (approximately 11 miles from Winnsboro, SC) - October 1996 - 6:15 PM-I was running my usual 2 miles around our large circular driveway. My 11 yr old son and our 2 dogs were playing in the yard. When the "blue-white" bright lights came on, I stopped and yelled over to my son to look across the pasture and into the trees.
My son and I watched this object as it rose up (it was dusk) from over a large pond behind our house in the woods (approximately 25-30 seconds of viewing). How can "something" the length of a football field rise up - stop in the treetops - then dart off into the sky without a whisper? We were in the yard well before dusk. We didn't see anything land. By the way, there's nothing back there but cows and a pond - no house - no barn - no farming - no air strip - no crop dusting - not even a road leading back there. We are in the "sticks" - closest town is 11 miles away. Anyone reported this type of sighting before? And of that size? Jo Thanks to Jo for sending in report.
