This video has caused quite a stir around the Net. Immediately, naysayers simply dismissed the object in question as the Goodyear or other blimp.

It is true that NBC has contracted Goodyear to use their blimp to cover parts of the Olympics. There is no way to know at this point, how many millions of people watched the opening ceremony, which is one of the highlights of the games, and saw the unknown object above the display.

I have received several emails telling me that the object was in fact the Goodyear Blimp. I asked them if they had seen this confirmed by any news source; so far, no one has.

So, at least for the time being, the object in question has not been definitively named. I looked at a number of videos of the Goodyear Blimp, and found a couple that were filmed at night to make a comparative video.

Now, keep in mind that the video below shows the Olympic object and the blimp in two, totally different venues, but we can still get a close look at how the two appear side by side.
