Object of Many Colors Witnessed over San Diego, California

UFO Depiction

I'd estimate 10-50 points of light illuminated at any one time...

San Diego, California - 01-05-14

I was lying in bed when I decided to look out the window, as I do most nights. One set of lights caught my attention; at first I thought it was a passenger plane, but after a minute I realized the object was stationary, or nearly so.

I watched what appeared to be a geometric, spherical arrangement of lights change color, flash, pulse off and on.

Occasionally the object seemed to move, but it was weird; it moved as if attached to a tether at its top most point, much like a tetherball.

After a few minutes, I saw an actual passenger jet flying northwest to southeast, and could then compare the two objects.

This verified that the first object was not a plane. I went outside to make sure I wasn't just seeing a reflection on my bedroom window. The object was still there.

(The lights, I'd estimate 10-50 points of light illuminated at any one time) moved, morphed, and gave the object the appearance of splitting into 2 objects from time to time, only to merge back together.

The best explanation I can give of the UFO's appearance is that it looked a bit like a giant LED disco ball, with its movements and it's lights pulsing very organically.

It looked, for lack of a better word, alive, nothing at all like the blinking of a video game arcade or advertising display. After about 20 minutes of watching the object, I finally made up my mind and went to sleep.
