The witness was on Liberty Island when he snapped the odd shape...

SHOCKING images showing a strange cassette-shaped unidentified flying object are being examined by specialist researchers.
The Mutual UFO Network, MUFON, which logs and investigates sightings of suspected alien craft across the globe, has been sent stills taken by an amateur photographer, which show the unusual sight which he did not notice while snapping the famous New York landmark.
The unnamed witness said in a report to MUFON investigators: "I was on the base of the Statue of Liberty taking pictures of New York.
"The skies were clear and it was cold.
"I used two different cameras to take pictures."
The man did not see the object until he looked at the pictures.
"When reviewing the pictures back at the hotel I observed a large cassette-like object hovering over the bay and city.
"Every other picture I noticed the object getting further and further from me."
But he said he has been oblivious to anything in the sky at the time, adding: "At the moment of taking the pictures nothing was observed.
"There were no parachutes, no airplanes, or any other activities, other then the police patrolling the bay."
MUFON, which has recorded the sighting as happening on October 25, lists the case as unresolved.
Although it has yet to be established what the object may be, photo experts are sceptical of so-called UFOs in pictures when nothing was seen while the image was captured.
They argue it is likely to be an internal camera fault, smudge on the lens, a lens flare caused by sunlight, or something like an insect flying past close to the lens.
