UFO Sightings on the Rise? (NUFORC)
Published: 12:49 AM 1/13/2012

LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) says more than 1,000 new reports of UFO sightings have been received since October 25, 2011.

A large number of reports have flooded in just this year, with increased sightings in 36 of the 50 states. Over a hundred sightings were logged by NUFORC on New Year's Eve with 13 sightings reported in Florida.

On December 11, 2011 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, three people see an estimated 8 orange objects pass from south to north in the night sky, covering approximately 60 degrees of arc in an estimated five minutes. Two more lights appeared shortly after the first group had disappeared, and followed approximately the same path as the first group had followed.

Almost a full month earlier in Berlin, Wisconsin, a woman driving home from work encountered a car stopped on a rural highway. She drives past the other vehicle slowly, rounds the next curve, and then witnesses a bizarre curved row of quadrilateral lights ahead of her.

The lights appear to be moving away from her position, and then they suddenly begin to disappear from her sight, as if a curtain is being drawn over them.

NUFORC staff members have posted hundreds of reports similar to these on their website , following what they say has been a "Herculean session of proof-reading."

FOX 35 spoke with Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, to find out what's behind the increased number of sightings.

Two UFO Reports from Washington State
UFO Depiction
Published: 3:49 AM 1/12/2012

Washington State - 01-11-12

Report 1

It was me and my daughter in the car, driving Northbound I-5 through a darkened quarter between Ferndale and the Border when we noticed a bright, multi-colored light in the sky.

Its structure almost appeared as a screen, but also appeared as a cluster of 4 orbs but maintained formation.

Light and color passed across these orbs or screen without ever blinking off. It emitted colors of red, orange, bright blue, white, and green. Sometimes more than one color would appear at once.

We watched it get closer in the sky to us, almost hovering at the same altitude while moving across the sky. I've never seen anything like this, and we have a lot of aircraft flying around patrolling the border.

This was NOT a Canadian/US border patrol or a plane. The only thing similar I've ever seen to it was on "UFO's Best Evidence Ever Caught."

There has been a lot of weird lights around her lately... I don't know what to think about a lot of them.

Report 2

I was on my way to McDonalds on Fourth Plain, traveling west, around 10:00 PM.

Traveling on Davis Road, I looked out of my window (front) and noticed above the tree line a orange orb sitting there. It wasn't moving or doing anything strange.

At first I thought it was a shop light from someone's house until it started to pulse and then it seemed to change (in an explosive way) into a much larger orb.

I've never seen anything so large in my life.

At first I was amazed then a strong sense of fear set in. I was staring at it and a house got in my visual sight and when I passed the house it was gone.

1986 - Missing Time in Turnersville, New Jersey Encounter
UFO Depiction
Published: 4:32 PM 1/3/2012

Turnersville, New Jersey - 10-01-86

I was driving toward the shore on the north-south highway in New Jersey, approaching the Atlantic City Expressway.

I saw a large triangle in the sky nearly overhead, it didn't appear to be moving, as I got nearly under it (though it was a little over to my left) I pulled over to see if I could identify it and take note of the details.

I was curious since it didn't appear to be moving and I'd never seen anything like it.

How was it staying up there? It was a triangle. It was large and there were 3 lights on the bottom of the craft at the corners, shining downwards.

The lights were constant and didn't change. I lowered my window to listen, but there was no sound and the craft didn't move. After maybe what seemed like 5 minutes, I decided it was probably associated with the Air Force base in New Jersey and I pulled back on the highway and proceeded to the shore house in Ocean City.

I have no idea how long it 'hovered' there after I drove away.

When I got home my husband asked me what I had been doing that I was an hour late. I had called him right before I left Philadelphia, so I guess I 'lost' approximately an hour of time.

I recently saw a couple of UFO programs on TV where picture of large triangles like the one I saw were shown and the one I saw was identical.

In the 90s I began to have trouble with my muscles and eventually participated in a study at University of Rochester where my ck levels (Creatine kinase) were again seen as elevated.

The info I got at the time was people like 'me' were being included in a study which was originally designed solely for myotonic dystrophy.

I apparently have a 'new' kind of muscular dystrophy and so do others in my family. Since that time, a gene has been found for some people in the study in 'my category,' though no gene has been found for mine that I know of, to date.

It was the show I saw on elevated ck levels that prompted me to make this contact with the account of what I saw.

This case is under investigation by Ed Dobson of MUFON New Jersey.

The 800 lb. UFO in the Living Room
UFO Depiction
Published: 1:23 AM 1/11/2012

written by Chris Holly

I must be living in a different dimension.

Maybe all my fellow humans are living in one time and space and I am in another. What else would explain the lack luster, yawn-type reaction to the massive UFO sightings reported, recorded and shown all over the internet that have gone by with about the same interest as a flock of birds flying over!

I was not only interested in the reports I was nervous and a bit frightened. For a few days I watched as videos and photos along with massive amounts of reports flooded in where huge crowds of people watched as strange red orbs hovered above New Year’s Eve celebrations across the world.

This was not a report by a handful of people at a drunken party on a dark beach - this was thousands of people worldwide reporting the same strange encounter.

I looked at the videos as they started to flood the internet. I posted a handful on my site. I was fascinated by the same looking object appearing all over the planet.

The object or objects would be in each time zone as that area brought in the New Year hovering clearly in areas where they had to be seen intentionally by those piloting them.

This was not a case of balloons, lanterns or helicopters; this was a case of bright red hovering orbs showing themselves on purpose that would take off at incredible speed straight into space after accomplishing what they intended to do. This was a planned, highly organized statement.

At first I thought we finally had a sighting that would silence the skeptics and join humanity in the knowledge that we are not alone and that UFOs are as real as the noses on our faces.

Finally I thought we may decide to handle this subject in a new light as seeing has to be believing. People all over the world could not be wrong.

Old year out, New Year in and TA-DA, a massive UFO sighting. How cool is that of our unknown visitors? How dumb are we not to get it?

The fact this massive worldwide sighting was so blatantly obvious immediately frightened me. I did fear that something very big and overpowering may be coming.

Knowing firsthand the power our visitors have over the human race I feared what may be coming. As the hours passed and we slipped into the year 2012 I felt relieved nothing dramatic or traumatic took place, besides the massive sighting that is.

As I watched the videos arrive from all over the world of similar sightings it did occur to me that 2012 may be a far more significant year than I had given it credit for being.

The idea did cross my mind that we may have all become lost in the theories and prophecies concerning 2012 ignoring the idea that it is the year we become heavily visited, or worse interfered with, by those who have been watching, visiting and abducting us from the beginning of time.

How can it be that now less than two weeks after this massive event of worldwide reports of thousands seeing the same red orbs that the subject seems lost and forgotten?

I do not find any great interest in the event. It did not hit the news media in any form. The paranormal world talked about it, however, it lost interest as quickly as every other article or story that hits the internet.

Now talk about strange; the fact we are ho-humming our way past this significant event is flabbergasting to me.

Talk about the 800 pound UFO that is sitting in your living room that everyone is ignoring! This huge event being shoved under the rug as quickly as it has can only be thought of as mind boggling. How is it so many spend all their time "seeking the truth or looking for disclosure” when this event has been gone by without much fanfare at all?

How can this be? I guess we have been well trained to simply sit with a head full of slush waiting for the next scary story.

I can only throw my hands up in the air in confusion and frustration. I have to stop fooling myself about what my fellow earthlings want to hear or know about the subject of Unidentified Objects or many other events or encounters considered high strangeness.

I have to accept the fact that we stay where we are with this subject on purpose and willingly. I would go a step further and say we do not know because at all cost we DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!

It is far easier and less frightening to stay lost in the fantasy of it all. An exciting nonrealistic story of aliens being seen as in the bar scene in the first 'Star Wars' movie is far easier to digest.

The reality of it being a far different, less cuddly and fuzzy outcome with very different perhaps colder more mechanical beings is just too difficult for mankind to handle. It is much safer and quickly hidden away where we do not have to deal with if we view aliens as jazz playing, happy go lucky, nice bar drinking buddies who all breathe the same air and eat and drink the same things.

All dressed in cut little garments it stays a nice way to deal with a very serious topic. It is the way our society deals with the subject.

Obviously when the real deal got far too close as it did over the past holiday season, we bailed. We let it slide by. We let the videos disappear and the entire massive worldwide report was quickly removed from our sight and minds. It is how we humans handle these things.

I am fortunate enough to be surrounded in my life by people who are aware of what is happening around and above us. I am fortunate enough to have contact with those who have had contact with the unknown and understand the serious consequences that can be involved with dealing with the unknown.

I am aware that our lives could be changed forever in the matter of a few hours or days when or if our visitors decide to become known or wanting of more from us then they already take.

For now I must sit and watch as society deals with the subjects of the unknown in what I consider a strange and delusional way. I imagine this will not be real to most until one of the unknown crafts or orbs reported daily all over the world simply land right in their front yards and the creatures piloting them knock firmly on their front doors.

Until then it will remain a good paranormal story they viewed along with all the others on their favorite spooky site!

All I can do is warn you that it is time to take the blinders off and start to pay attention to what is going on around, above and to you each and every day. I will go to my next life experience knowing I did all I could to try to shake my fellow humans awake when it came to things considered unknown.

Clearly they will remain unknown as that is exactly how we want it to be.

Two Witnesses See Unknown Object over California
UFO Depiction
Published: 12:25 AM 1/7/2012

California - 01-05-12

I finished watching a TV program, and I had an impulse to go outside and look towards the east into a clear night sky while looking at the stars.

This was highly unusual since I had not done so for quite a long time.

I noticed one particular light that did not appear as a star in a usual way. Looking at it, it was pulsating multiple colors, orb-like and somewhat bigger than the surrounding stars.

It did not move as I was looking at it. It was also lower in the sky that the other stars in that view of the sky. I then went inside for binoculars, 7x35mm, to get a better look and asked my girlfriend to come outside for her impression and view of it, as well.

She saw it, looked through the binoculars, and observed the same as I did. The circular edges were fuzzy and it was an indistinct, orb shape, but the colors kept changing in an unnatural way.

These colors were brighter and deeper in color/range than a more natural, star-like manner. My reaction was that it was interesting, definitely a UFO to me and to her, but I was not able to spend more than about 10 minutes looking at it.

We went back inside. About 30 minutes later, I went outside again to see if the object still appeared or had moved. Not to my surprise, the object was nowhere in the sky and had disappeared.

Archived Case of the Week

The Yukon Territory Encounters, 1996 (Klondike Highway)
UFO 22+ Witnesses Observe a UFO Larger than a Football Stadium

Yukon Territory, Canada

Investigated by Martin Jasek, M.Sc., P. Eng.

The following is as brief a summary that could be made from a complex 22-witness event and still retain a good portion of the impact and scope of what had occurred. More detailed descriptions and vivid quotes from the witnesses can be found in the individual witness testimonies.

Event Summary

Witnesses FOX2 and FOX3 were driving together from Whitehorse to Carmacks in two separate vehicles. As they were travelling northbound on the Klondike Highway adjacent to Fox Lake, they spotted a huge UFO out over the frozen lake.

Fox Lake is on the west side of the highway. Both of them slammed on the brakes stopping about 570 metres (1870 ft) apart from each other. FOX2 got out of his vehicle for a better observation.

The UFO proceeded to slowly drift towards FOX2 and after a few minutes he found himself almost directly underneath the object! FOX3 continued to observe his cousin FOX2; both men were in complete awe!. The UFO continued to move slowly across the highway and out over the hill to the east and eventually disappeared behind it. Immediately after the sigthing, FOX3 noted that the time was 8:30 pm. Both FOX2 and FOX3 could discern that the lights were attached to a smooth and solid object.

At the very same time that FOX2 and FOX3 were observing the UFO move across the lake, FOX4 and FOX5 were approaching the southern tip of Fox Lake also heading northbound.

What they observed was a huge row, or rows, of lights slowly moving across the lake. There were other lights on and around the UFO as well. Their first thought was that it was a large truck in the distance, but it couldn’t be, it was out over the lake. Their next thought was that a Boeing 747 was crash landing. But that couldn’t be either, it was moving much too slowly to be an aircraft.

It took them about 2 seconds to process these thoughts when they realized that it must be a UFO! They got very concerned. They had a two-year-old son in the back seat and they were travelling towards this thing! After some debate they decided to continue their journey.

After all, they could no longer see the UFO as they approached a hill that obscured their view plus there was some traffic ahead of them. FOX5 looked at the car clock, it was 8:23 pm. None of the witnesses heard any sound coming from the object.

A few minutes later, when FOX4 and FOX5 were passing the Fox Lake campground, they passed by two vehicles that were pulled over with two men outside looking up at the sky. They turned around and pulled over to talk to them.

It was FOX2 and FOX3 carrying on a lively discussion, "What the ‘heck’ was that?" After a few minutes FOX4 and FOX5 left and eventually stopped at Braeburn Lodge about 34 km (21 miles) further up the highway. FOX4 walked into the lodge and said to Steve Watson, the lodge owner "Steve, I really need a coffee!" Steve replied "Oh, you must have seen what FOX1 saw?" In fact FOX4 recalled seeing FOX1 leaving Braeburn Lodge just as they got there.

About half an hour before the sighting described above (about 8:00 pm) FOX1 was driving along Fox Lake and had noticed a light in the distance which should not have been there. He did not think too much of it but as he got closer to the light, he could tell that it was illuminating a long smooth curved surface.

He then passed some traffic and after his eyes readjusted to the darkness, the curved surface and the light were gone. However, his eye caught a group of rectangular lights moving over and behind a hill to the east.

At this point he got an "exhilarating feeling" and sped up in order to reach a less obscured location in the valley so that he would have a chance to see the UFO again. He pulled over and got out of his vehicle but didn’t see anything more unusual. He continued his journey and pulled into Braeburn Lodge where he gave Steve a description of what he saw and also made drawings for him. FOX2 and FOX3 eventually pulled into Braeburn Lodge and gave their description to Steve as well.

There was also a 6th witness to the Fox Lake sighting but it is unclear what time she had driven through the area. FOX6 was driving in the vicinity of Fox Lake when she noticed a glow on her dashboard that could not be accounted for by the interior illumination of her vehicle.

She leaned forward to look up through her windshield and observed a large arrangement of multi colored lights. The interior lights in her car started to go dim and the music from her tape deck slowed down.

At around the same time, between 8:30 and 9:00 pm, the Village of Pelly Crossing (about a 2 hours drive to the north of Fox Lake) was experiencing its own truly incredible UFO sighting. PEL1 was tending his trapline northeast of Pelly when he observed in the distance to the southwest a long row of lights slowly moving over the hills. At first he thought it was a large aircraft coming down. But it was moving much too slowly.

"It’s a UFO!"

As he was walking his flashlight happened to point in the direction of the UFO. As if reacting to his flashlight, the UFO started speeding rapidly toward him.

He instinctively cupped the end of his flashlight. As soon as he completed this gesture, the UFO stopped in its track. In a matter of less than a second, it was hovering an estimated 300 yards (275 metres) in front of him! PEL1 had to turn his head from one side to the other to take it all in.

Again there was no sound at all coming from the object. A beam of light emanating from the bottom of the UFO swooped the ground once directly underneath the object. Was it a search beam? Looking for him? The UFO then drifted slowly to the right. There were other beams emanating from the craft as well; a greenish phosphorescent color beam shone horizontally out the front (right); two beams at the back (left) rotated slowly to a horizontal position.

All the beams could be seen clearly as there were ice crystals in the air. PEL1 turned away from the UFO momentarily and ran across a small clearing. When he turned back to look at it, it was gone.

At about the same time, PEL2 and PEL3 were travelling northbound just south of Pelly Crossing. To the north they spotted a huge row of lights slowly moving from left to right. They pulled over at a gravel pit just south of the Village to get a better look and got out of their vehicle. PEL2 noticed that the Big Dipper was just above the row of lights and compared the length of the lights to the width of the Big Dipper.

They were about the same length! This observation was very important since it established a well-referenced angular size of the UFO from PEL2 and PEL3’s perspective, important for a more accurate triangulation and calculation of UFO size.

The accounts of witnesses PEL1 through 3 were enough to complete a calculation of UFO size. The observations of witnesses PEL4, 5, 6 and 7 about the same time provided a second triangulation. The four women were taking an evening course at a small community college in Pelly Crossing (a satellite school of Yukon College).

They were out on a break on the front deck of the one story building looking towards the west when they too observed the row of lights. The row of lights was travelling slowly almost towards them and slightly towards the north. They recall the object being huge as well; there was no sound at all. It moved slowly over the hill to the north and disappeared behind it.

Then there was the UFO sighting near the Village of Carmacks seen by 9 witnesses. The UFO was observed by two groups of people. CRM1, 2, 3 and 4 were on the highway northbound in a pick-up truck just south of Carmacks; CRM5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 consisted of a husband, wife and their 3 children.

They were watching television when they spotted the row of lights out of their window.

The four men traveling together pulled over near the landfill at the southern edge of the Village to get a better look at the UFO. They watched the noiseless object move slowly to the northeast, curve around them to the south and head up a valley adjacent to the microwave tower south of the village where it just vanished.

At one point the UFO was partially obscured behind a nearby hill and one witness recalls the UFO slowly reappearing on the other side of it. He remembers waiting a long time for the last light to reappear from behind the hill; that’s how slow and large the object was!

The object took up about a 60 to 90 degree horizontal chunk of the sky. CRM1 recalls hearing about the Fox Lake UFO sighting on the radio the next day and surmised that they saw the UFO about an hour and a half earlier, about 7:00 pm.

The family is not exactly sure what time it was when they saw the UFO, just that it was in the evening. They observed the row of lights just to the northwest of them moving slowly to the northeast. The lights were just over the treeline and there was no noise at all.

The lights continued to move until they disappeared one by one behind what appeared to be an invisible wall. There was no mountain in that direction that could account for this. With the UFO sighting occurring just two weeks prior to Christmas, the three children thought that it was Santa Claus and his reindeer in the sky.

An estimate of the UFO size by triangulation was not possible for the Carmacks UFO sighting, as the geometry of the witness locations in relation to the UFO was less than ideal. Furthermore, it was unclear whether both the family and the group of four men in the truck observed the UFO at the same time. Perhaps the UFO made more than one pass by the Village that night.

There is also some evidence to suggest that this "sighting event" encompassed an even larger area as UFO reports were heard on CBC North radio the very next day mentioning sightings in the communities of Dawson, Mayo and Watson Lake.

No witnesses from these additional communities have thus far come forward or been identified.
