Secret Revealed behind Mysterious UFO over Kentucky
UFO Depiction
Published: 11:58 AM 8/17/2013

Submitted by Brenda McGregor

Residents of Pike County, Ky. witnessed a strange sight in the sky on 16 Oct. 2013. Amateur astronomer Allen Epling said to a local paper that it appeared like two fluorescent bulbs, side by side, parallel.

Epling said that it was clearly visible with the naked eye, and it went so bright that it seemed to have merged. It then dimmed down to go almost invisible.

According to him, it was not anything he has seen ever before in the sky. It was not certainly an airplane, and a helicopter never appeared like that.

Phone calls were made by the concerned citizens to police in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.

The UFO was estimated to have gone to the height of 60,000 feet. It was almost stationary at that altitude for hours.

The mystery has been unraveled by an article in Wired magazine. The mysterious craft was part of a Google-financed tech endeavor code, Project Loon.

"It was a test of Project Loon, a breathtakingly ambitious plan to bring the Internet to a huge swath of as-yet-unconnected humanity via thousands of solar-powered, high-pressure balloons floating some 60,000 feet above Earth", wrote Wired's Steven Levy.

According to Levy reports, the balloon was in the sky for 11 days before it reached Canada.

New York: Flying Saucers: the Classic UFO
UFO Depiction
Published: 3:19 PM 8/16/2013

By Cheryl Costa

A few weeks ago, when the Syracuse Nationals Car Show was in town, someone asked me: “Do people still see flying saucers?”

Taking the question seriously, I consulted with another New Yorker who’s a highly qualified UFO investigator. We discussed the question of the classic flying saucer. His answer amounted to simply, “Flying saucers are your granddad’s alien space craft.”

He told me that, for the most part, the huge black triangles have largely replaced the old classic disk.

Perhaps our unknown visitors make improvements and upgrade their transportation periodically, as we do; but that’s not the end of the story. While black triangles and other exotic shapes are the hot new craft buzzing about, there seems to be plenty of tried and true older models still out there in New York skies.

In a recent examination of UFO report archives, the data indicates that New Yorkers are still reporting sightings of flying saucers at a rate of about 25 to 30 per year.

The earliest records of flying disks in New York skies are from the 1950s. Here are a couple of older sightings recently recounted by the now elderly New Yorkers:

It was 1950, a crystal clear July night in upstate New York. A young couple was walking hand in hand, marveling at the beautiful night sky. They saw what they thought was a shooting star.

After a few seconds, the small point of light they were looking at suddenly got very close and very big. The object was hovering right overhead and was estimated to be several hundred feet across. The young couple was terrified.

Then, just as fast as it came, it accelerated away and was gone. They rushed home and told their parents. They were cautioned that people would think they were crazy and to not tell anyone.

On June 28, 1954, near New York City, some 16-year-olds were lieing on the hood of a car enjoying a clear, starry summer’s night. Suddenly, they observed a V formation of seven bright yellowish discs flying eastward very fast.

The formation seemed to stop high above them and remained motionless. After a few minutes, two objects peeled off from the seven and flew north.

Then another darted off to the south. Minutes later, the three objects returned and rejoined the V formation, which then left the area at tremendous speed.

The most recent sighting of a flying disk was reported by multiple observers near Rome on Aug. 5.

A man, his wife and a few friends were enjoying a clear summer’s night on the porch. Suddenly, they saw something odd in the sky.

It was disk shaped and flew in odd but controlled patterns and came closer and closer. His wife grabbed the family’s video camera.

They report that the huge, disk-shaped object was very bright and eventually flew near their house and silently hovered over it.

The man reports that he, his wife and their friends are, without a doubt, believers.

Flying Object Caught on Ontario, Canada Photograph
UFO - Ontario, Canada
Published: 3:09 PM 8/16/2013

Cambridge, Ontario, Canada - 06-12-13

My wife and I were sitting out on out backyard deck in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, June 12 2013 at 4:46 in the afternoon looking towards the NNW direction when I spotted what I thought was a Hot Air Balloon floating in the sky about 1 (guessing) mile away.

There were no clouds in a bright blue sky, so the objects were highly visible. I took a picture thinking nothing of it until later when I noticed that it did not look like a balloon at all, and then I noticed the cylindrical object to the left of it, just out of focus.

It was hovering as described and moving very slowly left to right then went behind the tree you can see in the picture. I said to my wife, "I'll wait until it comes out the other side of the tree," but it never did.

If you zoom in, you can see (the left object) it's cylindrical and appears to have extensions protruding out the end.

This is an unedited photo taken with my Canon G10 at 5megapixels. I kick myself now because I dialed the file size down to 5 to fit more pictures on the card and lost much detail doing that.

Everyone I've shown this to admits it's a UFO and does not look like anything else as far as I'm concerned.

As for the object to the left, I've seen TV coverage on some (UFO Hunters) programs that shows similar objects in some episodes.

I have never seen 2 separate objects in any UFO pictures ever and think this is quite unique as though the round object came from the cylindrical object.

Unknown Object Moves at Incredible Speed over Pennsylvania
UFO Depiction
Published: 5:21 PM 8/16/2013

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - 08-14-13

I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone in Florida while watching the Persied meteor shower which I watch every year.

This thing which I first thought to be a shooting star, dropped from space and it looked just like a meteor, but then is when the craziness happened.

The meteor, or so I thought, never dimmed and disappeared but hovered for 1 - 2 seconds and took a straight path from the northwest to the northeast.

I’m not 100% on the direction of northeast because I just moved here and am a little disoriented with north, south, east and west.

I just moved from Florida, so it will take some time. The object in question was a bright white, almost star-like. It went from 0 to the ridiculous speed so quick...

It was the most amazing, yet scary thing I have ever seen. The rate at which it accelerated was insane. It didn’t fly across the sky, I would say it floated because the way it was moving.

Every single night I lie outside and stargaze. I know what a jet, helicopter, satellite etc. look like, and how they move along with military aircraft as I was in the army for about 2 years till I was injured.

I also have an app that tells satellites overhead by GPS fix. There were no satellites around at the time.

I saw probably 6 satellites after that, and they did not fall from the sky like a shooting star, stop, and haul ass. Please if there is something besides a UFO that can do that, let me know.

I lost sight of the UFO after my view was obstructed by trees and buildings. My cell reception was cutting in and out while I saw it, and my girlfriend said, "What the hell did I just see?"

I am 100% POSITIVE that what I saw was nothing man-made from this earth; it was definitely of ET origin. I don’t know what else to say, this happened a little bit ago and I have not been able to find the words to describe what I saw till now.

Thanks for your time and I hope to get a response from you because I know what I saw and I know it was UFO NOT OF THIS WORLD!

1969 - Pilots Report 7 Yellow Spheres at Pori Airport, Finland
UFO Depiction
Published: 7:55 AM 8/13/2013

Location: Pori airport, Finland

Date: April 12, 1969

Pori, a city on the southwestern coast of Finland, has an airfield used by both civilian and military airplanes. On April 12, 1969, the Finnish Air Force was holding a training camp there.

About 20 pilots observed 7 yellow spheres appearing in the sky and hovering above the field.

Around noon that day, FAF pilot Jouko Kuronen and his co-pilot were setting out on a routine navigational flight. The weather was clear and sunny. At ground level there was a only a light breeze, but at 3000 m altitude a strong northerly wind prevailed, measured at 185 km/h.

As directed by flight control, Kuronen taxied onto the runway to await permission for takeoff. While engaged in this he happened to overhear a radio communication between the controller of the Fouga Magister training jets concurrently doing target practice, and fighter pilot Tarmo Tukeva, who was just about to go into a bombing dive maneuver.

"Attention 286, interrupt and go check on those seven or so balloons above you."

"Okay, interrupting - circling around towards them from my right."

"Objects stationary right here above the field - might be at about 1500-3000 meters - looks like there's seven of them."

"Okay - beginning climb now."

While listening in on the radio traffic Kuronen put his own jet through a turn on the runway so as to get a view of these "balloons." Sure enough, he could now see a group of seven yellow, sphere - or disc-shaped objects sitting still above the airfield, as if observing it.

Then he saw Tukeva's Fouga jet approaching the objects and heard radio traffic picking up again. First flight control, then immediately afterwards the radar center, announced they had positive visual contact with the objects.

As instructed, Tukeva had turned his jet back towards the airport to investigate the situation. When the objects came into his sight he reported them to be a pale yellow, generally round in shape, yet somewhat blurry and indistinct in outline.

He was unable to estimate their distance for lack of reference points while climbing.

Then came a surprising turn of events. Abruptly, the spheres arranged themselves into formation and shot off towards the north with rapidly accelerating speed.

They were flying against the strong north wind, which did not seem to affect them in any way.

"You're not going to catch up with them anymore," the controller advised Tukeva, "they're disappearing northwards."

And in fact, the "balloons" had gained such speed that the jet trailing them at 700 km/h was left standing. The incredible careering of these objects is illustrated by the fact that within a minute they were again spotted on radar at Vaasa airport - almost 200 kilometers farther north.

Jouko Kuronen later became head of Lappeenranta airport and has discussed the case many times in public. Tarmo Tukeva described the objects he was chasing in the international TV production "Visitors from the Skies" (1992).

One fortuitous circumstance in this case was that the observations of the witnesses could be confirmed by what was at the time state-of-the-art technical equipment.

This made it possible to eliminate the most common misinterpretations, such as planes, weather balloons and optical illusions.

Still, the "balloons" have remained unexplained, and this UFO case is the only one ever to have been officially acknowledged as such by the Finnish Air Force.

COMMENT: There are several versions of this report, but Tarmo Tukeva (now deceased) is on record as standing firmly by his own account. As a career military man, he was a "right stuff", no-nonsense personality, certainly not given to confabulation.

Hev also related the story to his son, who has confirmed that he heard it directly from his father. What has been contested is mainly the subsequent radar report from Vaasa.

Thanks to J. Borg for the info and translation.
