Unknown Flying Object Photographed over Laredo, Texas
UFO Depiction
Published: 4:32 AM 11/23/2013

Laredo, Texas - 11-18-13

I was with my parents and we were going home. My mom was the one who saw the object first and told us, so we reversed or direction, and then it took off.

This was something weird. It was definitely not a plane. It was kind of scary.

It was a triangle-shaped dark black with lots of lights right on top of a football field with football field lights on.

I was freaking out, but somewhat excited because I had never seen anything like it before.

Finally, it took off going north bound and left the area pretty fast.

Photograph taken with Samsung SPH-L710.

1988 - Enormous Unknown Craft Witnessed over New York; Electromagnetic Effects
UFO Depiction
Published: 2:15 AM 11/21/2013

Westtown, New York - 09-12-88

I was working at a TV commercial film shoot. We were last to wrap the location to head back to the Holiday Inn in Middletown; about a 20 minute drive.

There was the truck of electricians who had left 5 minutes ahead of us. We were in a van of other various film crew departments. There were about 10 of us in the van.

It was still light out, but the sun was getting lower. As we drive on City Rd. 12, we looked out the van window at about 11 o'clock in the sky; there was a pink-orange object that a few of us said at the same time, "What is that?"

As we drove it was getting closer. At first we could not really make out what it was, but we all agreed it was not a plane or anything else we had ever seen.

It slowly got bigger and bigger, and it was getting darker and darker as the sun was setting. We kept looking at it as it was really getting bigger and bigger and we were all freaking out, but at some point the road turns and there was a lot of tree cover, so we could not see it.

Then at a small turn in the road, there stopped in the middle of the road were the electricians, their truck stopped in the middle of the road and they were out of their truck standing in the middle of the road looking up.

We stopped and got out and there above us was this unbelievable enormous ship hovering quietly right at the tree line. The circumference was different colored lights that changed color, but not in a pattern, they just changed colors; pink, orange, blue and yellow.

We huddled together gazing up for about 5 minutes. And then in a second it pulled away, without a sound and incredibly fast.

The electricians told us their truck had stopped. When it was gone, the truck started again. We got to the hotel, told everyone else on the crew - they just thought we were nuts.

But it was in the paper the next morning as a crowd in the parking lot of the local supermarket had also seen it.

I still talk occasionally to a few of my fellow witnesses and we are still freaked out, because it was so completely unmistakably huge, so close and so real.

I have told other people in my life and I am afraid it really has had deleterious effect on my credibility. So I just don’t tell people anymore, but it has left a huge mark on my life and on how I see our place in the universe; I think in a very good way. It really forces you into a bigger perspective!

UFO Spotted in Sky over Ware
UFO Depiction
Published: 8:27 AM 11/18/2013

AN unusual object has been spotted in the sky near Ware.

Ann Yates, who lives in Ware, said she had spotted the fluorescent oval-shaped object on Thursday while stargazing. Mrs Yates said the object had been to the south of the town at around 5.30 pm to 6pm.

She said: "I was stargazing and taking photos of the moon and to the south of Ware there was an object in the sky and it was there for some time."

The sighting is not the first of its kind in the county.

Last month, the Mercury revealed Herts police has logged 27 phone calls and front desk inquiries describing supposed UFO activity since 2009.

And in 2011, Cottered got caught up in a UFO debate after a disc-shaped object was spotted by BBC sports reporter Mike Sewell.

Mr Sewell had described seeing the strange sighting as he drove through the village on the A507 at around 4.50 am as he made his way to Stansted Airport to cover a football game in Sweden.

Did you witness the mystery object on Thursday? Let us know what you think it is on Twitter @HertsMercury.

Alien Abductions: Fact or Fiction?
UFO Depiction
Published: 2:21 AM 11/21/2013

By Sigrid Salucop

Alien abductions are a popular subject in films but in real life, a person allegedly abducted by aliens is rarely believed by the public.

While many do not believe in extraterrestrial life, the mystery of the unknown and the mystery of the universe itself keeps many, believers and non-believers alike, strangely attracted to stories of UFOs and alien beings.

According to Live Science, thousands or even millions of Americans claim that they were abducted by aliens and most of these "abductees" had traumatic experiences. Psychologists say however, that the "abductions" were lucid dreams.

One question remains however, where did the abduction story root from?

According to paranormal investigators, the phenomenon started in the 1940s specifically associating the abductions to what happened in Roswell, New Mexico. By the year 1946, sci-fi literature soared in America possibly from the public interest in the subject.

The abduction of Betty and Barney Hill is one of most publicized abductions in the 60s, but someone was abducted first before the Hills - it was Antonio Vilas Boas, who was reportedly abducted by aliens in the 50s. A pilot named Kenneth Arnold also got media attention when he claimed to have seen UFOs in 1947.

Paleo Abductions?

Cases of people claiming to have been abducted by aliens only got widespread attention in the 60s, but there were other similar stories before these abductions according to Jerome Clark, a UFO researcher.

According to an account of Colonel H.G. Shaw in the Daily Mail in the year 1897, the colonel and a friend of his were "harassed" by three tall humanoids. The creatures reportedly tried to kidnap the colonel and his friend, but the two were able to fight back.

Charles Fort, a writer from America wrote in 1923, according to Resologist, "One supposes that if extra-mundane vessels have sometimes come close to this earth, then sailing away, terrestrial aeronauts may have occasionally left this earth, or may have been seized and carried away from this earth."

Before the Boas case, Fred Reagan's UFO experience was published in the Flying Saucer Review. Reagan was reportedly in his airplane when a UFO bumped into it.

The occupants of the craft, who reportedly resembled asparagus made out of metal, apologized to the Reagan.

According to Dan Clore's 2005 book "The Unspeakable and Others," they attempted to cure Fred Reagan's cancer.

Sources say that Reagan died after the encounter citing brain disorder.

Finland - Possible Abduction Account from 1917
UFO Depiction
Published: 4:07 PM 11/20/2013

Location: Alho village, Jyrinvaara, Karelia, Russia/Finland

Date: early 1917

Time: unknown

Sometime between January and Easter 1917, in Jyrinvaara, North Karelia - currently in Russia, but at that time Finnish territory - a woman named Anni Lettu, then 43 years old, had an unusual experience.

She lived alone in a filthy hotel on the eastern shore of Lake Kankaanlampi, NNW of Lake Ladoga, approximately 6 kms west of Kurkijoki church. When she once disappeared for several days the villagers thought she had gone away to visit her daughter, but on returning she had an astonishing story to tell:

A large apparatus, like "a big washbasin", had landed in the road close by her house. "Small men" came rapidly climbing down a ladder and surrounded her. She did not want to go with them, but was forcibly taken on board.

The craft was brightly lit and warm inside, had comfortable seating, and "didn't clank like the Vyborg train." Somehow she could understand the language of the small beings, and communicated (perhaps mentally) with one who seemed to be the leader.

They cruised all around the world and even among the stars at vast speed, and "everything" was shown to her, "many wonders." When she eventually wanted to go home she was returned to her yard.

Anni often told her story around the village, and vehemently disagreed with those who thought she had been dreaming or hallucinating. She had a reputation as something of a soothsayer, and some of the religious (Russian Orthodox) villagers thought the little men must surely have been devils.

And since she really had no idea what they were, she accepted this designation after a while. Anni Lettu died in 1930.

COMMENT: The village was poor and remote, and no one living there in 1917 would have had any prior conception of objects or incidents like this (unless perhaps from the Book of Enoch). Abduction reports became widespread only about 50 years later.

The case rests on the testimonies of two aged persons (one b. 1910) who had both known Anni in their youth and heard her tell the story, which they related to investigator Mauritz Hietamäki in about 1980.
