As shoppers were coming out of stores and restaurants in Winsted, Connecticut, several onlookers spotted something in the sky.
A glowing, oval-shaped object was clearly seen in the night skies.
Several of the shoppers grabbed their cell phones and began filming the unknown craft which emanated a bluish hue.
Witnesses stated that no sound was heard coming from the object. Some witnesses claimed that the UFO would appear, disappear, and then reappear in a slightly different area of the sky.
In the mid-1960s a sleepy Wiltshire town became the unlikely epicentre of a UFO phenomenon.
Warminster, in West Wiltshire, became known globally for what was enigmatically called "The Thing". The Thing took many forms by those who claimed to have observed it between 1965 and 1977.
The first sign of The Thing was during the Christmas of 1964, when residents heard a loud, unidentifiable whine. The strange sightings were reported in the Warminster Journal. Local journalist Arthur Shuttlewood was instrumental in making the phenomenon national news and in one year more than 1000 sightings of unidentified flying objects were recorded.
Arthur ShuttlewoodThey continued to be seen on a regular basis between 1965 and 1977, and in many ways formed a key chapter of the 1960s . Although there have been few sightings in recent years, Warminster is still seen by many as synonymous with UFOs.

Richard Hall: On March 5, 1967, Air Defense Command radar tracked an unidentified target descending over the Minuteman missile silos of the 91st Strategic Missile Wing at Minot AFB, ND. Base security teams quickly converged on the area and saw a metallic, disc-shaped craft ringed with bright, flashing lights moving slowly. The disc stopped and hovered about 500 feet (150 meters) off the ground, as security police held their fire and watched in awe.
Suddenly the object began moving again and circled directly over the launch control facility.
F-106 fighter-interceptors were standing by on the flight line, waiting impatiently for an order from NORAD to scramble. When the or order was not fortthcoming, base operations decided on their own to scramble the interceptors. At that moment the UFO climbed straight up and streaked away at incredible speed.
The Allagash Waterway is a series of lakes and canals in the breathtaking mountains of Maine. This lovely area would be the site of one of the most discussed and best documented alien abduction cases on record. A dramatized version was featured on the "Unsolved Mysteries" television show.
The Allagash incident would involve multiple witnesses, four to be exact, twin brothers Jack and Jim Weiner, along with their friends Chuck Rak and Charlie Foltz.
The four men had met while studying at the Massachusetts College of Art, and they were all beginning their respective careers.
The four artists would turn into sportsmen for what they thought would be an enjoyable, relaxing trip. Their trip to Allagash would be memorable, but not for the reasons they had hoped for.
It would be in August 1976, that the four men began their vacation, and part way through their canoeing, they reached Eagle Lake, padding to it's mouth to do some fishing. Not having any luck, and running low on food, they decided to try some night fishing.
In July of 2006, Colorado resident Marcia Burke was driving home at night after an evening out. She lived on a horse ranch in Deer Trail.
She claims that as she neared her home, she began seeing lights behind her vehicle. They seemed almost too close to be another car. She pulled off to the side of the road to let the other car pass by, but none came.
She continued her trip home, and as she came to the top of a hill, she could see as many as 15 UFOs ahead of her. She videotaped these objects, and also a possible alien being.
Unfortunately, the alien footage can only be seen via pay per view.
Because of the subsequent appearance on the Montel Williams show, her story has been seen by millions of viewers.

From their residence near the 4600 Block of Wilkerson Road, a husband and wife are the first to report a circular lighted object hovering silently in the sky to the south of their location.
The big light of the UFO, pulsating or changing in both color and brightness, was said to be encased within a structure that resembled gridwork or cabling.
The couple advised the Lebanon City Police Department of the object around 10:15 p.m. and the Warren County Communications Center dispatched a Waynesville police officer to the location.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Waynesville officer confirmed the unidentifiable nature of the object and also reported that a second UFO was also in the area.
The clip appears to show a dark object with lights along the bottom in a triangular shape and it does not seem to be travelling at speed as it hovers over Huddersfield.

Reverend William Huffman had been an evangelist for many years, but had taken the resident minister reigns of the Red Star Baptist Church in early 1941. Church records corroborate his employment there during the period in question.

Sometime in August, 1952 during the major UFO sighting wave of that year, Mrs. Suzanne E. Knight, a young housewife and mother, saw a UFO at close range with what appeared to be an occupant aboard.
At about 9:30 p.m. on that hot summer evening, Mrs. Knight was in her kitchen when she heard a peculiar "bzzt" noise, apparently against the screen of the kitchen window. The noise was repeated several times and thinking it was a large insect, she went to the window and looked out.
She saw a bright object descending rapidly at a 45 degree angle and thought it was a plane about to crash; instead, the object came to a hovering position at a right angle to her, approximately half a city block away and about 300 feet above the ground.
There have been many UFO cases addressed on various television documentaries throughout the years. Many of these are forgettable, many are biased, and then there are a few that present the facts as they are.
One of the latter was presented by the MUFON organization in October, 2008. The special was carried by the Discovery Channel. Titled "UFOs over Earth," the hour long show addressed an extremely compelling case of UFO sightings, an alien encounter, and possible alien abduction.
On January 8, 2007, this baffling case began in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on the banks of the Cape Fear River.
The main witness in this case is one Chris Bledsoe Sr. Bledsoe, a successful builder and commercial pilot, was well liked and respected in his community. On the day of the strange events, he was fishing with four other men, Donny Ackerman, Gene Robinson, David McDonald. and Chris Bledsoe Jr.
This sighting took place in September 1997 while travelling home from windsurfing on an inland lake in South Africa. The journey took us past the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) buildings on the periphery of the city of Pretoria which we passed on our left. It was dusk and we were travelling in a southerly direction home towards Johannesburg.
My son (who is now a military instructor pilot and captain in the air force) and my wife were present while I was driving, with my son sitting on my left. My attention was drawn to what appeared a very tall tower of stacked disks ahead of us, slightly off to the right of the road, this tower conically tapered towards the bottom disk, i.e. the diameter of the top disk was largest and bottom smallest.
The time taken from first sighting to passing the tower orthogonally to our right was approximately five minutes at a driving speed of some 120 km/h, resulting in a distance estimate of about 10 km.
Each disk was dimly glowing with a reddish evenly distributed light and its equatorial circumference contained several bright orange light sources, about six or seven of these visible on each disk.
August 19, 1952 - A heat wave from a flying saucer! A Sci-fi movie scenario? well, not really. The following account still stands as one of the best "physical trace" cases in UFO lore. The United States Air Force certainly took it seriously, and so should we.
Scoutmaster, D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers of West Palm Beach, Florida was driving three scouts home on the night in question. He turned off the coastal highway and down an inland blacktop to go where one of the boys lived.
After traveling about ten miles inland he noticed a bright light in the palmetto thickets.
At first he passed by it, but then stopped down the road and turned the car around to go back. He hesitated in doing this, but could not help feeling that the light might have been a fire, perhaps indicating a crashed airplane.
DesVergers stopped the car, and got out to proceed to the scene of the bright lights. The scouts objected, afraid to be alone in the darkness, but the Scoutmaster headed toward the thick brush not far from the road. Nearby were the swamps, full of snakes, alligators, and who knows what other deadly creatures.
A curious landing report, in New York state on Aug. 19, 1965, has been thoroughly checked by NICAP, state police, and a five-man AF team. This sighting, which occurred on the William Butcher dairy farm near Cherry Creek, N.Y., involved three members of the Butcher family and a fourth witness. Here is their report:

The summer of 1971, I was working the night shift for Conoco Oil Co. at an open pit uranium mine west of Karnes City TX.
I was one of 6 people operating Caterpillar 657B earth movers. We were down to about 210 feet deep when this incident happened. It was about 11:10 PM , just after shift change we were getting ready to crank our machines, when the 85 acre pit lit up as if it was daylight.
The light was so bright that I had to squint because it hurt my eyes. I remember hearing a high pitched hissing noise and the hair on my arms stood on end. I was so scared, I fell to the ground and started praying.
William E. Jones writes, "I thought your readers should be aware of the Cordell Hull story that alien artifacts were in our hands in 1939."
In early December of 1999, the Center of UFO Studies received a letter from the daughter of the Reverend Turner Hamilton Holt:
"Today I want to share some knowledge that has been, by request, kept secret in our family since sometime in World War II. This concerns something my father was shown by his cousin Cordell Hull, the Secretary of State under Franklin Roosevelt.
Many reports of UFO encounters made by single individuals are often given little weight by most investigators.
However, when that one person is of high esteem and credibility, the case is given much weight. Such is the case with an Alien encounter that occurred in 1950 in South America.
The lone witness was Dr. Enrique Caretenuto Botta, who passed his incredible story on to Horacio Gonzales G. in Caracas at a UFO conference in 1955.
This extraordinary event would take place at 6:45 P.M., June 26, 1959. Father Gill saw what he described as a bright white light to the Northwest. Word of the sight spread quickly, and within a few moments, Gill was joined by no less than thirty-eight additional witnesses, including Steven Moi, Ananias Rarata, and Mrs Nessle Moi.

To their utter surprise, they saw four human-like figures that seemed to be performing a kind of task. Now and then one of the figures would disappear, only to reappear in a moment or two.
Rectangular-shaped UFO with Changing Lights over Menifee, California - Mirror like object was rectangular/square-shaped, at least 150 feet wide - massive — easily the size of a large aircraft or bigger. I was outside in Menifee, CA, when I spotted a small dark speck low against the sky that immediately drew my attention because of its unusual motion.
It was heading southwest, moving away from me noticeably faster than any consumer drone I’ve seen.
While returning home after an evening out in Seattle, Washington, a local resident was halted by a startling aerial display in the overcast night sky. The witness captured footage of three distinct UFOs gliding in a tight, coordinated formation, each emitting a steady, ethereal glow. As the camera zoomed in, the objects revealed a sharp, triangular structure with luminous points at each vertex, moving with a haunting silence that completely revealed the roar of jet engines.
One of the most intriguing cases of a UFO sighting with physical trace evidence is that of the 1964 landing of an unknown craft witnessed by policeman Lonnie Zamora. This event has been one of the mainstays of Ufology for over 40 years, and is definitely one of those cases which will not go away. The Zamora incident began at 5:45 P.M. on April 24, 1964, in Socorro, New Mexico. Thirty-one year old policeman Lonnie Zamora was on patrol when he was passed by a car which was obviously speeding.
Many saw the strange object descend behind pine trees in The Grange Reserve, and then later ascend and fly away at great speed. The people who ran over to the reserve found a huge ring in the paddock where the object had been seen. Some people reported five light aircraft following or chasing the object.
An extraordinary event in 1967 would practically put the small fishing village of Shag Harbor on the map. Located at the southern tip of Nova Scotia, this rural community would be host to one of the best documented UFO events of the past 40 years. Named after the "shag," a bird of the cormorant family, the harbor was literally left off most maps of the time, but that would be changed.
In early 2026, somewhere in Portugal, a man woke up around 5 A.M., hearing a sound that didn't belong. Not loud, just wrong. He walked to the window, still half asleep, and froze, right outside, hovering low, was something massive, completely silent, almost like it had been sitting there the whole time.
Slowly it began to rise, lifting into the dim morning sky, and underneath it, strange symbols.
The UFO sightings of Hudson Valley, New York, have set themselves apart, being one of the few places where such sightings have occurred over several years. Starting in 1982, witnesses reported seeing a large stationary craft with numerous bright lights in the sky above Hudson Valley.
On February 2nd, 2013, over Scotland, a man going to work like always felt something
very strange when he looked at the sky. He recorded something he had never seen before. It was not any commercial airplane. It was very different. It had two black caps, or you can say ears, on both sides.
The object resembled a falcon diving from a high altitude, but this was not a falcon. It was white as snow and had no sound, and was moving easily 30 mph towards Columbus, Georgia from my location.
